Lovely accommodation...area a little too quiet!
from LEA2201
I booked the Cristian Sur through Cosmos for a family holiday with my Two children aged 8months, 5years and my sister aged 10years. We booked a 2 bedroom apartment on a self catering basis. The complex overall is very clean and well maintained. The apartments are also very clean and have more than enough cutlery/crockery/pots pans etc for our party of 6. Fridge/freezer, cooker, kettle and toaster. The apartment was split over two floors, both floors had a balcony. Only down side was the number of steps, there are no lifts but there are so many steps, it is really difficult with a young infant in a pushchair. There are ground floor apartments but they are only one bedroomed. The maids came on a regular basis, id say 5 days out of 7. They made up the beds and empied the bins but thats about it. They didnt clean the floors or the bathroom once during our stay. We did have a problem with ants in our apartment but thats to be expected in a warm country in self catering accommodation. The management were obviously aware of the problem as they attempted to address this problem with ant spray which they provided. There were six pools altogether on the Cristian Sur complex, 4 of which were childrens pools. The pools were really clean as was the surrounding area. There are two supermarkets on site, both of which are reasonable value. The smaller one has a sandwich bar in which offers vaious baguettes at approx €2.50 and they are really nice and very good value. The onsite snack bar is excellent. The food is delicious and excellent value. They have a different special offer each day which varies from steak to pork chops to lasagne from approx €3 to €5 the menu offers alot of variety and is good value. The portions are very reasonable too. The staff are very friendly too. We ate at a number of restaurants in the local area and also on the main harbour. Although the harbour restaurants tend to be a little more expensive and the food doesnt seem to be as nice as others nearer to the complex. There are plenty of supermarkets in the area and the bus station is only 5 mins walk away. There is not really that much to do in the area, there are a couple of small bars dotted about but the area is generally really quiet. The nearest beach is 15mins walk away but there is maintenance work being carried out so most of it is closed off. There is another beach about 30mins walk away or you can catch a taxi outside the complex for €3 and it takes 5mins. The Cristian Sur is a sister hotel to the Tenerife Sur, you can therefore use the facilities at both hotels. We were happy enough with the Cristian Sur so never used the facilities at the Tenerife Sur. We flew with Monarch Airlines and upgraded to Monarch Plus but I wouldnt recommend doing this as we didnt find it very good value. Other than the drinks - which you had to ask for! The crew didnt know who was Monarch Plus or not, you had to tell them. Aparently they are phasing it out so dont really focus too much on Monarch PLus passengers. General summary - great holiday for those wanting a peaceful break away form it all. The complex is lovely and cant really fault it.
Probably wouldn't return

Returned from Cristian sur in last few days. We had anticipated staying there as it was quieter and using the busier Tenerife sur facilities opposite to give us the entertainment, having the best of both worlds which we could do. We were led to believe by the brochures that Tenerife Sur had entertainment but did not as we were told when we got there, any entertainment there didn't start until June. Therefore we found it very quiet in the evenings when we came back to our accommodation as there wasn't any entertainment with the exception of the Fishermans Inn bar and the bar next to that which gave us some background noise when we were out on the balcony slightly overlooking those bars, in the evenings when the children were asleep! Weather wasn't fantastic though it didn't rain. Cloudy most days. Cleaning in the room was ok, though we had what may be a coincidence, at least 1 cockroach somewhere in the room everytime the cleaners left clean towels. Hassled by street sales people trying to sell you this and that too! We would recommend going to Chill out Restaurant to eat, lovely food and great atmosphere suitable for couples and families. Villa Mar for breakfast was also good.
Fantastic apartments!!!

How anyone can regard Cristian Sur as anything other than perfect is beyond me!! The place has everything. Helpful staff, 24 hour reception, 2 x supermarkets (you must try the fresh sandwiches at one of them), 2 x fantastic pools with lots of sun loungers and the place is soooooooo quiet at night its unbelieveable. As a resident at Cristian Sur you can also use the facilities at Tenerife Sur across the road which we did on a couple of occasions for a change. For me, Cristian Sur is the perfect holiday apartment location in Los Cristianos, couldn't be better!
Great Stay at the Cristian Sur

Just back from spending the last week of January in the Cristian Sur Apts. We had a 2 bed apt and it was great, very spacious and comfortable. The maids were in every day to change the bins and beds were made most days. The complex was kept very clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The complex is really well situated, it was about a 5min walk to the centre of Los Cristianos where there is a good selection of restaurants and you are also only a few minutes from the promenade where there are lots of restaurants and bars. It felt quite safe walking about at night and apart from a little noise form the karoke bar when you sat out on the balcony (it's quite entertaining listening to the people who really can't sing but think they are wonderful). The weather was great at this time of year, 22-28 degrees for the week we where there. We took the trip out on the catamaran to see the dolphins and whales and although we only saw 1 small whale we really enjoyed the experience out on the yacht. Also did the submarine trip which was good although expensive for only being down 45 minutes but it is something we have never had the opportunity to do before and we really enjoyed it. Overall I would recommend the Cristian Sur and Los Cristianos, it a nice resort and we had a really relaxing holiday. We would stay here again if we come back to Tenerife.
nice place but probably wouldn't go again

My partner and I stayed at the cristian sur apartments for 1 week. The complex is very clean and the gardens beautiful. We couldn't believe how quiet it was of a night considering there are so many apartments in the complex It is only a short walk from the town centre were there are lots of restaurants, bars etc. Try the restaurant called Cabanas on the waterfront and the restaurant next to the complex, we really enjoyed the food in both these places. The only fault I would find with Cristian sur is that on the week that we were there the pool area was very noisy with teenagers throwing balls etc and if you are not up early it can sometimes be a problem to get a sunbed, the rules that are posted around the pool area seemed to be ignored. On the week that we were there if you just wanted a quiet relax then the pool area wasn't the place to be but overall a nice place.
Nice but could do better

Just got back from 10 days at the Cristian Sur, Los Cristianos. On first entering the apt we thought nice and clean but unfortunately as time went on we realised that the floors were never cleaned nor the sanitaryware when the maids visited. The only thing they did was to make the beds. I know its self catering but I didn't think it meant self houseworking also. We also had to pay to gain access to the remote for the TV 25 Euros for 1 week and then wanted more for the extra few days. Apts in not a bad position for the beach at the harbour but we were not told by the tour operator Direct Holidays that they were putting in major pipes between the promenade and the beach/harbour consequently we were unable to sit in a cafe or bar on the promenade and look out at the harbour - we looked out at diggers and mounds of sand. Also the walk to the other beach (which was a lot better beach anyway) was double.
Lovely apartments and area

Been back a couple of days from cristian sur apartments, at first we didnt know wat apartments we where in this one or tenerife sur, glad it was cristian sur as the tenerife sur pool area looked like it would get very busy. We took a trip to loro park, wat a brill day kids loved it. The apartments where very clean, we always got a sunbed by the pool even after 12 oclock. Is a nice quiet area, tenerife sur is across the road, we never heard any of the noise from any of the karoke bars mentioned. One bar to try is Taylors Lounge, you go past the steak house and turn left at the road about, very friendly english bar, my 2 year old felt very relaxed as they gave the kids colouring to do. I would go back to these apartments tomorrow if i could had no problems. Brill Holiday
Great family holiday

Had a great time at this complex. We booked our apartments through Maestro Vacations and flights separate. We had a 2 bed/bathroom apartment, which was great and had everything you could ask for. Complex clean & bar/restaurant on site very good. Never seen a cockroach! Two nice/clean pools and pool table, internet for kids. Cristian Sur is in a great area with everything close to hand. You can have a quiet drink at night on the balcony as we did a few times, 1 Litre of Sangria for about 1.5 euro at the supermarket, or you can walk down to the front where there are plenty of friendly bars. The kids can play on the trampolines on the beach whilst you sit across the walkway and have a nice cool drink. Plenty of good shops selling electrical stuff and no hard sell. We weren't bothered with time-share people just a few girls looking to bead our kids hair, but they didn't bother you too much. The only down side was that there wasn't enough sun beds for everyone so people got up early to reserve them! However, we always managed to get one or two or we sat on the grass. Wouldn't hesitate to go back or recommend. Going to the Sunset Bay apartments this year at Torviscas and hope they are as good as Cristian Sur.
Los Cristianos

Just got back from a lovely week in tenerife didnt see a cloud for the full 7 days, stayed in los cristianos about 10 mins from the beach in the cristian sur complex.the apartments were very clean and had everything you could want for a family holiday, the pools were a big hit with my daughter as was the beach, there was a little road noise on a night and the faint sounds of the karaoke bar at the san marino complex further down the road but it never disturbed our sleep as the bedrooms are at the back of the apartment.Had a day trip to aqualand wich is nice for kids but a bit pricey when you add it all up,after paying 23 euro for adults an 16 for kids you then have to pay 4 for a locker and 3.5 euro for each sunlounger, thats 75 euro and you have not even hired a rubber ring to go on the rides with!and dont get me started on the food prices.Rant over it didnt spoil the holiday as the weather was just too good to moan(dolphin show was brilliant though) plenty of nice places to eat in central los cristianos all at good prices lager is nice and cheap as well, will be going back in a year or two hopefully by then they might have done something about the "lucky lucky" men trying to sell you sunglasses and watches as you eat your meal, a polite no thanks will see most off but some wait over you till you ask them to go away .
Don't Go There

Just came back from Tenerife got hotel through direct hols good deal. arrived at 4.00 in morning due to plane delay given keys with 117 on it told across road and to the right. Well there was no chance of finding it as the room was number 17. Great get settled then or so we thought, you could not put the bathroom light on as the fan made a loud noise and would wake the dead you could not get a shave as the water pressure only gave a trickle of water (i can pee harder) the apartment was dirty and the w/top formica was broken in places, got woken up at 5.30 till 6.00am with cats meowing and screaching can this get any worse you bet. 6.30 awoken by loud bangs turned out a shop was below us and was getting deliveries, go some sleep about an hour got up and went to pool at approx 9.30/10ish all loungers gone but seen 20 chained up at side of building asked to get one but was told they are for private resedents only ( never told this was part private) also balcony in apartment did not get the sun day wasted. 3rd day got up early after not much sleep my wife and i went down to pool. Everyone was out awaiting for loungers we walk down to where 4 people were standing and 8 loungers some old french twat said we could not sit there and all these loungers were taken i had taken enough by then called rep and demanded to be moved went to the oro negro Great Hotel. Do Not Go To The Cristian Sur It Is The Most Depressing And Sole Destroying Place We Have Ever Been.

Was I just lucky or is it that only people with something to complain about write on these forums? 2 of us travelled with this company to Tenerife on 18th March, returning on 29th, we had all relevant documentation in good time, the flights were all on time and the standard... more
