Ramada Maingate West

We arrived at Amerihost July 19,2003. There was a very long wait in the "Welcome Center" to get our room voucher, then we were told that we couldn't check into the room right away, when we returned at the time they said to, we were informed that they had given to someone else. The room we ended up with was very cramped (there were five of us (3 adults and 2 children) in a room with 2 queen beds & a roll-away) and it was hard to adjust the air conditioning, we all ended up sleeping with 2 blankets (which took 3 calls to the desk to get) plus... more

This hotel is a joke. We were suppose to stay here three night and made it one night with the grace of God. It smells horrible in the hallways and in the rooms. The people working were not friendly or helpful. I would never stay here again.

Stayed here for 10 nights in March 2003 with my family. The rooms were clean and pleasent enough although the air conditioning was a little noisy. Staff were friendly and helped when I had questions or problems. A good place to stay if you are wanting a hotel just to sleep in. Not many amenities and indoor pool was crowded at night. However it is close to all the main areas (WDW 10mins by car). Didn't use the restuarant for breakfast as Ponderosa was better value and just across the street. We stayed at this place in August of 2002. It was horrible. There was a hole in the wall exposing pipes in the bathroom, it looked like something out of a horror picture. The bathroom was not clean. This was a complete dump. The only reason we stayed was because of a time share deal that came with our trip.

The bad out weighed the good. The room smelled musty, of mildew. The non-smoking rooms used to be smoking rooms and that was very apparent by the smell of cigarette smoke. The pool and hot tub were in need of a good cleaning. The service was very poor; it was difficult to get a hold of anyone and when we could, it took 2-3 calls to then get what we needed. On the good side; there were lots of things for children, the bathroom was big, they have a good gift shop, and there was a lot of things nearby.

This place was the worst place I have ever slept in....this includes sleeping in my car!The elevator smelled of mold, the so-called pool/recreation area was cheesy and also smelled! The price is good, but place is awful. I really do not recommend this place.I strongly believe that this place is used as a marketing tool to force people to buy a time share and not spend another vacation in this joint.

This is not a resort! The Amerihost is flithly. It reeks of mildew and cigarette smoke. When we arrived there two weeks ago, there were Slippery When Wet signs all over the lobby. There was literally water dripping down from the ceiling tiles and visible mold. There was an odd man with no shirt, shorts, untied workboots and no socks, just wandering around the lobby. This place was terrible. It reeked of mildew.

Outside pool is nice, breakfast buffet was below average. Rooms smell of mold and mildew (it comes from the air conditioning). We had to be moved because we could hear the Karoka. It was horrible. The staff was rude to me as I explainedwe needed to change rooms. Too many high school students running around not attended. It is not a family hotel. It is a party hotel. Excellant price for the package.Only if they could do with out all the timeshare tours that ruin the vacation,and the state of Florida.Prime location to the parks.The resort is much better then what people make it out to be.Had a very large room that was in excellant shape,coudn't ask for anything better.Plus we liked the pool and the breakfast buffet.Would like to return in the future.
