Stayed at Forte da Oura for 2 weeks at the end of July 2011, with my husband and 3 children. Lovely, clean place in and around the hotel/apartments. It has a nice mixture of families and groups of young people but there was always a nice atmosphere at the pool each day.... more

This is definitely NOT a family hotel. Large young groups who don´t seem to care how much noise they make and when they make it. Seem to dominate the pool area with balls flying allover the place. The security guard runs round after them, which I must admit is the only... more

My boyfriend & I stayed in the Forte Da Oura for a week in July 2010.The hotel was great, really clean as the maids came everyday. The apartment was big and was great apart from the two single beds pushed together to make a double.. Being on the fround floor we could just... more

Although this was a nice hotel - apart frrom charging 4* for a hotel not worth more than a 3* - as previous reviewers have said you will need to get up early for a sunbed at the pool side - on the first night we were made to stayt in a room with broken air conditioner,... more

The hotel, staff and location are all spoilt by the allowance of groups to stay in what could be a wonderful family hotel. The hotel is nice an clean and located 5 mins from the main strip and 10 min walk from the quieter beach or 15 mins from lively beach. We enjoyed our... more

Not worth a 4*, maybe 3*. Very clean, spacious but basic rooms. Pool area bit small, had to be down early to get lounger. Had food at lunch, not great at all, so ate out at pub down road most of time. Reception staff not that friendly, air con not worked first night,on 3rd... more

wouldn,t say this place deserves a 4 * rating more 3*, the pool was rowdy and from the previous reviews we chose this hotel on the couple / family atmosphere, it was more 18-30 maybe due to putting bums on seats during the recession, our air con was not working for two... more

We spent 10 nights here with our 2 children, hotel and staff lovely, Tony D and the parrot show worth a watch. Plenty of beds free around the pool and the beach only down the road, whilst the strip only a 5 minute walk up the road. Sunset on the strip a great restaurant to try.
Would we come back to this hotel, ofcourse x

big disappointment!
Just got back yesterday after a week at this hotel. checked in at 10pm at night and was put into a room on the ground floor. Walked in to room to find we had a huge bathroom with a sloping sink and mirror tilting to the floor. Pulled back the shower curtain and the shower was 4ft from the floor. It didnt take a genius to work out we were in a disabled room. We went back to reception and were told by the receptionist that the hotel was full and we couldnt be moved. We were advised to speak to our rep. Saw our rep Simon the following day who... more
Forte da Oura is nice - but not quite 4*
Stayed for a week at the Forte da Oura with my wife in Sept.2007. The place is nice enough, but not quite a 4 star. The room was very nice, clean and spacious. We did a late booking, but asked for and got a sea-view, which was great. The rooms at the back of the hotel appeared to overlook some building work and were out of the sun for most of the day. Didn't use the restaurant in the evening, but the poolside bar did nice snacks at lunchtime. There's plenty of bars, restaurants and shops within a few minutes walk. The... more
Fantastic Place
Just returned from Forte Da Oura, spending a fortnight there with my wife & 3 children (10, 17 & 18 year olds). All the previous reviews were right, it is a great place. We only caught the end of the entertainment evenings as we ate out every night, but they were no worse than previous places we've stayed. The two barmen "Chris & Poulo" were very helpfull (Chris was leaving a couple of days after us). A word of warning about drink prices, they do rise at all bars in the evenings (6-7 Euros each for a Malibu & Lemonade & a JD & coke).... more
Building site and no room by pool
As with other review, the rooms at the back are awful. Twenty metres from an active building site. Like many others, couldn't get a sunbed as poolside too small and packed together like sardines. Had to use pool at another hotel. Definitely will not go again.
Great Hotel
My wife and I stayed here for a week in July 2007 but first consulted Tripadvisor. I could not complain about this hotel at all, the rooms were spacious, with aircon, and all the utensils you could ask for. Beds and towels changed every day. We had a room at the back which does'nt get the sun during the day ( it kept our room cool ). there was building work going on outside, but what little noise there was, was unobtrusive. The hotel restaurant prices were very good also. more
Fabulous time at Forte da Oura
Just back from holiday in Albuferia, 23 August 2007, staying in Forte Da oura. The apartment was lovely and spacious with air conditioning and luckily we had a garden view. The apartment was spotless and the towels changed regularly. As mentioned in other reviews the pool area is not the greatest, there are definitely not enough sun loungers to cater for all the guests, however the beach is only 5 - 10 minutes walk away and you can hire 2 sun beds and a parasol for 13 euros a day. For all those ladies dont attempt to wear high heels when... more
Great place to stay
We have just returned back from a fortnights stay at the Forte Da Oura Hotel in Albuveira Aug 12 2007, the hotel is very clean (maid service everyday), reception service is great, my children loved the turtles that are in the hotel lobby!! entertainment is on Sun - Wed which was good, bit noisy but dies down around1a.m.ish. Christian and Paulo at the hotel bar are very friendly. If you like to spend your days sunbathing around the hotel pool you really have to get up at the crack of dawn to get a sunlounger as guests put their towels down... more
Best holiday ever!
Have just returned from the Forte da Oura on 2 August. I could have stayed another fortnight. You know what its like when you drive up to your accommodation - sometimes a feeling of "oh no what have we done" - was so not like this at the Forte da Oura. Gorgeous from the outside and was the same inside. We had booked a studio apartment for myself, my husband and two girls aged 11 and 9. I have never seen a studio so large! Had a living area with kitchen and sofa bed, as well as a separate bedroom, lovely bathroom and great sized... more
pure amazing best holiday ever
Forte da oura is the best hotel i have ever stayed it in my life. The hotel it's self is really clean and very comfortable. i would recommend the hotel to anyone especially for family's. Forte da oura is about 15 mins away from all the bizz??? (the strip). The food is superb and so is the people. If you have the chance to go just go because it is out of the world !!! more
Clean and friendly hotel
Our party comprised 2 adults and 2 teenage sons (18 and 15 years). One week stay self catering. Holiday good points: Clean - rooms cleaned daily, towels changed when required Friendly - staff were helpful and polite Rooms were a good size and satisfactorily equipped - kitchen, TV with BBC and ITV, bath and shower. Quiet hotel - rooms were well sound proofed Lively resort - plenty to occupy two teenagers Location - easy walk to the Albufeira "strip". Easy reach of restaurants and bars off the strip.<br... more
