Probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Luckily we were only there for one night as we passed through. It was so bad we slept on top of the bed fully clothed and even our teenagers refused to use the bath/shower which was disgusting. We finally tracked awful... more

Stayed there a while ago for a week for my first holiday away from the parents!!!! I had no idea what the hotel was supposed to be like but I had a great time, maybe a bit quiet for 3 teenage girls but very clean and friendly staff. Our 1 bedroom appartment was cleaned... more

We have just got back from a lovely 2 week break at the Perola with everything fresh in my mind so I hope this review helps. After looking into the hotel on websites such as this we already knew what to expect on our arrival so were not put off by the initial 'next to a car... more

Just got back from 2 weeks at the Perola and we had a great time. When we first pulled up at the hotel, I must admit I was a little disappointed as when we had dropped off at other hotels they were beautiful but when this hotel overlooks a multi-storey carpark, I was a bit... more

Really enjoyed staying at Perola do Algarve, we went for 2 weeks and had a great time! I agree mostly with all the positive comments already written. We preffered the old town as it had a great atmosphere...the new town is more just bars but still a good night out. Staff... more

Just came back from Albuferia, what a fantastic holiday.. Our stay at the Perola Do Algarve was faultless, rooms were lovely and clean, friendly staff, pool and sunbed area clean, although we didnt get a sunbed that often as were all taken, talk about the Germans grabbing... more

We went here and received what we expected, very friendly staff from top to bottom. The rooms were quite OK, I didn't expect a four star UK or North American style hotel. The place was kept clean by competent staff and the few problems we had were taken care of right away.... more

I have rated this holiday as 6 because we had a great time in many ways but there was no much that was not right . Firstly the Thomson coach transfer was a mini bus driven by a local man. He forgot to put the coach number in the window and so caused delays in finding him,... more

Perola apartments are great. Wonderful hotel, very well situated for anything you need and run by friendly people. Ok, the grouting in the bathroom looked like I had done it, but the room was cleaned every day, towels changed every couple of days, hotel was pristine,... more

First impressions of the Perola were good. The receptionist was pleasant and the reception area was clean. Our room was ok, no cigarette burns and darned counterpanes, although I must agree about the pillows being lumpy. A kettle would have been nice for us non-coffee... more

As retired hoteliers after 25 years of dealing with tourist boards, we know how stringent the checks are made on holiday accommodation in England are. We can come to only one conclusion regarding the Perola. It must have awarded its own star rating as no four star hotel in... more

Was Impressed,
Myself and 9 mates of mine stayed here in June 2006, was during the peek heat of the season. So we were given sound advice by our reps and hotel staff. All in all the stay was perfect, we wernt the greatest guests as we were on a lads holiday. when we arrived on the saturday we were taken to the hotel within 30mins of the airport, upon arrival we were greeted by 3 receptionists and a manager who checked us in quickly and we were offered help with luggae, which we were fine with. The rooms were great, awsome views, air con, spacey... more
Wonderful location
Just returned from these appartments on 14/10/06 had a one week stay which we booked over the net through first choice holidays. The appt are situated in a quiet part but approx 20 min walk to the strip one way and about 15 to the old town the other way, so pretty good location, if you dont like walking then there is a train which you can hop on and off all day for 3 euros, taxis are cheap and you never wait long, the local buses regular. I noted others comments regarding lack of pool space as we have gone out of season the appts were pretty... more
Very disapointing! Smelt of sewage.
We stayed at the Perola for a week during September 2006. The Perola itself was at best very, very disapointing! How it has managed to get the awards it has is beyond me. I got the idea that it was probably great in about 1990 and the owner has done absolutely nothing since then. When we arrived our first room was like something off TV holiday nightmares; as soon as we walked through the front door we were greeted with a strong smell of sewage, the only plug socket in the kitchen was situated directly behind the sink ( within 3 inches of the... more
Great holiday base, Not 4 star
We were a bit worried by the reviews we had read before we went but things were fine once we arrived. We had a 1 bedroom apartment, which was spacious and had air conditioning (This was brilliant!!). Really in need of some updating, loads of cracked tiles and could do with a new bath. Overall the apartment was nice and clean, but I had to ask the maid on the third day to come and wash the floor, make the beds and change the towels! The pool area was a knightmare if you were not down by 8am to put out your towels (even though there... more
disappointing
Prior to staying at The Perola Do Algrave I consulted the trip advisor. I read a varied selection of mixed reviews, some good, some bad. The Perola do Algarve has very friendly staff, who are more than happy to assist where possible. The hotel has an excellent location, situated behind the largest hypermarket in the Algrave. The hotel is situated between the main commercial strip and the quaint Old Town. On the down side, the apartment could have been cleaner, the kitchen was poorly equipped and the bed linen was changed once in... more
Not 4 star accom
Accom was large but sound proofing was poor, we were put in room 415 which was on same level as the bar and right next to a pool table, so until early hours of the morning we had a lot of noise, it took 1 week before we could change rooms, so half the holiday was ruined with lack of sleep not just for me and my husband but for the kids to. The pool area was over crowed, signs were up saying not to leave towels on the sunbeds but no -one took notice so unless your towel was down for 8am you had no chance of geting a sunbed. We were also... more
Not worth a repeat visit!
The hotel itself is ok although as with previous reviews would seriously wonder how it gets 4 stars. Rooms are clean enough but tired and could do with updating - grouting in bathroom coming away, enamel in bath chipped etc etc. The kitchenette is very small - 2 rings only and barely any work surface - also no kettle! All rooms seems to overlook the pool which is nice although despite many notices saying sunbeds not to be reserved they had all gone by 9am with about 2 people visible!! Surrounding pool area tatty and very small, not... more
definitely not a 4star
Having read the reviews we went with an open mind. Unfortunately the hotel is only just 3star standard. The pool area is very cramped and quite scruffy. In peak season you do need to get up very early to reserve a sunbed otherwise if you prefer to leave it there are no sunbeds or even spaces for a sunbed around the pool. Other than the excellent location of the hotel I would not recommend this hotel. Try the Brisa Sol or Montecherro which are in a different league. On a positive note happy hour is between 6pm- 8pm and the bar... more
OK but not 4 star!
We stayed in the Perola do Algarve last week. We were very worried after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. Our initial impression was that the hotel doesn't deserve a 4 star rating. After getting it into our heads that it is a decent 3 star we began to relax. The location of the hotel is not pleasant behind the supermarket car park and bin area! The rooms were pleasant and clean and everything worked. The staff were not unpleasant but not very friendly. We enjoyed the entertainment guy he was friendly and fun. The pool was... more
Great Holiday
Just recently returned from a two week holiday at the Perola, which we had a great time. This was our second time at the resort, and I would definately stay here again. We booked the holiday a week before going as the other reviews written about this accommodation were good. We booked through otbeach(--) and saved about £800 to what First Choice were charging and also got a free child place which is good considering it was the summer term holidays. First impressions of the apartments are the staff were very friendly, rooms clean... more
