Astoria Capsis Hotel

This is perhaps the most conveniently located hotel in Heraklion. I was very happy with my stay there, though I was iven a room in the first floor with no views of the city. I have no particular complain other than the shower which is useless as it can only be used by children and dwarfs! I would easily recommend it especially for business travelers.

well appointed rooms (flat screen TVs), stylish beds, spacious bathrooms, pool up on the rooftop, nice cafe/restaurant in the bottom floor; internet access (but must pay) - the location was good, in the city center - near major bus stops - one that takes you to the ruins right in front of the hotel - a nice number of shoppes and restaurants close by, good deal.

I loved my stay at the Astoria Capsis. The hotel was beautiful inside- nicely appointed rooms. Flat screen tvs, contemporary bedding and furniture. The breakfast was included, and it was phenomenal. Warm bougatsa, fresh seasonal fruits, tyropita, and all the standard hotel offerings. Only problem was the frosted glass swinging door on the bathroom. We stayed here for one night enroute from Makrigialos to Athens. This is a lovely business class hotel. It is situated on a pretty square close to the harbor in the center of the city. It is one block from the Archeological Museum (which is being renovated and is only partilally open - still worth the trip.) It is also close to the pedestrian area for shopping. It is a 4-star property and extremely comfortable. Good bedding, etc. Close to the action but not at all noisy.

We had some business to attend to in Heraklion, and from reading the various reviews of hotels in the city, this seemed to offer the best value for money - as it was a 4* hotel, and we got a deal of 115EUR per night for 6 nights with a travel agency. However to compare rates, the hotel website required registering first - which is way too much trouble. Anyway. We arrived at 8pm. No bellboy. Astoria kapsis is located at the most convenienced place of Heraklion. Just a step from the most turist attractions, bars and restaurants. Considering that you need a car to go to the sea this is the best location for staying in the city. The rooms are refurbished in perfect condition and with perfect view of the city. The staff very friendly and the only problem I can think is that this is a rather noisy neighbourhood and sometimes I feel a little annoyed. We stayed four nights at the Astoria Capsis and found the accomodations to be modern, clean, reasonably comfortable, and, conveniently located. After walking through a vast majority of the city, it also appeared to be one of the better places (if not the best) hotel available. Front desk staff spoke English and were generally courteous, although some staff members seemed to us a little less courteous and patient than others. Moved from the horrible Atlantis to the Astoria and stayed for 4 nights. This is a great hotel. Nice decoration: modern and clean. Good location and quiet. The roof pool area is nice. The breakfast is great with a good selection of food and good service. The usual problem of smokers in the breakfast room holds true here, but they do have a non-smoking section. My wife and I spent 2 nts here as part of 2 weeks in June and July spent in Greece between Athens, Mykonos, Santorini and Crete. The Astoria Capsis was our best hotel experience of the trip that involved staying at a range of 3 and 4 star hotels. Well located, good modern rooms and facilities, excellent breakfast, it was very good value and with the hot conditions we enjoyed the pool.

We were eight elderly ladies wanting to spendsome time in Iraklion during our study week in Crete. The Astoria Capsis was ideal as to location, close to everything, esp. the AMI (Museum) and the centre generally. The rooms were perfect, too. But there was one big mistake: We chose this hotel for its swimming-pool and bar on the roof - but to our dismay it was only open from 11 to 19 o'clock.
