Elga Aparthotel

First of all, I'd like to tell anyone who's worrying about going to this hotel, not to worry!
My friend and I went to the Elga with a few worries after reading some pretty ancient reviews, which we probably shouldn’t have! We got our deposit back in full, without any problems at all.
The room was basic but clean and everything you need from a cheap holiday. Spent a fair bit of time just chilling on our balcony with a few beers, then heading out clubbing after. Cracking time!
The location deserves a 10 out of 10 because bar street and the beach are about 5 mins walk. The supermarket is also stupidly close...and dirt cheap!
Went home with loads of duty frees from that supermarket, including a bottle of passoa!! I recommend passoa and lemonade to anyone heading out to Kos...lush!!
The only down sides from my point of view were the Escapades reps. Basically just out to rip us off. We booked one 'excursion' with escapades which was a pool bbq. The reps told us the food was going to be amazing....and well frankly it was crap. We paid 12 Euros each for it and felt a bit annoyed when it was all over.
Plus, when you spend your days lazing round the pool you should know that you're not allowed to eat/drink anything that hasn't been purchased from the Elga pool bar. I can understand that maybe with the food...but with water? In 80 degree heat, when the water behind the bar is seriously overpriced and all the residents are hungover then why deprive everyone of their own sneaky bottle of water? Especially near the end of your hol when you’ve got no money left! Lol.
Also look out for a couple of seriously miserable cleaners! Lol.
If you like a lay in then look out for uninvited guests at about 11am. They have a key to your door and they WILL let themselves in!! Lol.
Overall, this holiday was everything I expected for the price I paid. Met some cracking people, and might even be going back out there in September! Wooooo!
Have a great holiday anyone who’s reading this....stop worrying about the negative reviews and just enjoy your hol.

I was worried after I read the reviews but was pleasantly surprised!
The rooms are clean and spacious, the pool was clean and not too busy and the bar was always a good place to finish the night out!
We had a really good holiday and would definitely stay at the Elga again.

It has to be said I was more than nervous heading out to this hotel having read the reviews. However, I found the Elga to be a great hotel. It's close to everything, the family that run it are really friendly especially Dimitris who bought me and my friend a drink one night in the bar just to be friendly, our apartment was clean but simple (all you can expect from a 2 star hotel!).
The pool was clean and I swam in it every day, we got our 80 euro deposit back as did most of our friends (some had broken stuff!). I'm assuming the negative reviews are from people who expected 5 star luxury whilst paying for a 2 star hotel.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who does not expect more than they are paying for and anyone who likes a laugh. Am maybe going back next year. Elga does exactly what it says on the tin- clean, simple, and fun!

I have just come back from a fantastic week in Kos and decided to have a look to see what others thought of the Alga. Couldn’t believe all of the bad comments on here. We did have to pay an 80 Euro deposit but we got it all back when we left and the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly.
Butch the barman is ace and really made us feel so welcome. The atmosphere there was so friendly, we really felt like we were leaving friends, our reps were also brill. Kardamena itself is also great, I would recommend Krackers bar on the harbour front, all of the staff are wicked.
Would definitely recommend the Alga to anyone (there were also lots of couples there when we were there), it was a great holiday.

Elga apartments are only good for large groups of people who want a massive **** up. The hotel never sleeps and is right next to the night club. You will never ever sleep there, not because of the hotel, but because there are hundreds of people walking to the night club every single night and screaming England songs. I never slept before 4 in the morning and had to drink to sleep. The reviews are bad but I also got my deposit back with no hassle at all. The staff were fine and Kardamena itself is very loud and full of groups of people getting wrecked every night. The Stone Roses pub is great and the staff are wicked. But I wouldn’t stay at the Elga and I would try and stay a bit out of Kardamena as I expect every where is really loud. When I went there were loads of females, none older than 21 and most look about 17 - 18. The PR's there are fine and don’t hassle too much. Not the kind of place to go with a partner or even if you like to sleep. Oh the hotel is dirty and hardly cleaned the floor was always dirty and never cleaned. There's also cockroaches living in the sink. The pool looks like it doesn’t get cleaned so you’re swimming in dead insects. Kos Town is lovely and you can do more than just drink all holiday. Hope this helps and I do advise you change hotels if you booked there.

Elga apartments is Fab! Just got back from spending a week there with my mate and we were a bit worried with all the nasty reviews we had read. Just to confirm that we did get our deposit (80 euro) back, minus 1.50 euro for a glass that we misplaced (drunken nights). Also we lost 2 towels which blew away off the balcony but we did not get charged for these, also we did mark our sheets but again did not get charged for these.
The hotel is great and the pool is too, nice food at the snack bar and the hotel staff (and dog) are all wicked!
The resort is great would def go back again (thinking of becoming a annoying PR next year) would def consider living at Elga! As its not too far from anything and like I say is fab.
When your there if you like R&B go to bar 1960 which is in the resort square, the music is great and the staff are great too, big hello to everyone who worked there and thanks to Anna, Alex and Dan! Also go to Nemo's for something to eat the staff again are lovely and the food is lush too!
Seriously don’t believe the bad reviews on this place, the rooms are quite big and it has everything you need - wicked!

These people obviously are slightly simple! The Elga Hotel is a brilliant hotel if you’re young and looking for a good time for the summer! We went in 2004 and went straight back in 2005 and I’m going in a weeks time all for 2 weeks!
The deposit you leave for breakages on day one is fair enough, the give you a list of what should be in your room and ask you to check exactly what there is, if anything’s missing they replace it, by the end of the holiday if anything’s gone, you pay for it! The prices they charge are steep but I would like to add that it is not the hotel owners who do this, the cleaning staff run this side of things and has nothing to do with the Elga hotel itself!
We made good friends with the owner Dimitris and his brother Pedro and also there friend Theo who now lives down in London, who we’ve met for a drink.
The hotel couldn’t be friendlier! Recommend for 18 to 30's, basic, clean and a good laugh round the pool! What more do you need, you’re rooms only a base for your holiday! Ten out of ten!

Hade a great week at the Elga in Kardamena enjoyed the town (village) and found the apartment to be adequate – clean, spacious and well maintained.
The reception was informal (great) but there were staff on hand at all times if you needed assistance – The Hotel dog is a dude!
The apartments are well located just a few hundred yards from the sea front – but far enough from the busy town centre to let you have a nights sleep!!
Visiting the Elga in early June was great – the town was getting ready for the summer rush so everything was open the bars and restaurants were beginning to fill up but it was easy to find a bar and table ( I guess it will be more difficult as the summer goes on) the Bar in the Elga is well appointed and Darren the Bar man mixes a fine drink and is a good source of information on where to eat and what to do.
Preferring the quite life – Zorbas Bar on the sea front just out of the town to the left as you look at the sea was a great find – wonderful if you are looking for a moment of solitude - and just far enough away from the busy town centre!
Loustros (not sure about the spelling) was a great eating place right on the sea front with good Greek food and an international menu – well worth a visit.
I will go back to Kos and I will go back to the Elga – June and September would be best for me just hot enough at 27 – 30 degrees and not too busy! Well done Elga.
PS Had no problem with the breakage deposit as I see others have had so look after the place and do speak to the staff and do pat the dog! – They are all there to make your holiday fun.

Kardamena was ok itself though all bars have to turn the music off at midnight!! Though there are a few good clubs to choose from which are open til all hours. If you want a nice holiday DO NOT book the Elga apartments.
They will take an 80 euro deposit from you which you will not get back. They charge u for dirty sheets, dirty towels, the lot. They are not even clean when they give them you. We were there 2 weeks and no joke our sheets and towels were changed twice.
On check out they tried to charge us 250 euros for a broken door lock which we didn’t even break. The lads next door got charged 300 euros for a cracked tile on the balcony which they never broke and if you don’t pay they DO call the police who arrest you so then you miss your flight and end up paying for a new flight home. Its nothing but a big con.
I've been Greece many times and yes its always basic but the rudeness and cheek of the staff at this hotel was out of this world. The pool was also disgusting, for 2 days no one went in it as it was so dirty. If you have booked up to stay here already use the pool next door. Much cleaner and the staff there are great. Foods much better to.
The only good thing about these apartments is Butch the bar man!! Would go to Kardamena again but definitely not these apartments. They are a disgrace and Airtours really need to look into how people get treated when they stay here!!

Kardamena is great but the ELGA APARTHOTEL is disgusting. From day one no hot water, room was filthy. Towels and sheets were marked before we even had time to use them. Management and staff were rude to everyone not just the young ones. Wouldn’t advise anyone to go to the ELGA unless you can afford to be ripped off. Definitely go to Kardamena again but the Elga? A definite NO NO.
