Ponta Grande Resort

We are just back from the Ponta Grande and had an absolutely fabulous time. On the positive side ... Location, Location, Location.... 7 Minute walk to an incredible beach - which has beautifult restaurant and bar on the beach. 5 minute drive to get into the Albufeira Old town which has 100's of great restaurants, shops and coble lock streets. Got to say, when I arrived at the resort I was wondering if we (my wife and I) had chosen the right place to stay. While I had no problem with appearance of the hotel I was slightly concerned at how far we were away from "The Old Town" of Albufeira. Turned out I had nothing to worry about. Yes, these villas are a 5 euro taxi ride to the Old town, but I paid £300 a head (including flights) for a week here and think I more than got value for money. my friend and i are two females in our thirties. We booked our holiday on the internet last year for a week in ponte grande. At approximately 300 pounds each this was excellent value for such a high calibre establishment. The apartments were huge and spotless, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. swimming pool nice, quiet and clean. I booked on --- For a two week break for a family of 5 (includes a 19 & 15 year old boys and one 14 year old girl.) The total was about £1500 for flights accomadation and airport transfers. For me that sounded really cheap, so we went for it. We havent had a holiday in ten years so it was very exciting to have a break from the busy city life. We had a great holiday and would recommend this resort. The pool was big, refreshing, without being "cold" and not over crowded even though it was mid Aug and during the Portuguese's own 2 week summer holidays. We had one of the Resort owned apartments which was nice although perhaps missing some "luxury" equipment - e.g. dish washer. Had to hire hair dryer. On-resort mini market was very useful and cheaper than the small supermarket down the road. Great selection of restaurants close by: Chinese, Indian, Fish, Steak.<br... more

A great place to holiday - very friendly staff - will go again! Surrounding area quiet - tho good restaurants that we went to. Good for kids great 2 bed appt tho pool cold unless few days sun. Sometimes a little petty asking ie 1 euro to book taxi but minor prob - very good in conclus!

This Luxury holiday site is great for all ages. The atmosphere is really nice and all staff are friendly and helpful. The spacious appartments are great for relaxing in. This quite resort offers nice entertainment and has a nice atmosphere in the small bar area. There are only 20 houses opened to holiday makers which makes this resort quiet and relaxing. A brilliant, spacious apartment with helpful bar staff and a friendly atmosphere. The villas are huge and should be classed as villas, as they are in no way apartments. I wasn't expecting such a brilliant place and I could of easily bought the villa outright and lived there if I had the money. Would hugely reccommend it to anyone considering visiting Portugal.

Would be really interested in hearing more about your long term stay in Ponta Grande App. and a long term stay in general. Anyone else have any info or suggestions...... it would be appreciated.

What an excellent vacation here... even in January and February when we were there. The accommodations are excellent with large rooms and a very spacious terrace or balcony. Some have views of the Atlantic, but even without the view all are in a south-facing mode so everyone can enjoy the sun. Although listed as a two-bedroom facility, we used one bedroom for storage of "stuff" for the month. Utensils were excellent. Restaurants nearby are good...but we recommend having an automobile for the 4 km run into Albufeira. Nice... more
