Banana Bay Resort Hotel

The wife and I drove down to Key West following a short stay in Miami (I was on business). Since our schedule only allowed for one night in KW, I had a hard time finding a place to stay since most guest houses required a 2 night minimum. Additionally, I wanted something other than a standard property (e.g. Mariott Courtyard, Holiday Inn, Fairfield Inn etc..) since I so often stay in something like that while on business. The room was great and the bed was very nice. I was upset with the fact that the hot tub did not work and no one informed me. The pool was alittle dirty, but what can you expect. The employees were great and would help in anyway. The hotel was a lot futher than I was hoping to Duvall St. It was like a $9 cap ride without tip(which is not that bad, but I like to be in the heart of the keys). Overall, I think that the place was very nice and I would stay there again, but next time I think I would like to be closer to Duvall.

Just returned from a four night stay at the Banana Bay Resort in Key West (May 23-27, 2005). Went there to relax and this was the place to do it. Our room was very nice: canopied king bed, small kitchen, lots of room--we even kept our bikes in the room and had plenty of space to move around. The balcony had a Gulf view and was shaded by palm trees for most of the day. While the resort is on the water, you cannot swim from the beach, but the pool is great. Large, clean and adults-only. We stayed 4 nights at Banana Bay Key West. The room was clean and a comfortable bed. I really enjoyed the pool area. The trees surrounding the property are really beautiful. The "beach" section was nice and shady but small. The Tiki bar was fun and the drinks were always good. Was a little far from Duvall St. but quiet and relaxing. The breakfast was ok if you eat lite in the mornings. The staff was always pleasant and helpful. Truly enjoyed Banana Bay and would stay there again.

We just spent the weekend here to soak up the sun and do a little fishing. It was our first time at the resort, but have been to visit Key West over a dozen times. The resort is very nice, situated right on the water, has a nice pool and pool deck, as well as a hot tub. The view is nice, although there are power lines out in the water. There are chairs, chaise lounges, and hammocks on the beach to relax on while you enjoy the view. There is a little tiki bar on the pool deck, but it was rarely open. My husband and I just got back from a visit here. The photos on their web site are MUCH nicer than the property in real life. The place is dated and tired, however, it was fairly clean. We stayed in the Bahamas room. The residential area it is in is also quiet (although, the owners neglected to tell us there was construction going on right next to the property) and nice. I would look for another hotel or condo before going back.

When we first arrived at this hotel, my first thoughts were, "Have we made a mistake???" It seemed very old fashioned and you can't see the wood for the trees! but the dense forest of trees surrounding the hotel, actually makes it a quiet and peaceful place to stay. The staff at reception and very friendly and welcoming and have a great sense of humour - VERY Key West!! we went to key west April 16-23 for our wedding and stayed at this resort. some of the reviews had me a bit leary, but I had already booked/paid and it was too late to change. Thankfully. While it is true that Banana Bay sits on a busy street lined with Taco Bells and other businesses, once you travel through the "line" of Banana trees and Palms separating the highway from the property, you forget exactly where you are. The room was fine but the air conditioning noisy The fishing guide was excellent Its a way from Duvall street but close to an excellent shopping mall No screaming kids perfect for peace and quiet

We stayed for three nights and overall we had a good time, the room was clean and spacious, the only thing was location as it is quite a way from Duval Street, but we did enjoy the walk. Small but nice pool. Would not stay here again, as would not visit Key West again.
