Near to everything. But dont stay here if not planning on clubbing every night. We go out every night till 5am so noise not a problem for us but would for older couple or families. Nice rooms, clean and everything you need for a basic cheap holiday.

Apartments from hell

Jul 2010, Emma84

Never go to this hotel....it is horrible the pictures they display do not reflect what the place is actually like. It is awful the rooms are unfurnished we have a pastic chair in the living area, the fridge was full of slime, the toliet smelt of raw sewage. We left the hotel the next morning. You could not lie at the pool it is so horrible nothing like the pictures. There is a building site across the road which starts at 6.30 am, the hotel its self is like a building site, broken tiles, cracked steps, empty beer bottles and rubbish, there also bars on your windows and doors. When walking into the hotel there was a party staying at the hotel, mainly men who spat at people on there way in and at people just passing, it turns out those men have a time share in the apartments. I would aviod it at all costs it is a nightmare. We moved the next day to Santa Eualia Beach Resort apartmments, excellect location in Praia de Oura, apartments were beautiful, excellent pool and gardens, staff where so helpful. I would highly recommend the Santa Eualia.

This apartments are 100metres from the beach and 150 metres form the Strip, the main road full of bars, restaurants, shops, etc... You just need to walk!
Apartments are small but OK for our needs. My terrace had a fantastic view over the sea.

This area of the Algarve is very nice, beautiful beaches, restaurants not bad.Wonderful weather, lovely sandy beaches. We have stayed in Albufeira before in the old town.
On this occassion we booked this holiday over the internet,it looked great so we were looking forward to our break for a week.Got to our apartment it was very basic, the whole building needs some tlc.The first three nights were nice and peaceful but the last four nights we did not get any sleep whatsoever, twenty teenagers had booked in to five apartments ,one of the apartments was next to ours and they had another one directly above us.They all went out at about eleven O'clock with their drinks making lots of noise as they went, they started to return at about 2am.going up and down the stairs banging doors, shouting etc.and this went on until 6.30am.Complained at recption several times but nothing was done.(we were not the only ones to complain)I even got out of bed at 4.30am and confronted them about the noise but they did not take any notice. The Manager spoke to them about the noise and keeping everybody awake but they took no notice. So we were glad to get home and have some sleep.

Our Stay

As a group we stayed at the apartments and as a result had 2 keys to access the room,on the first evening we came home and went to sleep as usual only to find the room had been burgled while we all slept, the reception claimed there was only 2 keys and we had them both so no other person had access except the cleaner, my advice to anyone staying would be very very carefull and use the safe for all possesions,we spent the next day in the police station and just to add the person/persons who entered our room certainly had a key to gain entry as no sign of a forced entry as police confirmed!!!

This apartment is perfect for a hen weekend. The beach is 2 mins down the hill, with two supermarkets on route. Walk 2 mins up the hill and you are on 'the strip'. The strip is packed with clubs and bars....just what we were looking for. The rooms were basic but clean. Nice hot shower, clean bathroom and comfortable bed - what more do you need? There is also a fridge for your wine!
The pool was lovely with plenty of loungers and a bar for drinks and snacks. I couldn't fault Soldoiro and would go back with my partner for a cheap beach get away.

Had a great time at Soldoiro Hotel....

May 2008, Miss M Welch

Had a great time at Soldoiro Hotel. The rooms were spacious, clean and had everything we needed. We had a balcony which overlooked the beach! It was lovely. The location was great for access to the beach and just a very short walk to the bars and restaraunts! The staff were very friendly which helped make our stay there really compfortable. The night life was great in Albufeira something there for everyone! Went on a girlie holiday but would also go back with family. The english fish and chip shop was one of the nicest Iv had including the ones back home! Never had a bad meal the whole time I was there. Would recommend Soldoiro hotel to anyone and would definatley go back! Anyone going, hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Wasn't impressed with this complex at all, I felt the place had so much potential but I'm sorry to say it let itself down. The rooms weren't great, they had pretty much just the basics and were presented badly. Generally everything in the room was a poor standard, the cupboards were falling apart, the kitchen was dodgy and the sheets were itchy. The only reason it gets a 2 is because of the weather we had!

My boyfriend and I stayed in these apartments. Firstly I would like to say the location is excellent, the beach is great - there is even better ones if you take a 10 minute walk left of the main beach.
We had an apartment, pretty basic, no sea view (did fax a request in May but this wasn’t honoured). It’s all a bit dated, pretty small and dingy. Saying that it was fine for us as we only wanted a comfy bed at the end of the day. Shower was fine although the unit was a bit dodgy, bits of it hanging off the wall.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The entertainment was kareoke, not sure what else is usually on in the busy season, but it was extremely noisy (our room was right above it) - not much sleep that night. We didn’t hear anything of the Strip as mentioned to us - most of the noise came from the apartments. ie. people coming back late etc.
Anyway it wasn’t all bad but we won’t be going back.

We visited the Old Town, which was lovely. We took a cab which was under 4 euros. Lots of pretty streets to wander around, lovely places to eat and drink, would recommend.

The location was good although you had to be fit to climb the hill! It was ideal for our family having 17 & 15 year olds with us so they could go to the strip, which for me was a bit "kiss me quick"!
The hotel itself was clean but basic. On arrival the room they gave us was awful but after speaking to the manager he did change us to another. The pool was small but it didn't really bother us much as we were 2 minutes from the beach.
The staff weren't over helpful but we got by, they were a bit mean with the towel changing and the room was cleaned that often but it was ok.
At the bottom of the hill was a supermarket, small shops and a few eateries. Best place was "Julies" owned by a lady from Brighton, it was superb! quiches, salads and baguettes all freshly made. The sangria she made was great and the hospitality second to none. A must if you like good food!
Overall good relaxing time.

Myself and my partner booked a two...

Aug 2007, Miss M Daoud

Myself and my partner booked a two week holiday from the 6th - 20th August. We have had the holiday from hell.
When we arrived at the Soldoiro we were given a studio instead of the one bed apartment we booked; no apology or reason were given for this and the next day when I asked to be moved I was told they had overbooked and it took two days to eventually be moved. When booking the holiday I requested a room high up, but when we were moved it was to a ground floor (number 19) which was basic and so I thought clean. That night however we saw the first of many cockroaches, not just tiny ones but they were the size of small mice. There is never anyone at the desk after 5pm, so we waited until the next day and we showed the receptionist the cockroach we had captured and all he did was pick it up in the glass and throw it out the balcony. We then rang our tour company to log a complaint as we were not happy about staying in the room which was clearly infested with cockroaches.
Also what the brochure doesn’t tell you is that there is a Portuguese nightclub situated 1min down the hill form the Soldoiro on the left hand side and this closes at 7am. You can hear the noise from this and the Portuguese people that leave make such a racket right up until 7.30am.
The worst was yet to come however, on the Saturday night (11th August) between the hours of 7.30pm - 10pm whilst we were out for dinner we were burgled. All of our valuables were taken from our safe including all of our money, two phones, bank cards, my ipod, jewellery etc. We were horrified and went straight away to the bar as the reception was closed. The staff speak very little english and it took an age to translate what had happened. The staff were very unsympathetic and unhelpful, and they claimed they didn’t know the number of the local police station. Bearing in mind we had just been burgled we didn’t have any money and they wouldn’t let us use the phone at reception because we couldn’t pay for it. We were so angry and hurt, and we ended up walking to a nearby hotel called Club Praia Da Oura. The receptionist there was so helpful and understanding and called the police to pick us up. He was horrified that our hotel had no manager on site and there is never a security guard at the Soldoiro like you get at the other hotel/apartments in Albufeira. We soon found out from the police why the staff at the Soldoiro had been so horrible to us, whoever burgled us had a key to our room and the police forensics stated on our police report that it was someone who worked at the Soldoiro had burgled us as they were the only ones who had a key and access to the safe. After the police left we were left on our own, as the receptionist had locked the bar and gone home and we were left with a broken door (it had been shoved hard as well as using the key) and we couldn’t possibly have stayed another night in that room and no alternative was given to us.
We ended up going back to Club Praia Da Oura to take refuge with our heavy suitcases at 3am, and the very kind receptionist let us sit there til 6am when the airport opened and we caught the first flight back to London. The Soldoiro is a very unsafe place, it has no manager on site (he visits occasionally from Lisbon), no security and the staff speak little or no English.
The apartments are very basic which I didn’t have a problem with, but we were infested with cockroaches and we even had a snake in our kitchen - I have photos to prove all of this. I am truly devasted and instead of being in Portugal enjoying the last week of my holiday I am now having to deal with insurers etc... Not what I call a relaxing break.

Stay away from room 29! It was like...

Stay away from room 29! It was like a prison or a shed; we asked to be moved straight away but we couldn't be moved until the following day and even then we had to argue. We did get moved, the only difference was the room was a little bigger and we had a balcony.
We didn't go near the pool as it looked small and the bar always seemed empty. The beds were camping beds and we both got bad backs by the end.
We did see much better hotels and for what we paid and if we had done more research we could of stayed somewhere alot better.
