Near to everything. But dont stay here if not planning on clubbing every night. We go out every night till 5am so noise not a problem for us but would for older couple or families. Nice rooms, clean and everything you need for a basic cheap holiday.

This apartments are 100metres from the beach and 150 metres form the Strip, the main road full of bars, restaurants, shops, etc... You just need to walk!
Apartments are small but OK for our needs. My terrace had a fantastic view over the sea.

This apartment is perfect for a hen weekend. The beach is 2 mins down the hill, with two supermarkets on route. Walk 2 mins up the hill and you are on 'the strip'. The strip is packed with clubs and bars....just what we were looking for. The rooms were basic but clean. ... more

Had a great time at Soldoiro Hotel. The rooms were spacious, clean and had everything we needed. We had a balcony which overlooked the beach! It was lovely. The location was great for access to the beach and just a very short walk to the bars and restaraunts! The staff... more

Wasn't impressed with this complex at all, I felt the place had so much potential but I'm sorry to say it let itself down. The rooms weren't great, they had pretty much just the basics and were presented badly. Generally everything in the room was a poor standard, the... more

The location was good although you had to be fit to climb the hill! It was ideal for our family having 17 & 15 year olds with us so they could go to the strip, which for me was a bit "kiss me quick"! The hotel itself was clean but basic. On arrival the room they gave us... more

Myself and my partner booked a two week holiday from the 6th - 20th August. We have had the holiday from hell. When we arrived at the Soldoiro we were given a studio instead of the one bed apartment we booked; no apology or reason were given for this and the next day when... more

Stay away from room 29! It was like a prison or a shed; we asked to be moved straight away but we couldn't be moved until the following day and even then we had to argue. We did get moved, the only difference was the room was a little bigger and we had a balcony. We... more

Disgusting, Rude, Ripped us off. Do Not Stay Here
We were booked into the Soldoiro for two nights. When we arrived we were checked into rooms down in the 'dungeon' at the bottom back of the complex. It was completely dark and we couldn't see where we were going as we couldn't find the light switch. We immediately asked at reception to be changed to different rooms as the Soldoiro obviously wasn't full. They immediately said 'No', without listening to our concerns for the safety and hygiene of these 'dungeon' rooms. We offered to pay more for a better room, however that was rejected as well. Outside of my sisters' room there were a number of bird nests on the ceiling. The rooms obviously never saw the light of day and smelt very musty. We decided to check-out of the Soldoiro shortly after checking in due to the lack of help from the reception staff and their lack of flexibility with putting us in a different room. Due to the complex not being at full capacity we thought this would have been a reasonable request. The staff at Soldoiro informed us that we would need to apply for a refund from HotelsRus however since then the Soldoiro has finally replied to us saying that we didn't tell them our problems. They LIED about what time we checked in. They LIED about the lighting problem. They LIED and said we didn't ask to be changed to different rooms. DO NOT STAY HERE. It's worth paying a little more for a better place.
Cheap and Nasty
Have just returned from a 2 night stay over the easter weekend. First, the good points (it won't take me long). The location is very good. 100m down the hill to the beach and the same up the hill to 'the strip'. I got a very cheap deal through late rooms for my family (2 adults 1 child) - only €22 euros per night! On arriving the guy behind the desk demanded 'cash only' - that was the first alarm bell. We were given apartment 58 which I have affectionately knicknamed 'the bunker'. It is the lowest apartment in the complex (I could feel the earths magma) with a splendid view of a hillside. OK, it was clean. The kitchenette is pointless. It was so small as to be of no use whatsoever. The fridge door was broken. As we were only staying 2 nights and were out most of the day we couldnt be bothered to complain but as per the last reviewer, the guy on the desk would not have been interested anyhow. The clientele remind me of a youth hostel. Loads of load mouthed youths sat on their balconies. Security is a joke. Our building could be accessed directly from the road by anybody. At night most of the lights in the complex were broken. To cap it all the complex bar beats out music to about 4am and reverbarates through the whole complex. Avoid this at all costs especially if you have a family. There are thousands of better rooms in Albufeira, cleaner and safer.
Nightmare Apartments
Checked in on the 26th March, First room very dirty and to the front of the building Main road. Second room available after disucssion was on the third floor, (no lift) Late needed room. Damp, Dirty, not very nice, no choice. Windows rotten, wind and noise from road very loud. (Night time,) Disaster, noise from pub below untill 3am. People walking by all night, you could hear every sound all night. NO SLEEP. Next morning asked for another room, NO JOY all the same. ASKED for refund as we could not stay another night. Very RUDE male staff, "to bad" he said and was not prepared to make any refund or compormise in any way on our Eight night booking. I must say in all my years on the Algarve I have never been subjected to A DUMP of a building and the worst staff on a reception. DO NOT GO TO THIS HELL HOLE. Will be contacting Tourist Board and Solictor.
Great Apartments for Beach & The Strip
Booked these apartments based on reviews, despite there being one or two bad ones. As a basic self-catering apartment this was absolutely fantastic, had everything you needed and was cleaned daily. Had no problems with noise whatsoever. Ok, I have stayed in better places but the location of Soldoiro more than makes up for it. Our apartment had a sea view which was a bonus. It is on a steep hill, but it's only about 300yards up the way to the strip or down the way to the beach. One of the nearby supermarkets even sold diet irn-bru.....can't get better than that for a hangover. I will DEFINATELY use these apartments again.
Fantastic location!!!!
The Soldoiro is great! Its clean and tidy and the location is fabulous!! Just 2min walk from the strip! The pool is clean and there are always bed available. The apartments are a tiny bit dated but what more do you want!!?? They have a great shower, kitchen with kettle and plenty of room for clothes etc. We didnt spend that much time in the apartment really as we were out partying till 7am every morning. Ideal location for 2 girls on holiday alone! The beach is a 5 min walk away and there is a supermarket and lots of cafe bars within 5 mins also. We were only supposed to be there a week and ended up staying 11 nights! We have just booked to go back for New Year. Dont think twice about booking!
Good price, great location but not for the light sleeper!
This was our 5th stay in the "strip "area having previously stayed at the Velamar Apts, Vilanova complex, Dom Pancho and Club Praia d'Oura.(CPO). We booked a one bedroom apartment through Holidayroomsdirect, flights with Jet2 and transfers with Resorthoppa. When making the booking we requested top floor with afternoon sun on the balcony and this was met. We had an excellent sea/beach view but there was a penalty to pay for this, more on that later. Arrival- friendly staff, gave us tourist information leaflets/booklets. Apartment- kitchenette was small but sufficient for 2 of us. There was a 2 ring electric hob, microwave, fridge and toaster, lots of crockery, glasses and basic utensils. At the bottom of the hill there are 2 minimarkets plus a bakery for all your basic daily needs. The layout of apartments in this complex varies greatly, a plan in reception shows this. We had number 28 in block A. The balcony was large and mainly private, big enough to lay down on to sunbathe. This is not so for many of them, so it is luck of the draw at busy times what you would get. There isn't any aircon., fans are fitted in lounge area and bedroom and extra ones are available if required. There is an onsite self service laundry available at a charge. The pool is not huge but you are only 2 mins. away from a lovely beach. There is a kids section of the pool and some play equipment in the grounds sheltered from the sun. Entertainment for the time of year was Karaoke and live football matches were shown. There would be something each day in high season. We love the strip area for it's wide choice of restaurants and bars, don't miss having a steak at Farnels. We have been going there for years and it is the only restaurant where people are prepared to queue outside!! Our penalty for having a great view and location was the traffic noise, especially at the weekends when the locals would just drive up and down the hill at speed, also the bin compound was at the bottom of the block and they came to empty them at 3am!!!! We would stay here again but our request would be for a top floor in block C away from the road side.!!
Great Apartments
We stayed at the Soldioro in January 2006 and absolutely loved it. The apartments were very spacious (don't believe any other reviews that says they're small), clean and very well equipped. There was a regular maid service and regular towel changes. At the reception you can exchange money (5% commision charge), use the internet (1.50 euros per half hour), book airport transfers, hire a car or bike, book the sauna/turkish bath, book an excursion and other things. Safety deposit boxes are included in every room and cost 10 euros per week to hire plus a 15 euros deposit which you get back at the end of your stay. All rooms have a TV with a few english channels such as Sky News, CNN and BBC World as well as some of the portugese channels showing the occasional english movie or tv show. The balcony we had was very large with plastic chairs and table included and it had a lovely sea view. Electric heaters are included for use during the colder months which we found very necessary as it was warm during the day (even though it was January!) and cold at night. Overall we liked these apartments and would definitely go back. Email me at chris@chrisfulton.wanadoo.co.uk if you would like any further info.
Worst Place Ever!!!
These are the worse apartment I have ever satyed at. The apartment is like staying in a cave very very dated needs a major refurbishment and if you don't like yellow this isnt the place for you cos it's everywhere. If your the kind of person that like a modern standard accomodation with clean amenities dont go here. These apatments should have a maximum satr rating of 2* in my opinion. They were that bad that we used a resort nearby during the daytime and only returned to wash and sleep. I am a well seasoned traveller and have stayed in all types of places from apartments in Lanzarote to the 5* Plaza Hotel New York, this is a true opinion that I hope will help some people in not making a mistake of booking this place like I did.
What a gem!!
I was supprised to read the previous review, I spent 5 nights here in June and was thrilled with the apartment. I had no problems with birds or bird pooh for that matter. I sat out on my deck each day for breakfast or drinks in the evening I even dried washing out there. I found the apartment very clean and tidy it was nice to be able to cook meals if I wished it was great having the beach about 2 minutes away and also a little superette where you could buy supplies if you wanted to be selfsufficient. Honestly people must be very unfit if they have a problem with the socalled cardiac hill it's just a gentle slop certainly not something that would inspire heart problems some people are such wusses. So for a cheap apartment close to the beach I don't think you could do much better.
ermmm what can i say
well this is in a good location, 2 minutes to the beach and 5 mins walk to the main strip, but it is on cardiac hill, so if your bad on your legs its not for you. The apartments were clean, but on the veranda there are alot of birds nests and birds flying about everywhere, so you couldnt really sit out because of the pooh allover, apparently there is nothing they can do about the birds because they are an endangered species, thats what we were told anyway. The rooms themselves are quite old fashioned but they were clean and the people seemed ok, not that we were there alot, we just slept there and got changed there, they dont have air conditioning but there was a fan in the bedroom and the living room which were good. When i arrived i was supposed to be in a studio apartment but it was like being in a prison cell so i moved to a 1 bedroom apartment which was a little better, i didnt feel as closed in. I would go to portugal again but i dont think i would go to these apartments, they are not that bad really, as long as you dont want to sit out on the veranda eating dinner you will be ok.
