This Hotel is lovely, the staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms, hotel and pool areas are clean. The breakfast was good with a lot to choose from. We would stay there again but the down side is the distance it is from 'the strip' and further again from 'the old town'.... more

Friendly affordable hotel
I stayed here for a week. Staff were friendly and polite. Room was spacious and comfortable with daily cleaning & fresh towels only criticism was the lumpy pillows! Breakfast was standard continental but fresh served in a panoramic restaurant which sadly is only used for breakfast no evening meals at this hotel. Bar prices are reasonable to. Pool is small, quiet and relaxing there was enough sunbeds too. Location of hotel is about 10/15 minutes from the village centre and 10 mins to nearest beach and bus or taxi to main resort... more
Very Good
We have just returned from a week at the Velamar Hotel. The hotel is located in a very peaceful village, not far from Olhos d'Água. It's a 3 star hotel with a 4 star service. Very clean, lovely decoration, friendly staff, free internet wireless in public areas, lovely varandas with table and chairs. Very lovely continental breakfast with a variety of breads and fruits. The Hotel doesn't serve dinner, but there are several restaurants nearby (including an Indian Restaurant - Tiffany's)! The beach is not far, but if you have a car, go to... more
Very nice hotel.
Myself and a friend have just got back from visiting Albufiera in Portugal. We stayed at Hotel Velamar in Holos De Agua, we both found this hotel to be very nice and in a good location we paid £300 incl transfer fees for 7 days. Breakfast was good, very healthy. The only complaint is the neighbourhood's barking dogs. Not nice when you come back late from an intoxicating night out. However as females we felt very safe in Holos De Agua its 30 min walk to the Strip and 40 min walk to the old town which is more cultured and cheaper. if you... more
Nice Hotel but in the middle of nowhere
We have just returned from this hotel after a weeks stay. The hotel is very very nice and the staff are very freindly. The hotel is clean, modern and well looked after, along with the pool. However, this hotel is in the middle of nowhere, just outside a very small town called Olos D'agua. The Old Town is a good 10-15 minute taxi ride and costs approx 6-7 Euros a pop! There is hardly anywhere to eat in the immediate vicinity but the one decent restaurant that there is, called Tiffanys (an Indian resturant) is absolutely superb, spot on... more
Happy with the Velamar
We have just come back from a 10 day holiday in Albufeira where we stayed at Hotel Velamar. For a 3-star hotel we were really impressed with the standard. The room was of average size for a double with plenty of drawer and hanging space. It came with hairdryer, TV, mini bar & air con - no extra charge. Full bathroom, large size, bath, shower, toilet, bidet and wash basin. Small balcony overlooking the small pool. The rooms were absolutely immaculate and were kept that way throughout the duration of our stay, linen changed 3 times/week.... more
Excellent
There wasn't really anything about this hotel prior to travelling to the Algarve, so I was a bit worried about this hotel and what to expect. We booked bed & breakfast. Did we pick the right choice? Certainly! Once we arrived my first impression was very nice indeed and when we got to the room it was even better. The pictures of this hotel do it no justice. We stayed in room 11, which over looked the pool, good bed size, even a fridge in the room, plenty of storage and a good AC unit. Rooms were cleaned every day. The... more
Nice Hotel, Very Clean and quiet
We stayed here in September 07, and the weather was fabulous and hot. The beach is about 10mins walk, down hill and it's a really lovely beach. Bear in mind, it is then a 10mins walk back up and theres quite a few steps so might be difficult if have trouble walking or prams etc. The hotel room was fine for what we paid, bathroom was lovely and big. It was all very clean throughout the hotel and we had a room over looking the road (which is a busy and pretty noisy road), asked if we could move as soon as we knew which room we had, and... more
Great Time Had By All
We booked a 10 night stay for myself, my husband and our 11 year old daughter. On arrival we were very pleasantly suprised that it was much nicer than the photos on the website had given the impression. It was spotlessly clean with wonderful friendly staff. Our only complaints were that the pool was not cleaned as often as we would have liked and was, at times, full of leaves. Also, there was some building work going on that we were not warned about, but in all fairness, this did not affect us that much. It's best feature was definetely the... more
Great Hol!
Just came back from a great holiday in Albufeira, staying at Hotel Velamar, which is about a 30 - 40 min walk from the old town and the famous strip where all the pubs are. Very quiet hotel, but I can't fault the cleanliness, and the staff where very helpful and were only too happy to book taxis/trips for us. The breakfast room is a gorgeous room on the top floor with panaromic views, with a great selection to choose from, not the usual fry up, but there's plenty of cereal, fresh fruit, croissants, bread and yogurts. The pool... more
Good value for money...Clean small hotel
Booked the Velamar through TravelRepublic at last min in July 2006 for our 5 night stay in August 2006..We only paid £160 for our stay on B&B basis. Please be aware that this hotel isnt in the centre of Albufeira....(infact poss a 40mins walk away from the strip - 5euros in taxi), but in the small village of Ohlos De Agua, which is very nice and we were pleasantly suprised, but if you have small children and even a buggy the beach, bars and restaurants are down a steep hill. The area where the bars & eating places are approx a 10 mins... more
