I stayed in Hotel do cerro for 7 nights with 6 of my family a friends last week. Weather... 10 out of 10, and am missing it already, but as for the hotel, awful. The staff did not smile once during the whole week, they are all rude and miserable, they act like they are all... more

Have visited this family run hotel several times and each time it simply is better. Quaint hotel with individual rooms. Hotel re-invests continually to improve facilities and looks after guests with genuine interest. Food may not be to every one's tastes but the hotel... more

Hotel was not 4 star standard, the staff were unfriendly and not helpful.
The food was low budget and of low variety. Hotel situated on top of an hill therefore lots of walking to the town.
There were not enough sunbeds by the pool. We would not stay there again.

The Estalagem is a lovely friendly hotel. Staff on arrival were polite and helpful. Food was a mix of service and buffet but pretty varied and of a good standard. Breakfast was buffet, bit of everything - really good! The pool area is lovely, the hotel is advised as good... more

A nice hotel with stunning sea views, lively entertainment, and very hospitable staff. The rooms are well furnished and of a good size with very classy bathrooms. The food is ok, but I would advise self catering as the food in the town is cheap and of a high quality if... more

Okay hotel, good location
Location of hotel is great, only ten minute walk to the old town. Probably not suitable if you have difficulty walking, as uphill to the hotel. Our room (213) was smaller than we would have liked, seemed a bit like it had been an extra room which just happened to be turned into a bedroom! The bathroom did not have an opening window and the room had probably the smallest balcony I've ever seen. Saying that, it did serve it's purpose as we didn't spend lots of time in it anyway. It was kept clean and you get fresh towels every third... more
VFM Hotel
Sept 07 1st to 14th. – 2 couples This was the second year in succession we had stayed at the hotel so we knew where everything was from the off. Yes it’s up a hill from the centre of the old town so if you can’t walk don’t go. We were staying on B&B and enjoyed the wide choice of breakfast food on offer, it is the same every morning but if you can’t find something to suit then you are a very fussy eater. We did hear people winging about the evening meal but I can’t comment as we always eat out Maids are in you... more
Beware of Room 97
Stayed here for two weeks, returning on Thursday 6/9/07. Having read previoius mixed reviews my husband and I went with an open mind. The hotel was quirky, decor a little tired and in need of a renovation. However our room 97 was acceptable, it was large with two beds, plenty of wardrobe drawer space and two arm chairs, with terrace which had a view to nothing. Infact, how the hotel was laid out I think our room was in the basement. We had to climb up our wall onto the lawn to look at what would have been our view (if we were higher up)... more
Not so sure!
Upon arriving at the hotel i was a little dissapointed by the location. to access the town center and beach you have to walk down a very steep hill, and the walk back is less than enjoyable especially in the mid day heat. I was reasonably pleased with the interior look of the hotel. The decor was nice and it was still quite traditional even though it had recently been refurbished (looks a little different to the candid traveller photos) Our room was lovely, however, we were made to wait for over an hour after checking in to get access to our... more
nice hotel but
Looking at other reviews we thought that the hotel was going to be excellent. The best thing about the hotel was the pool area, the cafe bar and the staff that served their. The towels were changed three times a week. Ok i now they are into the environment but we have stayed in Portugal before and have never come across this. Our room was not cleaned on the first day and after that not cleaned until after 4.30 most days. The food most have taken a nose dive as we and other guests ate out most nights. Albuferia was a lovely place to... more
Fab Hotel,Fab location
Did nt know quite what to expect as im not used to going to a small hotel, everything was just as good, the traditional hotel is situated in a quiet spot on a very quiet street, but my sister and i did feel very safe walking back in the dark, the walk down to the square is not to bad it took us no more than 10 mins, the walk down and back to the beach was also about 10 mins however you need to be fit!! as the hotel is in an elevated posiion,Sis and i did nt put on any weight!!The hotel was lovely and clean and so to was our room. The restaurant... more
hated every day here
this hotel is terrible.food only fit for the bin we asked first choice to move us for 4 days but no luck, wanted 500 euros so i will never travel with them again.we ate out most of our 14 nights. no room at the pool got put off sunbeds because they were on the grass... so get rid of the grass..... ruined holiday...................... we go 3 times a year have never writen a review but had to this hotel the pits more
honeymoon destination
We stayed at "Do Cerro" for a week for our honeymoon, and we loved it, the meals were great especially the buffet evening meal which had lots of choice and all you could eat, also the breatfast buffet had a lot of choice from the lovely fresh rolls and cold meats and cheeses to the bacon, eggs and alot more, The room was very comfortable with a huge bed and air con! lovely marble bathroom, both cleaned daily. our room overlooked the pool area which was handy for selecting your sunbed in the early morning! could be quite busy later on, also... more
super holiday
Went on this holiday with mixed feelings after reading some of the other reviews but we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was very spacious and a suite just as we had booked as we took our 11 year old with us and she had her own room. The rooms were cleaned every day and all staff courteous and polite especially barmen and waiting staff. The food was excellent with plenty of choice, drinks were very reasonable. The pool area was well maintained and poolside cafe served reasonably priced and good food. We received two bottles of... more
Ooohhh....how lovely
Had a fantastic stay here. Swimming Pool was lovely, rooms were thoroughly cleaned every day, towels changed nearly every day, food was always lovely with a good choice. sometimes choice from a menu and sometimes buffet. hotel is high up so a good steep climb from old town and beach but there are roads that can be used to make the walk slightly easier. this is the quirkiest hotel i have ever been too but oh so lovely too. hotel bar and coffee shop were not expensive either. there are a few building works going on down in the old town... more
