We have just got back from a 7 night stay fully inclusive holiday in The holiday village Benalmadena 11th to 17th April 2011, there were six of us in the party which included a 14 and 5 year old. The rooms were very clean and spacious and the food was very good with plenty of choices for all tastes. The inclusive drinks for adults and kids were freely available and we very rarely had to queue for longer than 1 minute.
The staff were very helpful and the first choice reps were equally as helpful and kids clubs were extremely well run, the only thing we had to complain about was the location of the hotel which was quite a way from anything else, we had to catch a bus or taxi to get to the closest town of Fuengirola and many people were pick pocketed on the local bus, the reps did warn us about this but we were still hit twice.

- Advice: Catch a taxi when venturing out, not a bus

Just home from the holiday village yesterday, it was fantastic! the weather was 30`c every day and the staff at the pool snack bar were generous and friendly, although the supermarket inside the complex needs to be watched as they tend to over charge and and the prices are already extortionate, ask for a receipt.

- Advice: stay in the complex u dont need to explore it has everything u need

Brlliant holiday went with my partner and 2 children age 3 and 5. i would defently reccomend this holiday great entertainment, clean rooms, food was as you would expect from all inclusive buffet (o.k), as we had a 5 hour delay we slept in and missed the welcome meeting make sure when you arrive you read all the entertainment guides or you miss the stuff that would appeal to your group. also check the eating timetable lunch was served in the resturant over the other side of the bridge but the snack bar was ok if you cant be botherd to walk there. Aviod the lady trying to get you to visit the hotel next door unless you want to miss 4hrs of your holiday being talked into buying time shares.

I've read a few reviews which had put us off a little bit but to be honest theres not much you can complain about we had such a lovely time. If you hve kids you will LOVE it here, as for the food how anyone can say the food is horrible, god knows what they expect from life!!! the food was the nicest we've ever had from a hotel, something different everynight, so much choice LOVELY.
The one thing I would say is it is quite far from anything but again from reading the reviews before we prepared for this. We got taxis because it was so much quicker, I would recommend a trip to the marina about £10 euro from the taxi rank outside the hotel. Also the crocodile park was great for the kids, Tivoli world I wouldn't really recommend it ended up costing almost as much as a trip to chessington or alton towers and nowhere near as good.
The rooms in the hotel werent really cleaned when we 1st checked in there was sand on our floor then and didnt disapear the whole time we were there. The air con was RUBBISH we complained a few times, the first choice staff were fab and offered us 2 different rooms but it turned out the air con was the same everywhere! Also the bird mess on the balcony smelt really bad when it rained but then not sure if theres actually much they can do about the birds!!!!
Entertainment was fab and staff very friendly
The weather for us mid Sept was 27-30 which was lovely although we had a little bit of rain.
Hope you have a lovely holiday if you decide to go!!!!

Please find below the bare facts of the Holiday Village:
1. Accommodation:
Hotel rooms are clean, spacious and fairly modern, you have to pay 2.50E a day for the safe and if you want a remote you have to ask at reception. In addition, there is air-con. You DO have to pay 100E on arrival or give your credit card details.... however we had no problem getting it back.
2. Drinks - All inclusive
Alcohol selection BRILLIANT! Wine, Beer, Spirits - Vodka, Whisky, Malibu, Peach Snapps etc.. Cocktails - Sex on the beach, blue lagoon etc.. Not at all stingy with the alcohol and plenty of choice for children.
3. Food - All inclusive - Food was of very good quality and varied choice with themed evenings in regular restaurant.
Breakfast: Full English, continental, yoghurt and fruit.
Lunch & Dinner: Large selection of salad items, soups, meats & fish, chips/potatoes/pasta, burgers, children selection, cakes, ice-cream, jelly and fruit also available.
4.The Location: Benalmadena is a bit like Blackpool abroad its a stretch and doesn't have a town centre specifically. The holiday village is quite a way away about a 40-50 minute walk but you can catch a bus(very cheap). The village is not very close to any kind of night life.
5. The Beach:It does have beach access however it is outside of the resort and is down a hill, however it doesn't have parasols on it....if you do travel to the town there are other lovely beaches though.
6. Swimming Pools: Pools are large, clean and spacious. Loads of sunbeds available in October! The Village is very very child orientated holiday and they have lots of activities and games for them in the day by the pool.
7. Weather: Excellent for sunbathing about 26-28Degrees all week except one day when it rained...still hot though!
Overall, We had a great week :D

This is the first time i have written a review, please excuse spelling!
We have just returned from a 7nt stay at the holiday village it was fantastic! 2 adults 2 children age 2 and 6.
To start from the beginning a rep came on the bus with us from the airport and gave us some local information. Arrived at lunch time no que for check in and went to the room straight away with no wait. (No help with cases or direction to room but this wasnt really a problem!) You were asked to pay 100 euros deposit at reception, i just gave an old credit card details and no questions were asked saved us 100 euros of our spening money!
From the outside looks like the hotel could do with a lick of paint but in side is fantastic very clean.
Room was lovely and clean, very spacious (Its a 1 bed apartment even thou we booked all inclusive) 2 double beds, sofa bed, travel cot, dining table, kitchen, bath, shower, bidet, 2 sinks balcony with table and chairs, 2 doors to the balcony 1 from bedroom 1 from lounge, (handy if u have children asleep on sofa bed and want to sit on balcony.
Food was fantastic lots of choice, i think the poeple who say it is the same every day have oviously been choosing chicken and chips every day!! The usual burgers steak pizza availible every day but the rest changes. lots of sea food. Only ate at the italian a la carte which was nice but service was slow...this is nice if u have dont have children with u but with two young children they get bored sitting around, some other guests took portable dvd players a very good idea!!
The snack bar was good to have for children and fussy husbands during the day but portions were small so order 2!
Entertainment was fantasic a choice of the kids club entertainers out side or local singers in the piano bar. Bingo was good with over 300euros prize money every night, only 1 euro a ticket. First choice entertainers worked very hard day and night always something to do for childrens, adults and familys together. My husband play poker most days at 4pm, we built a family raft and raced it across the pool! Kids club was good my daughter went a few times. We also used the creche once for our 2 year old, he seemed to hav a nice few hours but i was anxious as the female member of staff seemed quite slow and wasnt very on the ball when i checked him in! The male was fab!
Overall it was a brilliant holiday for FAMILIES! I would not recommend going if u haven't got kids.
The staff all spoke good English, we reported a problem with our door handle and then headed back to our room, the maintenance guy got there before we did and fixed the problem straight away!
I was very poorly on the last day with sickness etc but it was just for 8hrs, im not sure what caused this but it was just one of those things.
We have just booked for Holiday Village Red Sea next year.

Just got back from the holiday village 2 days ago, my total honest opinion is that it is okay although I would not return. The transfer to the hotel went smoothly and after reading lots of reviews on here I was prepared and completed the registration forms on the coach for a faster check in. We stayed in room 243 which was a nice room over looking the pool and sea. The room was adequate with a large balcony, bath room and bedroom and basically had everything in that you would need. I seen cleaners in and out of the rooms but not sure they did anything other than fold the towels and make the beds as I know the floors were not cleaned the whole time we were there. The staff in the hotel are helpful. The food in the main restaurant was the biggest let down, not very nice at all. My kids practically lived on chips the whole week we were there, we actually preferred the snacks at the pool bar but again choice for all inclusive was limited, the healthier options were not included i.e wraps and jacket potatoes. The breakfasts in the main restaurant were okay but the dinner and evening meal options were awful. We booked into the italian for one of the nights which was okay, my partner had spag bol and enjoyed it. Just a tip, if you are wanting to book into the italian and mexican restaurants, I would advise that you do this at the beginning of your holiday as I left it until a few days after we had arrived and they had booked up very fast, leaving us with a time slot for 9.30pm which was far too late with the children. The entertainment was okay, my eldest enjoyed it, they do try their hardest. The daytime entertainment around the pool could have been more exciting. The shop in the complex is very expensive so would advise if you are self catering that you take up the option of a supermarket trip which is offered at the welcome meeting when you arrive to stock up as taxis can get very expensive as you are away from shops etc. We went along to the marina for a meal one of the nights to a chinese, the taxi driver was very helpful and advised on the better places to eat, the marina was a lovely place and looked lovely all lit up on the evening. Hope this helps a little, I especially read lots of reviews on the hotel before I went and picked up a couple of tips etc. I did forget to mention that my partner was ill with sickness for a couple of days whilst we were there, we spoke to a lot of people who had had similar illness, we reported it to the the rep who, I thought tried to talk us out of making the report, however we did. Enjoy

For the second year running the Costa Del Sol Holiday Village has just blown us away. Excellent in every area (except the in-hotel shop)the hotel is clean, food is great (both quality and variety) and staff are friendly and professional. Well worth going all inclusive due to the rising cost of eating out in Spain.(simple meal for 5 was 35 euros in 2008, 98 euros now).
