Stayed at the apartments with my family. Had a great time, the apartments were of a very high standard. There is a pool for adults and a little kiddie pool also.
You are within reasonable walking distance of a Modelo Hypermarket, Lidl etc. Anna at the Reception was very helpful with ordering of taxis etc or information on attractions etc.
You can catch the little Giro buses (check which line you need, blue/green/yellow etc) which regularly run throughout Portimao/Praia da Rocha etc from 7am till midnight in high season and they are just over a euro for a single journey.
Nearest stop is at the Hotel Luar at the bottom of the hill before you reach the fountain on the way to the beach. Granted the main part of Praia Da Rocha is a bit of a walk but it is lovely walking along the seafront.
Turn right out of the Reception and go down the hill which will take you towards the beach at Praia Da Rocha, small beach or you can go further along the seafront to the main shopping areas where there is the main beach at Praia Da Rocha.
The Cactos Bar is a lovely little bar, on the way down to the beach, they serve really good milk shakes, toasties/snacks etc and the place is absolutely spotless.
The owners are very helpful and friendly, well worth a visit. Be careful going along the seafront as it is very slippy underfoot due to the marble type tiles used so watch yourself.
The Modelo Hypermarket has everything you need under one roof, Pizza Express too as far as I remember within the mall.
Taxis are not too expensive, about 5 Euros to go to the Modelo from the apartments. You can have a taxi called for you from the Reception for 50 cents. There is Multibanco ATMs all over where you can withdraw your Euros, nearest is at the end of the seafront near the main shopping area.
Use Nationwide Flex Account to withdraw your money and Credit Card to pay for larger purchases, no loading charges unlike other banks and you can use the flex account card like you use it at home, with no charges. (As at time of writing June 2007).
We are going back this year we enjoyed it so much last year. Hope you do too. Have a good time.
