Fabulous!
from Hrhtoni
My husband and I stayed at the Montana Pine in August 2006. It was our honeymoon and originally booked to go to Egypt, but due to terrorism issues, we changed to Turkey at the last minute. It was the best decision we have ever made. Although Marmaris was also targeted whilst we were there. There was an excellent police and security presence at all times, in the resorts and we felt completely safe at all times. There is a security lodge at the entrance to the hotel, and nobody gets past other than staff, reps and guests! The hotel itself was beautiful, the rooms were clean and tidy and we had the most amazing views of the surrounding Taurus mountains and the sea. The bathroom was amazing, with the most fabulous wet room style shower. We have stayed in some really dodgy hotels in the past, but this was heaven!! The food was excellent, with a good selection to suit all tastes. My husband is a fussy eater, and he tried and liked pretty much everything. The puddings were to die for!! Admittedly, towards the end of the holiday things were getting a little samey, but we did eat out occasionly anyway. There were some fabulous traditional Turkish restaurants in Olu Deniz . The pools were out of this world, with an excellent waiter service whilst you basque in the sun. The Turquoise snack bar makes the most amazing pizzas and the Calzone is an absolute must!! The sunset bar had the best views over the blue lagoon and surrounding mountains. Although the bar prices were a little high, they reflected prices throughout the nearing resorts of Hisaronu and Olu Deinz! Turkey, just isn't as cheap as it used to be! We had some fabulous days out and can recommend a number of the trips offered by the local tour operators. Dalaman mud baths, Tlos, Sakklikent and Yakka park were all excellent days out. We also went microlighting (arrange this through your rep, as you know the insurance is above board), and was the best £50 we spent. We went at sunset over Hisaronu and Olu Deniz, and it was truly breathtaking. Hisaronu is a little Blackpoolie with neon and karaoke, but very family friendly with some fab bars and shops. For a more beach bum feel, Olu Deniz is for you. Very relaxed and chilled is the only way to describe this place. We feel in love with this place, and it will hold a special place in our hearts forever! We had some fabulous long lazy days on the beach, snorkelling, drinking beer and watching the Parasending Adrenalin junkies junping off Babadag! Don't be put off by horror stories people tell about Turkey; it's a beautiful country. The people are very friendly, the scenery is stunning and it's steeped in more ancient history than Greece and Italy put together! A truly wonderful place!
Nice and peaceful

We had a lovely week at the Montana Pine resort, really safe. The hotel was recommended by a colleague and didn't disappoint. The weather was perfect although the pools were freezing! I can imagine the weather being unbearably hot in the height of summer. This was the last week before the hotel closed for the winter. The place is spotless and we felt we had the hotel to ourselves. The staff are welcoming and even invited us to their end of year party and the food is very good, great selection of meats and lovely salads for the veggies. We were pleased we only went for a week as you get a bit stir crazy after a while. Watching the sun go down at the sunset bar is spectacular and not to be missed. It is certainly not the place to go with an only child and being set in the mountains outside the resort could make some feel a little isolated. The bedrooms were average and the ones we stayed in were a little small and tired. Usual noise from banging doors etc. We spoke to the owner and they are doing a lot of refurbishment over the winter period which should make the hotel even nicer. A few negatives not being allowed to flush your used toilet paper down the toilet, it has to be placed in a bin at the side of the toilet and removed by the maid daily and the mozzies were a nuisance. We used sprays and a plug in repellant all to no avail! We would take nets next time to put over the beds. There was a lot of wasps but they didn't seem to bother you. Oludeniz resort is great, the blue lagoon is not to be missed and considerably warmer to swim in than the pool. We went on the mud bath trip and had a turkish bath which were both a hoot. Also for the guys a cut throat shave is a must. The week we went included the international paragliding championship which was good to watch nutters from around the world throwing themselves off the Babadan mountains before landing gracefully on the promenade, watch out when a shadow suddenly appears over your head, good fun.
Generally really nice - just a couple of issues.

We stayed at Montana Pine w/c 23/10 - the very last week of the season. The hotel was quiet and relaxed, and we were really lucky with the weather, which was perfect. I totally agree with all the positive remarks made by other reviewers. The hotel is in a fantastic setting. The food is good and the hotel staff were generally pleasant. However, there were two rather large negatives for me. The rooms were very tired on the inside. The carpets were shabby, to the point of being dirty. As were the curtains and bed covers. The rooms were also very noisy. They are set in circular blocks of 16, on two levels. Therefore all the room doors face each other across an open rotunda. Consequently if a door slams (and they do - often!), everybody hears it. It's a shame really, because these issues will be enough to prevent me from returning to Montana Pine.
Peace, great views and good service

Booked direct with hotel as our holiday fell through 2 weeks before we were due to go in late October 2006. Weather was great all week but wet the week before. 1/2 board was 35euro pp/night which I think was very reasonable. The price included transfers to/from Dalaman airport. Lovely location surrounded by pine trees overlooking a valley leading down to OluDeniz. Good standard rooms, most as far as I could see had nice or great views. Buffet breakfast and evening meals were great with a good choice and dinner changed every day. I had to try really hard not to eat too much of the starter (olives, cheeses, loads of salads etc) to save room for the main course. Two coaches each way daily to Olu Deniz beach. The lagoon bit is 2.5lira (£1) to get in for the day. Hisaranou is a 15 minute walk but unless you want trinkets and offers of feesh and cheeps UK style I wouldn't really bother. The Dolmus to Fethiye goes through Hisaronu and costs about £1. The big sporty thing in OluDeniz is paragliding. Looks a stunning experience. It costs about £40 for a tandem skydive from the mountain peak which is about 2000m high. They land on the beach/prom. Boat trips from OluDeniz and Fetiyhe are fantastic. We paid £27.50 each for a posh hotel organised trip including transfers from the hotel to Fetiyhe. This included lunch and lots of stops for swimming in various lovely spots. You can pay much less for a slightly less luxurious trip. We had a 2nd boat trip which cost £5 each including lunch for the whole day. Superb bargain. Drinks are extra but not expensive. On your boat stops touts come and ask if you want to buy freshly made pancakes cooked on the little boats or a 10 minute ringo or jetski hire. You can haggle over the price. The Turkish bath or Hammam is well worth a try in Fetiyhe. It costs 25lira (£10) for the basic. Wonderful! Turkey is a bit scruffy but people generally are very friendly in my experience. Recommended!
The best holiday ever
from baldielocks
My husband and I returned from two weeks at the Montana Pine on 16th October. We have just had the best holiday we have ever had. The hotel is absolutely wonderful an d the staff couldn't be more helpful or friendly, They made our holiday really enjoyable. The food was superb and we could not get over the choice, we were there two weeks and rarely saw the same thing repeated. The grounds are really beautifully kept and the mountain views spectacular. We were not too keen on paying for everything in the hotel on the credit card system but it did not spoil our holiday. The bill can, of course, be settled every couple of days so as not to have a shock on departure. We will certainly be returning before too long, I hope, and can thoroughly recommend the Montana Pine for a wonderful holiday.
unbeatable

Simply the best holiday we,ve ever had. Nothing is to much trouble for the wonderful staff at this hotel. The property is spotlessly clean with some of the finest views available in Turkey. I have never been to the same place twice, but will be returning to this hotel next year for my holiday. UNBEATABLE
Excellent Fortnight
from andymagoo81
My girlfriend and I spent a fortnight at Montana in mid-september, travelling through First Choice. The holiday was fantastic, and we could not recommend the hotel more highly. The rooms were comfortable, bathrooms excellent and the bedrooms came with a well stocked mini-bar, some products within at fairly reasonable prices, as discussed above. Whilst our room did not have a view as such, many did, and all roms come with a balcony, and furniture which is very useful for drying swimwear! there seems to be a bit of variatyion in the size of the rooms, though to be honest, this did not particularly bother us as we were out either at the pool or exploring during the day, and there is plenty of lounging space at the hotel, both in the evenings and during the day. Our housekeeper worked very hard tidying up after us, and we always returned to an extremely clean room. We and a few other guests found the energy saving lightswitches a bit tempremental, though this problem was remedied by the technical staff, or a little bit of tweeking the switch. The rest of the hotel is imaculately presented, groundsstaff are always clearly attending to the plantings, sweeping drives, etc. The pools are extremely clean, and dosed with chlorine every day. We never had problems finding sunloungers, and indeed one of the pools was not even visisted during our stay, the other two more than sufficient for our purposes. The food at the hotel is fantastic. Breakfasts are buffet, and of a hybrid turkish, continental and english type, comprising freshly cooked omelettes or pancakes everyday (the latter were fantastic!), a couple of hot options, a range of turkish/continental pastries, very fresh bread with toaster, cold cuts, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereal (and proper milk - not UHT!), a range of teas, coffees, and fruit juice, with the option of freshly squeezed orange juice at an extra cost. Lunch is taken by the pool, the turkish seletions are excellent, though may attract some wasps. Icecreams, further drinks and so forth is available throughout the day. Its worth working up an appetite for dinner, which was brilliant. The selections tended to be fairly turkish, though . whilst some people have said the food got a bit repetative, because of the range on offer, i rarely doubled up, and it was perhaps only weekly or more that the same dishes appeared again (apart from staples such as rice, grilled veg, and such like). Soup, loads of cold starters, freshly grilled meats, a range of side dishes, and an excellent pudding counter, with a selection of turkish and western deserts, and fruit was one of the high points of the day, waddling back to our room or to evening enterainments after dinner we always felt extremely content. my girlfriend is very veggie, but there was always tonnes of stuff for her. though dinner is a buffet, the food is all extremely fresh, and the trays of food are exchanged, rather than topped up. We didn't bother with wine, though they carry one of turkey's top 'brands'. Dinner by the pool is really special, and one of the best meals i have had...ever! hotel facilities and animations could not really be faulted. available for free: sun loungers, board games, giant chess, table tennis, book exchange, daytime activies (rifle shooting, petanque, aquafit), a compact but well equiped gym, jacuzzi, three swimming pools, shuttle service down to the beach (extremely worthwhile), evening entertainments on site ('charisma show', live music, dance show, comedy sketches, bingo, mr/mrs montana, various others). if football is your thing, they show games on a big screen tv in reception. at a cost, internet access, mini golf, tennis, and pool towel hire (bring your own, or buy out there if you are staying for a week or more), sauna, massage/physical therapy. the montana boat trip was a brilliant day out, and i would reinforce the comments made by other reviewers. the crew are really friendly and helpful, always around, but never intrusive (as with the hotel staff, too). The boat takes a maximum of twelve, is extremely comfortable, and the route taken mixes bay of fethiye must-visits, and secluded coves, plus time at sea. Included is an excellent lunchtime meal, which equals the hotel's evening one, teatime snacks and tea, (don't bother with buying an icecream from a third party vendor unless you are REALLY hungry!), and a glass of sparkling wine on your return to fethiye. it's a really relaxing, fun, and excellent value for money day out. The staff are faultless, extremely helpful, very courteous and keen to help out however they can. All are keen to talk about hteir work or turkey, and work tremendously hard (ten days out of eleven on the job) Criticisms and responses to other reviews: You can ask reception for a bill at any point, and pay it off in chunks. wasps are an issue, as someone mentioned, it's the fear of being stung that gets you! if you are after a hardcore party atmosphere, you would be best looking elsewhere, or be prepared to pay for a taxi into hisaronu in the evenings. The surrounding area is very interresting. get the free bus to olu deniz, and visit the park there. some of the shops are very good. buzz and help! bars are good though very expensive by turkish standards. Oba Ho(s)tel does excellent food. Do take the boat to butterfly valley - there is a water bus service, as well as a trip which includes lunch. the walk through butterfly valley is very peaceful, though getting to the actual waterfall is lethal. You can get a dolmus from the bottom of the approach road to fethiye for £1ppn/way. don't bother with the weekly market there (the one in Hisaronu is just as good), but do visit the bazaar and daily market. the rock tomb above the town is signposted from , and isn't too taxing a walk. we couldn't be bothered to work out how to get to the castle, the view of the town from the tombs is just as good. kayakoy is worth a visit - you can walk there from hisaronu in about an hour and a half, and get a dolmus back, but try to avoid being cornered by people offering to show you around the churches - or you will be compelled to buy a necklace! tlos, saklikent, and yaka park can be accessed on a dolmus from fethiye, or get a trip through your operator or with one of the firms in hisaronu. hisaronu is the turkish cousin of skegness and with . cheap and cheerful, it has a range of good holiday shops and services, some good cafes (Our place, off the main road for veggie food, and Pancake House at the end of the Kayakoy road are both excellent, the latter do excellent and dirt cheap crepes (2x crepes, 2x coffees, a big bottle of water for 11ytl). Look out for the free local english language newspapers, available from 'Azda'. I recommend the lonely planet turkey guide, it gives good hints, though its slating of hisaronu is perhaps a little undeserved! We had a really excellent holiday at Montana Pine, the hotel is very relaxing and comfortable, and can induce a lethargy that means trips out become something of a chore! We'd recommend the holiday to anyone, though there are a few steep slopes and stairs in the hotel complex. It was an excellent value for money holiday, and well worth paying for.
Lovely hotel with location to die for!
from MadamMuck
We stayed at Montana Pine for 2 weeks in mid-September and overall we really enjoyed our stay and would love to go back. On arrival, the location and view is breathtaking. I have to say though, after checking in and on going to our room, we were really dissappointed that our room was on the very top tier facing the mountain the hotel is built on. This basically meant we had a TINY balcony facing a brick wall with no view whatsoever. I think from looking at the website and reading people's reviews on Tripadvisor we had built up in our mind this image of flinging back the curtains and stepping out onto the balcony every morning with this spectacular view but it was not to be. We tried to change rooms but they were fully booked (which speaks volumes about the hotel actually!) Anyway, after we got over the initial disappointment, we were pleased with the room itself and the bathroom was spacious and spotlessly clean. In fact, a special mention should be given to the lovely maids who do a great job every day and always have a pleasant smile and a greeting. The food is wonderful (although we ate in town 3 or 4 times for a change) The grounds are stunning and the bees were not a problem for us. You just have to ignore them instead of flapping! The staff are, in the main, outstandingly friendly with a couple of exceptions but they work soooo hard and long hours! They put us to shame. The only negative thing I can think to say about the Montana Pine (which is really a fault of guests rather than the hotel itself) is people slamming doors first thing in the morning and when they come in at night. We actually felt as though, in our chalet, people returning late at night/early hours of the morning were slamming doors and annoying the people who were trying to sleep. So the people who went to bed early, seemed to be getting their own back on them by getting up at 7.30am and slamming their doors to wake them up. It has to be said that throughout our 2 weeks, we found this REALLY annoying. Perhaps if the hotel put anti-slam devices on the doors this would be a great benefit to the hotel and its guests. Or maybe if people were just a bit more considerate for other people... ! Anyway, I move on.... We did the Montana Pine boat trip which was an absolute must. An amazing day sailing around the most beautiful coves being looked after like royalty. We then hired a car for our second week and got out and about, the whole area is lovely and the people are really friendly. So, would I recommend Montana Pine? ABSOLUTELY. I'm sure we'll go back (with some earplugs next time though!)
Montana Pine Resort, Quality Place
from muppet5555
Just got back from the Montana Pine Resort and it was wicked. This place is sooooooo nice, not to be missed. I went with my girlfriend and her mum on 18th Sept for a week. Hotel is really nice and the staff can't do enough for you. There so friendly.I recommend you book the hotel seperate as well as flights as the hotel will pick u up and you get free tea and coffee, safe, wine and a fruit basket which i beleive you do not get going through a tour oparator, oh you also get a better view to. We saved about a £100 each not going with a tour company. We arrived at 2 in the moning and where greated with a free drink and a sandwich, nice touch. Food at the hotel is really nice and is made fresh at breakfast and dinner. Every moning i was chatting with the chef about football as he was making my eggs or omleette. There are 3 pools to choose from and they are all really nice. You dont have to worry about getting up dead early to get a sun bed as the hotel has a no towel policy, ie, they do not let you leave your towel on the sunbed and wonder off for hours like Spain. there are also plenty of sunbeds to cater for everyone. There are plenty of bars at the hotel and the waiters are great and pretty funny, do tip them coz they sort you out. I recommend going to the sunset bar and watching the sunset go down. The hotel has outstanding views from all areas. The place also has outstanding gardens which are always being maintained. The hotel is in between Hisaranou and Olu Deniz. You can walk to Hisaranou, takes about 15 mins or get a cab for £3 or a dolmus for £1 Hisa is pretty tacky, full of shops selling knock off gear. It is good for a night out though. Its one long street full of bars, clubs and restuarants, Benidorm in turkey really. Everything is in English, they love Ebglish money here. I recommend, Gran boosey and Time Out bar, sommat for everyone here and you do not get hassled to go in the bars which is great. Olu deniz is alot more chilled. Great beach bars, you can walk there but its pretty far, wouldn't recommend it, best of getting a dolmus or a cab, its about £8 in a cab. recommend going in Buzz beach bar, well chilled. Make sure you spend a day at the blue lagoon to, its a must see. Overall Montana is in a great place and its only a short cab ride to te to main towns. They do there own boat trip which is great, take you to some great lagoons where you can snorkel. They provide you with a meal, and there are no more than 12 of you. We saw other boat trips and they where jam packed full of people. really recommend this. I really do like this hotel, every thing about it was great, overall high was the deserts, they were sooooooo nice. Only down side of my holiday was that it rained all day on the 2nd to last day (can't be helped) as it is late Sept and it was cold at night. Really strange as it was in the 90's in the day. Oh and the wasps, pain in the bum but dont let that put you of, if you dont flap at them then your ok. You are in a pine forrest after all Brilliant hotel and im defo going back. id give it a ten out of ten. Ps, dont buy a mcdonalds in dalaman airport £8 for a big mac meal, bit steap
Blissful

We have just returned from a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable week at Montana Pine. We had been reading these reviews so were more than a little concerned to see the numerous references to the wasp problem, as my husband is allergic to stings and would suffer anaphylactic shock. Not a minor inconvenience. With this in mind we went along with more than the usual supply of medication and a certain amount of trepidation. We should not have worried. Yes there are lots of bees (the mountains are full of beehives for honey production) and quite a few wasps, but sensible precautions such as wearing flip flops when getting to the edge of the pools and back and avoiding eating outside at breakfast time proved to be enough to prevent any incidents. The hotel itself is lovely. The gardens are a wonderful oasis and the atmosphere was very quiet and calm. This could have been due to the fact that we were there during school term time and there were hardly any children about. The food on offer was excellent. This is a Muslim country so it is wrong to expect bacon and sausage 'Full English' for breakfast. There were however a large selection of different breads with jams honey etc. plus all the usual 'Continental' breakfast items of cheeses, yogurts etc. There was always boiled and scrambled eggs and some some morning freshly cooked omlette and fruit juice, teas and coffee. You would have to be unreasonably fussy not to find something to suit you.The same could be said of the evening meal where there was a wide selection to chose from. We were only there for a week so didnt have chance to get bored with the choices. The hotel was full whilst we were there but we had no difficulty getting a table for two outside at dinner. Our room was very nice with a side view of the mountains. It is worth remembering that rooms face out all around the circular buildings so only about 50% will have a view out across the valley. The best views are from the first floor rooms but they do encourage families with young children to use the ground floor rooms, I assume for balcony safety reasons. There are no lifts and the mountain rooms do have a steep walk up to them so if mobility is an issue it would be worth bearing this in mind. The three pools are all really lovely and as incredibly clean and well kept as the rest of the complex. Meals and snacks are probably more expensive than in the nearby town but by no means extortionate. the equivalent of £4.00 for a lunchtime pizza, coffee for £1 and £2 for a large beer - delivered to your sunlounger - not bad. We found all the staff very friendly and helpful despite having to work very long shifts. Staff who had been on duty all day at the poolside snacks could be found and hour later waiting on in the restaurant. Our main reason for this holiday was rest and relaxation It was our first time in Turkey but we would certainly return to Montana Pine in the future and venture out to the surrounding countryside. Our one attempt at an outing (on the Montana boat trip) wasnt to be, as the boat was booked up for the week. It only takes 12 people at a time so if you would like to do this (and everyone who did said they had a wonderful day) I would book as soon as you get there. In the end we went for a microlight trip instead - not quite as relaxing but great fun in a 'white knuckle ride' sort of way. the Montana is probably not a great choice for families with young active children but for couples, groups of friends and those with very small children it would be hard to beat. The one sour note of the whole holiday was Dalaman airport. It cost £12 for two polystyrene cups of coffee and a bread roll with a teaspoon of tuna in it! You are a captive audience unless you take something with you - next time we most certainly will.
The hotel was in a very beautiful situation with very well looked after gardens which were a joy to walk around. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very basic for a 'platinum' rating. Food was more like 3 star - no real choice of fruit (never been... more
