Well... what to say about Berlin...

Berlin isn't like any other normal capital of a European country - it doesn't have the Eiffel Tower, or the Colosseum, or Big Ben - what Berlin has is a concrete wall, and that just about sums it up

Berlin is full of history - from when you arrive at Berlin Tegel Airport; even then you begin to get a sense of the atrocities that were committed. The city itself is extremely dull, with, obviously, very little ancient or historical architecture

Meininger City H&H was a brilliant place to stay. Within 1 minute from a train station, it provided easy access to everywhere in Berlin. On going to Berlin, you must - MUST - must buy a travel card for a week. For only €33.50, you can ride on buses, trams and trains for the whole week as much as you want, and it is a very good time saver

Breakfast was provided - continental, with a lot of choice, and then lunch and dinner was up to you to decide from the vast number of restaurants (and yes - a McDonalds of course) in Berlin

The city, although not being beautiful, has its attractions. The Tiergarten in the centre of Berlin is its own Hyde Park, with beautiful leisurely walks available. The Reichstag in the centre is truly magnificent, and you can go to the dome on the top and see Berlin for miles away

Visits to concentration camps and, of course, the Berlin Wall, are almost obligatory in some sense, although there is an unbelievable amount of Christmas markets, or Weihnachtsmarkt, around for shopping - the gingerbread is delicious!

The accommodation was superb in general - beds were comfy, TVs provided, ensuite, no communal showers. The staff were very friendly and happy to help.

There was also a bar and small restaurant, as well as a youth club attached to the hostel, so that people sleeping can get a bit of peace and quiet, and those wanting to party until the deathly hours of the morning may do so.

Overall - brilliant. Accommodation was super, staff were very friendly, public transport was amazing, food was of a wide variety, and Berlin itself was a wonderful city

Hope you have found this review helpful - have a good trip!
