My family and I stayed at Oceanus for 5 days. The apartments were big and the cleanest we've stayed in. Staff were very friendly and always willing to help. The pool was never too packed and the area was always clean. It was about a 3 minute walk to one of the beaches, and... more

We visited the Oceanus apartments August-September 2008; travelling with our 15 year old daughter and our 11 year old son... always challenging to find somewhere that ticks all the boxes for everyone! The staff always have a smile for you and our room was cleaned daily -... more

We spent the month of February, along with two other couples, at the Oceanus and had a very enjoyable holiday. We found the one bedroom apartments quite comfortable, although they could use a bit of updating. A microwave oven and coffeemaker would be useful. Maid service... more

We found it a very good hotel. Initially, we had booked for a ground floor room which we were not given on arrival. However, they have a lift which solved the problem of the stairs. The rooms are very good size and cleaned every other day. The balcony is very small... more

A good 3 star apt-hotel
The Ocanus apt-hotel we found it to be very plesant and comfortable , The Staff were very friendly , The rooms were a good size but will need decorating soon. TV was disapointing ie. no music ch. Lost sky news after 2 days . Pool area was good but sunbeds with a cushin cost €1.50 p/d Snacks were good ,and beer €2.25 a pint . A Cantina Resteraunt Next Door isTop Class, Olas de Aqua is a a quite place small bars /small resteraunts, But a nice place I liked it very much, no major traffic around the Village ,but a few very steep hills so take your time. To sum up We had a very good holiday and would go back
only ok
I thought the Oceanus apartments were only ok and found Olhos d'Agua itself to be very disappointing. We requested a pool view but instead ended up sitting on top of the VERY busy road. We ended up having to annoy the staff for three solid days to get changed to the front side which made a big difference. The apartments were in all fairness clean and quite functional. Dont be fooled when it says they have satellite t.v. Sky news and BBC world news were the only english language channels they had and these went on the blink the second week. Most of the staff were very friendly but some were borderline rude. Olhos d'Agua itself was very disappointing. If you think irish local planning officals can be very strict on beach side developments then visit Olhos d'Agua (or the Algarve in general) and see what happens when developers get their own way. Every spare patch of land seems to a high rise on it and there is way too much development around what is essentially a very small village/beach. We went to the beach once and there wasnt room to swing a cat. ended up having to hire a car to get to quieter more suitable ones Unless you live in Dublin you will find the prices every bit as expensive as Ireland and in a lot of places you get the same level of service you would here i.e. [-]. having said that other restuarants were quiet friendly. All in all I was very underwhelmed by the Algarve in general, over developed and over priced
great hotel
lovely clean hotel and the pools very clean, rooms big and plenty of storage for clothes etc.everything you need in the kitchen all spotless. As we went in march it was a bit quiet and the weather mixed, as we had not been to the algarve before we could not of wished for better week mixing with nice people. go down to the top 10 bar stuart is a great guy who will give you plenty of nibbles on the bar, and make you very welcome. take a walk to tiffanys for an indian meal turn left out of the hotel and its about 5 mins walk.if you go the strip watch out for the timeshare guys and dolls. we will be going back thats for sure.
Fab holiday
I cannot reccomend these apartments enough! Staff are extremeley helpful, the rooms are good standards and the pool area is well kept! Olhos D'agua was a bit quiet but was only 3 euro in a taxi to the strip. Quite a few good restaurants in Olhos such as I'Fratellis which we went to on more than one occasion. Style Holidays were fabulous and I definately reccomend them for your next holiday. We will be going again in 2006!!
Wouldn't return again
Spent 2 weeks in Oceanus with my fiance in July of this year. I wouldn't return again. We requested a pool view but didn't get it. Instead our accomodation was on the other side of the building facing a busy main road and a building site. It was very noisy and we found it very hard to sleep. The pool was good and Paula on reception was extremely friendly and very helpful. There is not alot to do in the area and not alot of good quality restaurants. Trying to get a taxi was practically impossible. We wanted a quiet relaxing holiday but it turned out to be stressful. Wouldn't recommend it considering the excellent choice of Alternatvie accomodation in the Algarve.
Great stay
Just returned from a weeks stay in the Oceanus. I would recommend the Oceanus to anyone as rooms are well equiped and cleaned regularly. One thing I would suggest is that they stay in rooms facing the pool, as the other rooms face the main road which can get very noisy. Pools are clean but very cold. The small pool is not suitable for children that cannot swim as it is too deep for paddling for any child under the age of 4. Recieption staff, especially Paula who was great with our son making every effort to converse with him every time she saw him, were freindly enough. Food wise, Fratelli's Italian restuarant is highly recommended.
loved the trip
me and the family went here for two weeks in agust. the staff are grate very helpfull. snack bar does lovely food. it is very clean. every thing is in walking distance the sardine festival is grate fun. the only bad thing is the beach is down a very steep hill. i would go back there any time !!!
kids club missing!
just spent 2 weeks in the oceanus, great place if your looking a quiet break. Very boring for the kids, the tour operators should look into kids clubs. ALSO THE "KIDS POOL" is not really sutiable for small children who can not swim. The staff i wouldnt rate as pleasent, and the entertainment was very poor. Had to leave olhas de agua for any sort of lively entertainment especially for the children {6&3}wholoved the 2!!! trampolines on the strip. Although the apartments are kept spotless, request one facing the pool, are you will think your waking up on the m50. Some lovely resturants in albuferia [if you can get the kids off to sleep]especially the ones on the seafront. The square in albuferia has street enterainers which were excellent. I would reccommend a trip to the zoo marine, if your looking to swim with the dolphins [i did!!!] book it before you go, are go straight to the office on sight and put your name down for a cancellation. I would difently go back to portugal but i would prefer to stay closer to albuferia. Just one last thing the la catina resturant is not child friendly!!
Our Holidays in Style at the Oceanus Aparthotel - 2000 to 2005
My wife and I have stayed at the Aparthotel Oceanus on four occasions. We have thoroughly enjoyed every visit and God willing we will return again in 2006. We find ther apartments comfortable and everything one needs is to hand. Over the years, (we missed 2004 as we vacationed in Australia) we have been accommodated in the One Bedroom apartments, also in a Studio Apartment. This year we were fortunate in having the creme de la creme, Room 306 with two balconies allowing us to seek sun or shade at any time of day. The Staff are extremely helpful and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The swimming pool caters for small children in a small pool and for the adults the main pool is quite large and running from ankle deep to 2.5 metres. Even old wrinkles such as ourselves do not feel out of place. STYLE Holidays, our holiday company are aptly named, from the moment one lands at FARO to the moment when one has to leave, the STYLE representatives are always on hand. Close by the Oceanus there are restaurants to suit every taste, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese, Indian and also British. All the restaurants are in walking distance so even after imbibing a couple of Gins and Tonic or Sangria, Two or three glasses of Table wine and possibly a glass of Port or Brandy, one does not need to find a taxi and certainly one does not require a car. Should you wish for nightlife, Albufeira is quite close but if you like your beach to be a frw minutes walk away and prefer the quiet life, then ask STYLE and stay at the OCEANUS.
Well worth the visit...
Stayed here for a week last year, it was a cool holiday and we really loved the Oceanus. The pool has a REALLY deep end, if you love diving into pool's, this is the place for you! The prices kind of amazed us, coming from Dubin, getting a glass of wine or a pint of their local beer (can't remember the name of it but it wasn't bad at all!) for 1 Euro felt a bit unbelievable! The restrauants were excellent, one in particular sticks out, Blues Bistro just at the bottom of the steep hill down to the beach, the fillet steak was like something you'd dream of, and we had a 4 course meal with two fillet steaks for starters with two bottles of wine for something like 45 Euro! All in all, would definitely go back to the Oceanus BUT, (there's always a "but"!), I would advise anyone going here to steer well clear of the DD phones in the bedroom, we used ours maybe once a night each day (only 7 day holiday and we weren't going mad using the phone), and got a bill for over 150 Euro when we checked out, so beware! But other than that, I couldn't recommend the Oceanus and D'olho's Agua enough for great value, nice roomy apartments, friendly staff, and great food locally. Will probably go back later this year, but will bring my own phone this time! ;-)
