When we arrived at the airport we were told we weren't staying in the hotel we booked because of renovationworks. So we ended up in Ondamar hotel. We had a big appartment with a view over the nice garden and swimming pool. So we have no complaints about the accomodation. I don't think the restaurant deserved 4 stars. The choice and variation, for breakfast and dinner, were very limited. I would also recommand to hire a safe, because while we stayed in this hotel there was a break in in another room. Had booked into Brisa Sol 10 months in advance but advised two days before our holiday they were over booked and they arranged this accommodation saying it was of same standard. This has happened to others who have booked the Brisa Sol and begs the question Is the Ondamar an overflow hotel? Good Points; Good location. Rooms adequate and kept clean with fresh towels daily. well we were booked in to the brisa sol on arriving we were told there had been a mix up with the booking a computer was down at the time,we booked in november 06,asked round and other people were told the same, booking at totally diferent times,so i suspect some poetic licence is being used,would like to know why? any way back to the ondamar on arrival at hotel booked in effieciently found apartment and was surprised spacious and very well appointed full sized cooker dishwasher fridge and micro wave also very clean and kept that way... more

A group of 10 of us arrived on 29 June 07 to stay at the Brisa Sol Hotel only to be informed that there had been a computer glitch 2 weeks earlier and unfortunately they have overbooked the hotel. We were then told that they had instead booked us into the Ondamar Hotel just down the road - same quality, just different location. (We later found out that we were 1 of 3 large parties that received the same story. We had all booked in January 07.) We originally booked into the Brisa Sol but on arrival were told they were overbooked and we were being moved to the Ondemar. We were assured we would be getting like for like. The Ondemar apartments were lovely and we do not have any complaints about the cleanliness of the hotel itself or the apartments. Rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels provided daily. i made this booking direct with the hotel, i found the staff pleasant and willing to put themselves out for me. my room was excellent...light and airey with excellent air conditioning. bathroom, although a little old fashioned, was clean, and apart from one 10 minute period,the water was hot and plentiful. the facilities are excellent, large pool, all the outdoor furniture was brand new(all arrived on my second day there) and the whole area was cleaned and retset every evening. overall i was very impressed not only with this... more
Phone charges a rip-off at the Ondamar. Don't stay there!!

Stayed at this hotel from Feb. 23-Mar. 13, 2006. This hotel was terrible! Don't be swayed by their fancy website. They don't provide what they say. Phone charges were horrendous. Used our laptop on previously set up local phone line but phone charges were an obscene $750.00 Cdn. for 13 days usage! Ondamar billed us 1600 minutes for 600 minutes usage and charged 0.35EU when it should have been 0.10EU. TOTALLY UNETHICAL. No phone rate card in the room when we asked and the staff conveniently forgot English when we questionned them on... more

I can recommend the Ondamar wholeheartedly. Excellent aparthotel, very centrally located. Easy walk to old town of Albufeira, as well as the Strip. Close to both Oura Beach as well as Fisherman's Beach.
Don't stay at the Ondamar

We stayed at the Ondamar for 3 weeks in January. Here is a summary. No heat for 10 days. Our hot water was only hot on 2 occasions and was brown on 2 occasions. The hotel shuttle bus did not come to pick us up from the centre of town until 2 phone calls were made, and was an hour late. The jacuzzi was ice cold 2 times I tried to use it, then was empty for the last 5 days of our stay. Not what I would call good service!
