" Amazing, great holiday!!! "

I have stayed at Tenerife Sur Twice over the last few years and i must say everytime has been amazing, great valueful for money, the staff are lovely and always willing to help day or night, the pools are clean and safe with plenty of seating area with a childrens play ground at the back, great for young couples or or families with children. The beach is about a 15min walk from the hotel, but the walk is nice as you walk through the old town with lots of different shops the beach was clean and very nice,We went on days out to lora Paque and Siam Park! Siam park was amazing and if you go you must go on tower of terror we booked our days out via Natalie our Thomas Cook opertor, we also went to lora paque which was really nice the killer whales and the dolphins were my fave! Every morning we would go to Pit shop just outside the hotel for breakfast was great value for money two fired breakfast for 5 Euros! we didnt use the onsite supermarkets because they were a little over priced for basic things such as water, but there is a Spar about 5 mins walk where you could get 8 liters of water for one euro! The sunday and wednesday markets are really good but be careful for pit pocketers!
Me and my fiance will be going back very soon! Was a great holiday! i know there are a lot of negative feedback on the web about this hotel but for what you pay its great value the apartments are big and clean with a daliy maid service and had clean towels every day, i have also read that people have had a lot of things stolen from there rooms and i must say we didnt have anything stolen but we did get a safe which is fixed to the back of the bedroom wall inside the wordrobe.

Advice: Must go place great for everyone!

Activities: Pit stop, Siam park, lora parque, Netos

Good for: Beach

" Beware "

We were disappointed as Thomas Cook wanted to charge us £200 for transfers (Two taxi's as there were 5 of us).We then decided to hire a car from Autoreisen as it cost less than that for the entire week. When we arrived at the airport, we found a Cosmos rep waiting for us t transfer us to the apartmrnt.
The apartment looked liked it has seen better days. The kitchen was tatty and equipped with very little utensils, and the can opener was so rusty. The stairs are not very safe and I would therfore not advise these apartments if you have a toddler as they could slip through. The hot water is only enough for one person to shower. The tv reception was very bad for a chargeable service. The resort was advertised as having a heated pool but there was none.
The worse thing was that once we got home we realised that our ipod and beach towels were missing.

Advice: The location is nice for families

Activities: Aqualand and Jungle Park

" Cristian Sur "

For years I have booked an apartment in the Tenerife Sur, either direct with the hotel, or as part of a package holiday with various companies. However, the cost of the apartment has gone up tremendously, so this time I booked flights through Thomas cook, and then a privately owned apartment in the Cristian Sur through www.ownersdirect.co.uk. I wish I had done this ages ago, the apartment was far superior to those owned by the hotel, it was right next to the pool, beautifully furnished with everything you could need, dvd player, dvds, radio, flat screen tv,(we had to pay for a tv in the Tnerife Sur) books, magazines, playing cards etc etc. even a snorkel! And - it was about £125 a week cheaper than previous years. I did hear someone saying they had items stolen, but they were in one of the hotels apartment, our private apartment was more secure than those owned by the hotel, it had metal grills on both the patio doors and the main door, and a safe too. There is the usual sneaking out first thing in the morning to lay towels on sunbeds, (after which they are often left unused for hours!)Internet access on the hotels computers is quite expensive at 1 euro for just 10 minutes. Since returning home, i have discovered that their is actually free wi-fi in the Cristian sur, so next May i shall be taking my laptop!
We spend every evening in the Cheers Bar in the San Marino complex behind the Tenerife Sur - if you want a cosy friendly night of fun, go there. The food is good, particularly the fillet steak.
With the rate of the euro however, Tenerife is not now a cheap hoilday, basic foods are quite expensive if you're selfcatering, its often cheaper to get something out than cook.

" BEST holiday EVER in Los Cristianos!! "

This was our first time to Tenerife and it was amazing because of Los Cristianos and our apartment! We stayed at Cristian Sur apartment in room 336 from 17th Oct 08 to 24 Oct 08, which overlooks the pools. We are a young couple but wanted a quiet place but with a good choice of restaurants around us and this is exactly what we got!We booked our holiday through Dunmow Travel, they are located in Great Dunmow high street Essex. The tour operator was Cosmos and they were excellent, from the moment we got off the plane to us been dropped off at the apartment. We arrived at Cristian Sur early and the reception staff were excellent as our room was not ready, so we were able to change and drop our bags off in there luggage room which is monitored by CCTV cameras. Our room was clean, and we were surprised by the space and how big our balcony overlooking the pools was.
The location could not of been better, we were surrounded by excellent restuarants and bars! Now if you want to taste the best chinese ever, you have to go to the Treasury Chinese which is across the complex, we went there 3 times in our week in tenerife, also the best steak house was out the complex and go right, about 600 metres away on the left hand side of the road, its called MARGUI steak house, service and the food was really really good(on our first visit we received complimentary drinks)!!Now the restaurant next to the Mangui, DO NOT GO there as we had to walk out after ordering our drinks, all the tables around us did not touch there food as everyone was disgusted with the taste and quality of the meats.
The bar we went to every night after our meal was called THE PIT STOP/CHEQUERS, this is the nicest and cleanest bar in Los Cristianos, Willie is the owner and he is English, and Brian is the bar manager and they made us feel so welcome.Service and bar snacks is excellent and we really miss them as it was great in there!
Our only regret was that we took B&B in our holiday, although our breakfast was good and there was a good choice of hot food, it worked out to about £7 pound per day for our breakfast, PIT STOP offers an excellent breakfast for about 6 Euros and it is really good and there is a place down the road called The english tea room which is about 4 euros and it is also good!
The highlight of our holiday was SIAM PARK, siam park is the biggest water park in europe (its in Costa Adeje)www.siampark.net, and it is only 2/3 months old. We bought our passes through Cristian Sur reception, it is 28 Euros per person with free travel to the park, even if you bought your tickets at the park it is the same price! The Siam park bus which takes you to the park is excellent, its comfortable and its FREE!The closest Siam park bus stop is about 700 metres away from the Cristian Sur apartment, there is a bus every 30min.The bus drive to get there took about 20 to 25 minutes. The park is amazing and it also has a man made beach with imported white sand and waves which are machine operated!!It is an awesome day out!the park is open from 10am to 5pm, just a tip, the last bus from Siam Park is at 5pm, so make sure you outside the park for 5pm, if not you can get a taxi to los cristianos, which i think is about 8 euros.
We definately will be going back there next year!!!

" beaware "

We were two families on holiday and had an excellent holiday for a number of reasons i.e great weather, good company, lovely food nice clean appartments etc. However the other family we were with were also broken into just like the gentleman in August.Money, 3 mobile phones ,2 psp's plus games and an ipod touch were stolen. They too were on the top floor and recieved the same response from the man at reception "you'll have to ring the police yourself it's not my problem"..And we were only around the pool,it all happened in the space of one hour.We too have our suspisions.

" We have recently returned from a 2... "

We have recently returned from a 2 week holiday in Tenerife. We stayed at the Christian Sur Apartments in Los Cristianos.

We should like to point out that, while our accommodation/rooms/pool areas/bar and cafe were excellent, our holiday was marred by the fact that during our last but one day at the complex, our apartment was broken into and mobile phones, ipod, cam corder, wallet, purse and presents were stolen together with a few personal items. We had gone to the beach for the day so had locked both front door and patio door (we were on top floor - 30 feet up). We found that there were no signs of forced entry.

The person on Reception at the time was not interested and told us to contact the police.

We can't actually accuse anyone of the break in but we do have our suspicions!!!!

So if anyone is thinking of staying at this complex please take care of your valuables.

" We had a fabulous holiday and booked... "

We had a fabulous holiday and booked our beautiful apartment with Gaynor & Richard at Atlantic Horizons. They have an on site office, and everything was there for us.
The weather was great and we spent some time round the pool and at the beach. Loads of sunbeds at the pool, so no problems.
The complex is in a brilliant location close to the centre and the beach, with a huge choice of eating places. El Brasero on the edge of thecomplex is great.
We had a superb holiday and the peace of mind ib selecting our apartment location before hand was a 'life saver'.
We can't thank Gaynor & Richard enough for making our holiday such a success, so much so, that we have already booked our apartment with them for 2009.
We will definitely tell our friends!

" Pleasantly surprised. Though did not... "

Pleasantly surprised. Though did not care for the two flights of steps. The room made up for it. Nice view of pool. Spiral staircase was a novelty the downstairs was enough for us two.

Plenty to do at night. Went to Lewinsky’s down the road. Nice meals at Angus steak house, on the block as Netto. Will go to Christian sur again. We also found good Irish bars, Irish times was excellent as was o'flahertys, cheers bar near Christian sur had good tribute acts really enjoyed Rod Stewart, also saw Cher, a very good act. We were very near to the bus terminal, had some nice trips, that’s when I wasn’t in the nearby Chinese store it was full of all sorts of weird stuff.

" Fabulous holiday. Had tonnes of fun.... "

Fabulous holiday. Had tonnes of fun. The resort is all very clean and well kept. The Cristian Sur has a certain buzz about it and the pool and trees are the perfect holiday photo. Very close beach.

Lots of parks at Tenerife such as:

The Aqua Park (more for 10+ ages)

The sky Park (any age group)

Las Aguilas (eagle park)

Mini Monkey Zoo

Loro Parque (Parrot Park)

and many more. 10/10!

" We LOVED this place. We stayed here... "

We LOVED this place. We stayed here form 15/06/07 till 29/06/07 it was brilliant.

We did not have the trouble that others had with loungers, there were plenty! The only thing I would say that was disappointing was the weather it was only sunny for 2 days out of 14!!

Also there is a man who hangs around outside the hotel asking for a "euro for a quick phone call". He was there every single day of our holiday and asked the same thing each day. Don't give him your money he is a weirdo!

Our room was gorgeous, the maids came almost every day. The staff there were very very helpful. All in all it was a lovely place, just a shame about the weather!!

" Our stay at the Cristian Sur was... "

Our stay at the Cristian Sur was superb. I thoroughly enjoyed it and believe that the sunbed thing was not as bad as others have said!

It was clean, tidy, and friendly! I am going again this year! The room was a great room and had a great view from both of the 2 balconies! Right above a pool which was beautifully lit up at night! The staff were all great and hard working and very friendly!

" I went to Christian Sur for 3 weeks... "

I went to Christian Sur for 3 weeks last July with family and had a great stay.

We stayed in 2 different apartments - something Verde and 2 or 3 Violeta (not sure) they were both excellent.

The first apartment Verde, was 2 bed roomed. It had a spacious living room and kitchen and a lovely balcony looking over the beautiful main pool. Upstairs there was an ensuite bathroom with shower and a huge bedroom which slept 4 and a roof terrace. The apartment also had a bbq and washing machine!

Violeta was also lovely, ground floor, exquisite furnished also with a pool view.

The main pool (bigger) was usually very busy and there was a struggle for sunloungers but when we didn’t get any in time we just put our towels on the grass. The other pool is much quieter with no shortage of loungers.

Food in the hotel bar was very good value and lovely for a lunch!

But I would really recommend the Chinese treasure 7 Euros all u can eat, and also the ice cream shop mm! The Texas steak house was also a favourite and was visited 3 times 4 its chicken Miranda dish...delicious!!

If you want shopping I suggest las Americas...phenomenal shops with shops like Zara and mango 2!

Whales and dolphins boat trip however was disappointing! saw 2 small Wales...that was it! sea was very rough that day!

Richard and Gaynor were very helpful, if a problem was mentioned in passing it was fixed in a flash. We were very hot and straight away 2 fans were delivered to the room.

They also will let you keep money in a security deposit box in the office!!

Overall an excellent holiday and I would go back in a hurry!

" Although we had expressed a wish to... "

Although we had expressed a wish to stay at the Cristian Sur, mainly because it was a smaller hotel and also holiday reports I'd read all said it was the better hotel, we wasn't surprised when we were put in the Tenerif Sur as the holiday reports also said that most people were put in the Tenerif even though they had pacifically requested the Cristian. We found out later that the main reason for this is because most of the apartments are privately owned.

The Tenerif Sur comprises of a large white block of apartments at the opposite end to the entrance of the hotel and several low rise apartments built around the pool, a few it seems are privately owned.

I'll be honest we were a little disappointed when we first realised we would be staying in the large white block, however, we soon realised that it was probably the best place because although the outside was a little neglected and could do with a lick of paint and some flowers in the troughs, we were far enough away from the pool and road not to be bothered with too much noise.

The apartment was clean and smelt nice and although not very big there was ample room for two and besides we didn't plan on being there all the time so it was sufficient for out needs. It was cleaned most days and the bins emptied everyday, even Sunday. Although some reports stated that the staff were unfriendly and not very helpful, I can honestly say that we found them the opposite.

The only place we found the staff a little unfriendly were in the bar/restaurant which is located at the entrance to the hotel but it didn't bother us too much. The beaches are about 10-15 minutes walk but are well worth it.

Los Cristianos is a very pretty place and the beaches are cleaned everyday, there are a wide variety of restaurants in fact we were really spoilt for choice. It’s not as lively as their neighbour Playa Des Las Americas which is a bit grim to say the least, but there are still plenty of bars to choose from.

There were a few 'touts' trying to sell you something or pull you into bars/restaurants but not as may as we have experienced in other places we've stayed and they never really bothered us. It was our first visit to Tenerife and we really liked Los Cristianos, we will definitely go again and would even stay in the Tenerif Sur. Judy & Pete (55 & 58)

" We had a terrible time there.
... "

We had a terrible time there.

As other reviewers have said there is a distinct lack of loungers and definitely not enough to go round.

Although we found a stack of them all chained up which the management refused to allow us access to, saying these were for the private residents only.

Which is another point they don't tell you about in the brochure, a lot of the apartments are privately owned be people who live there all the time so be prepared to be kept awake all night by the residents cats catterwalling to each other.

The decor is extremely dated and our apartment was dirty and unhygienic as all the Formica in the food prep area was in need of renewal.

The water pressure was clearly in need of attention as you would only get a trickle when turning on the tap and the shower was not much better.

Our balcony did not get the sun and instead of looking onto the pool, was above a busy dusty road.

Would thoroughly advise AGAINST going there. Maybe we just got a bad room though.
