We couldnt have had a better room! The Hotel was very clean and staff were very cheerful and helpful. The short steep hill is a pain in the heat with your suitcases, so go through garage, turn right once through the garage doors to the lifts and press level 4 for reception.... more

Hotel lovley and clean would go back again good value for money. I loved the style of the hotel. The staff are very nice. The hotel may be on a bit of a hill but its not that bad and you do not get any noise. The walk to the frount is only about 2 mins and then you are in the centre. We loved it.

My stay at the Vistamar Aparthotel was fab! I have seen many people complain about the steep hill going up to the Vistamar. The hill wasn't bad at all. Of course i have to admit that pulling the suitcases up was a little bit of a struggle but nothing to complain about!... more

excellent food - table d'hote
Travelled on my own over Christmas Room consisted of one bedroom - twin beds plus lots of hanging space and drawers. lounge area with comfy sofa, coffee table, unit with TV on top with phone , dining table with 4 chairs, kitchen in same area Cleaned daily Central heating/airconditioning operated by remote control I had expected buffet meals having paid for half board -got table d'hotel 4 course menu with at least 3 choices of each . Food delicious!!! Waiter service excellent Supermarket close by very cheap Recommend Cocos bar just short walk away A good 30 minutes stroll from the centre of Benalmadena-taxis and buses no problem If you go to Gibraltar please remember your passport
best hotel
Just got back the hotel is very clean, well equiped and the value for money cannot be bettered. The locatiopn just on the perifery of the resort was for me perfect located between two bus stops, walk up or down depending on how much exercize you want. the main road to the front is busy but unless you were sat on the good sized balcony you could not hear traffic noise. The hotel reception and bar staff were very friendly and helpful. Small gripe about the area is the seafront restaurants by the beach have people out side who hassle you togo in and some wont take no for an answer. Marina is a fair hike away more so if you have a "moanin" teenager in tow. Take the local bus (orange in colour) up to the village on the hill and visit the "Astupa Tibetana" a very tranquil Buddist temple or go on the green and yellow bus to Aryo or further up to Mijas (try not to go on tour bus day) all for 1euro 20 cent each way.
The hotel was very nice
The hotel is very nice and it is in a great location. The rooms were very clean as well as the rest of the hotel. The Staff is about 50/50 Some were great and gave wonderful selctions while some seems to make you feel like you were bothering them. YOu will have to leave the town to receive a little more spanish culture. But I would recomend the Vistmar for anyone who is going to stay in Benalmadena.
Excellent Value
I stayed at the Vistamar for 10 nights starting on Friday, 10 March, 2006. I had booked the Vistamar online through Easyjet's hotel service - Hotelopia which I believe is owned by First Choice. I secured a rate for single occupancy of a studio room for £15.80 a night for half board - outstanding value. I had read the reviews on here before I travelled so I knew it was going to be good - and I was not dissapointed. The room was really nice - the only downside of mine was a lack of a view from the balcony as I was on a high floor and the room was inset into the sloping roof. However, the room was well equipped with a dining table and chairs - nice kitchen with amicrowave and a fridge as well as two electric rings. The marble bathroom was very well equipped. The satellite TV had the obligatory two English channels that Spanish hotels seem to subscribe to - CNN and Sky News. I did not go down for dinner for the two first evenings as I didn't think it would be up to much. I was wrong - it was a four course waiter served meal and the standard of the food was more than acceptable. The pool was really attractive and there is a pic of it attached to this review. Yes the Hotel is on a steep hill but do as I and others did - use the lift from the car park - there is no need to climb the hill at all if you do this. There is a bus stop into Benlalmadena Marina and Torremolinos on the main road at the bottom of the hill - the cost for both locations is 1 Euro 5 Cents. There is an Aldi/Lidl type supermarket at the bottom of the hill to the right just beyond Burger King - excellent prices for organge juice, water, fizzy drinks and wine ie a bottle of Cava for only 1 Euro, 89 Cents. I am attaching several pics of the room which I hope that readers will find useful. The charge for the safe in the room was 3 Euros a day and a taxi from the airport to the Vistamar was 20 Euro. I hope that this information will be useful to visitors in the future.
Couldn't fault it
A group of us stayed here for the weekend and had a fantastic time. The rooms are lovely and clean and the facilities top notch - everything exceeded our expectations. I'd definately stay here again. The town center and marina are about a 7 Euro taxi ride away or a 30 min walk. There are a few bars/restaurants near by, but you need to get down to the marina if you're looking for more choice. There's nice beach just over the road and the hotel pool is lovely too. Highly recommended!
Excellent value for money
We have just returned from three weeks Half Board at the Vistamar Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The service was first class. The rooms were clean and the food was excellent. In particular we enjoyed the waiter service. The only slight downside was that we found the lounge to be smoky so decided to give it a miss. Would strongly recommend it and would go again.
Xmas Cracker
Just returned from a 4 night trip over Xmas and it was one of the best 4 star hotels we have ever stayed in. The rooms were spacious, spotless and clean and great views from the balcony of the sea. The pool looked gorgeous, but not quite warm enough to dive in December. The food in restaurant was fantastic and got four courses for dinner, if you could fit it all in!! One thing, they could do with another toaster for breakfast cos it takes about 10 mins to make toast when you have fought through the queue to the bread!!! Its a fab hotel and we will definately use again in Benalmadena!!
Excellent Service
We stayed for one week at the Vistamar at Benalmadena. Although we have travelled to Spain about 40 times, this was our first visit to the Costa del Sol. The hotel is almost spotless, and the receiption staff is polite, helpful and English speaking. Small problems are being dealt with on the spot. The rooms were cleaned every day, and towels also changed daily. The food was excellent, and I have never experienced more efficient waiters anywhere. You cannot fault this place at all - hold on - except for the available TV-Channels. SKY News and CNN is about all you can get, but they are waiting for some equipment to be installed later........ The "Cardiac Hill" is not a problem; I am 63 years old and found it not a challenge. The dual carriage way though is a problem, with quite a few mad Spanish "Want to be F1-drivers" scaring the living hell out of you. There is a very good Supermarket ("PLUS") about 3 minutes away. They are the kind of "LIDL" and "ALDI" and very well priced. I can only recommend the Vistamar ApartHotel
great aparthotel
we have just returned from a five night stay at the vistamar and as is normal was apprehensive with what we may find...we neednt have worried the vistamar is a top hotel that is very clean and `new`located to the west of benalmadena it is a 40 minute walk to the marina but wthere are plenty of shops/bars/sea front to keep you occupied along the way..the bar is excellent and the happy hour between 5-6 o clock(241)is great although this isnt advertised and is only mentioned in the little black book under your telephone.the hill leading to the reception is steep but most should cope with it(about 50m).if you are lazy like us you can always go via the car park lifts.the only word of warning about this hotel is the waferthin walls/floors where you can hear everything thats happening next door or above, but im sure you could turn on the tv and watch skynews/cnn to dampen the noise down(only english channels)
Pitfalls at Vistamar
Just returned from two weeks at Aparthotel Vistamar in Benalmadena. First class accommodation , very clean and very friendly staff. Advise holiday makers to bring plenty of mosquito repellant, find out about easy access via the garage (the hill is a killer) and avoid staying above the main entrance where you will hear the late night revellers returning and just when you think you may drop off to sleep you are awakened by the early morning departure of the golfers. Apart from that, an enjoyable holiday at a reasonable price.
