They are of for the price but the local area is very unsafe u have to get a taxi if u wont to go anywhere just to be safe. Our view outside our appartment was a gyspy camp

My partner and I have just returned from a 6 day long holiday from the Albufueria and stayed at this hotel. Its cheap and cheerful, room was clean and spacious as was the cooker/microwave and fridge. Beds were made and towels were changed daily People complain a little too... more

Stayed at this hotel for two weeks. Nice place plenty of friendly people. Entertainment fine. All staff very helpful. Rooms clean and tidy. Was a bit noisy at times with youngsters. Would go back again.

Janelas do Mar is located on the top of a desolate hill surrounded by scrubland, a school and (when we were there) a construction site.You need to enjoy walking on rocky pavements, and uphill, to access local supermarket and restaurants ,about 20 minutes away.Taxis at 4... more

cracking stay at janelas,cant find fault with anything, clean friendly & great location just 10min walk into resort but taxis are also cheap. recommend the massage chair in reception for 15mins the best 2euros i've ever spent.while your there a day out to vilamoura marina is well worth it just 3.65euros on the bus.

We booked the holiday late so were grateful to get something for the price we paid. When we arrived our room was not ready yet and so had to wait 2hours for it, at midday this was not a fantastic first impression. We were pleasantly surprised by the room it was clean and spacious and we had great views of the sea. There isn't much around the hotel itself they have their own shop and bar but its a good 10min walk to the nearest supermarket. We stayed here in Sep '03 - got a last minute deal. Apartments were clean and spacious - all that you could expect from tourist apartments. We overlooked the pool and had views of the sea. There was some noise - mainly from above but this is to be expected from High rise blocks. We were kept awake by karoke a couple of nights also. We stayed at this hotel as part of a package, and after reading some of the comments on here, went prepared to have a horrible time. How wrong I was. The hotel itself is very clean,the accomodation is basic but comfortable. We had maid service 5 times a week, daily towel change, and our beds changed every week, and made every day we had service. Be prepared to climb though, as it is at the top of a hill. In fact all of Albufeira is hilly, so you have been warned. This is our second stay at these apartments and we love it a lovely walk to the stip and the staff here are all very friendly and helpful Marcio is the man for the cocktail flair at the pool bar this season and Jorge and Bruno in the bar are great. All the staff here have been with the place for many years and it was nice when they recognised us from our first stay 2 years ago. Have just returned from a weeks holiday at thes apartments, and was very pleasantly surprised after reading some less than positive reviews. The apartments were spacious, clean and bright, furniture was in good condition all equipment was well maintained and in good working order Maid service was provided 6 days out of the 7 with daily towel changes. We stayed in the apartments after booking at the last minute. The apartments are really big and our apartment overlooked the sea and the swimming pool. Plenty of sun loungers, 3 swimming pools, snack bar was reasonably priced and it also had a mini market with everything you need. The staff are really friendly with great English. The location was good, the bus ran into Albuferia but a taxi was only €4. The strip is 10 minutes walk away but very load and tacky. Albuferia is much nicer for restuarants and shopping. My wife and I stayed in these apartments after booking it on the internet two weeks before the departure date. On viewing some of the reviews we were very concerned that we had made a big mistake e.g. "sleepless nights" when one main reason for choosing this place was the "quiteness" it offered within promotional material.
