I almost had my holiday spoilt at this venue by the numerous complaints!
What was wrong with it? Not too much.
It is cheap, which is why it is chosen by so many.
I worried having seen some of the comments posted, we arrived prior to the complexs booking in time of 1400, the receptionist spoke good English and did everything he could to get us into our room as soon as poss, earlier than we should. The room was clean but very basic, but that goes back to you get what you pay for. We asked for a kettle and were provided with one, some other items have to be hired, but hey, you're on holiday.
Maid service everyday kept the rooms tidy and towels changed etc.
This is an extremely quiet location, there were only 2 food type shops within the immediate area, though both were adequate.
Several restaurants are shown on the freemaps available from reception or the shops, these were lovely.
Don't go to the area if you expect to disco the night away and to walk home because the nearest is 10k away, fantastic, NO nightime noise, another very big plus. We weren't disturbed once!
The beach is probabaly 15mins away, though it is an easy walk, and what a gorgeous beach it is.
Sadly the thing that did spoil some of our time was the habit of bagging sunbeds in the morning and finally arriving after lunch, as there were no Germans about it was definately the Brits that did this, sadly a selfish habit that is everywhere.
Some of the comments left by others in my mind are unwarranted, this is a very cheap location, which is why we all choose it, it provides a good service for whatis paid. Opposite is a very new and very expensive golf resort, if you want more, pay their prices and please stop moaning.
My family had a lovely break, no noise but plenty of sun, sea and sand

Dont be tempted by the cheap price. unfortunately we were. never again! we are quite open minded and cant really afford luxurious holidays so have had a lot of bargain breaks but always been happy with our choices until now. When we arrived after a 1 1/2 hour transfer at gone midnight with 2 small children we were so disappointed to enter the reception which doubles up as the evening entertainment area. we were taken to our apartment by a very grumpy looking man who looked more like a maintenance man. room was really dire, dull, shabby with rusty curtain poles, patio and wardrobe doors didnt slide properly and had to be pushed with your foot. the sheets and pillowcases were thin and grey, so were the towels. we opened our food and found it all climbing with ants. there was no toaster or grilling facilities so microwave meals or cook on a crappy portable 2 ring hob. also there were cats trying to get in peoples rooms. we spent hundreds booking excursions to get out and booked an excursion to zoomarine. we arrived 10 mins early and waited half an hour but no transport turned up. when we asked at reception they were really uncaring and said the coach had come early and gone without us even though we were early! to top off a rubbish holiday we had a very large family of irish travellers move in below us who didnt care how loud they were and what time of night it was and ended up about 30 of them all around the complex. they took over the pool and sunbeds. all in all it was our worst ever holiday and we couldnt wait to leave, even the kids said it wasnt very nice there which made me really sad.

Not My Cup Of Tea

I was disappointed to find that Bayside was approx 10/15 mins drive from Albufeira. On arrival we found that our room with balcony turned out to be one with a terrace. It wasn't clean inside and the kitchen area was shabby, but we weren't eating in so we avoided that problem. The main problem was the guests, who gave the hotel the impression of being a benefits office - I have never seen so many tattoos and track suit bottoms in all my life! We had people who were at the bar from 9am to midnight - totally disgusting. There was free transport to the old port but the last one back was 3.40pm so not a lot of use. The staff were friendly and helpful considering what they had to put up with from the guests. I felt ashamed to be British based on the state of the people staying there.
Portugal is a delightful and friendly place, great value for money - I would certainly go again but would advise any interested persons to avoid this place.

I have just spent a very pleasant long weekend (sat- tues) at Bayside Salgados. The holiday is what you make it, if you sit in the apartment all the time, you will surly notice a few small faults (open door and terrace window, slight damp smell soon goes), but if you avail of the amenities, you will surly enjoy!. The pool is fine and was being used, not cold. The free bus to town was on time and safely driven. The bar and restaurant are not cheap, they charge standard normal prices, we felt to use them was the least we could do, as the rooms are so reasonable they have to make a profit somehow!. After reading the reviews i was a little apprehensive to go, but we enjoyed ourselves so much one of my party is returning this week, and i have re-booked an apartment the week after for a longer stay.

Cheap but not cheerful

Having just returned from Bayside, I felt compelled to write even though I have never done this before. I know it is early in the season and the place is relatively cheap but we were sadly disappointed.
Our self catering apartment was on the first floor and as another reviewer has said, the stairs are lethal. My partner who is slightly disabled fell on the stairs twice. The stairwell is dank and musty smelling. In fact the whole place was damp, bed included. The beds were quite comfortable but the sheets were thin and old. I had one pillow which appeared to be stuffed with rags and one cushion covered in a pillow case.
There are no drawers, just a built in wardrobe with a wonky shelf. This backed on to the bathroom and was very damp.
The shower worked after we wedged it with a peg and the water was hot. There was no ventilation in the bathroom apart from an inadequate air brick which wasn't actually on an outside wall, curious. Bathing or showering filled the room with steam which only added to the damp.
The air conditioning which was supposed to warm the room when adjusted, only blew cold air and it is a bit chilly in a damp room on a Spring evening even in the Algarve.
The self catering equipment was minimalist. A microwave which was above head height, very dodgy when lifting down hot food and two electric rings. No kettle and no toaster, although you could hire the latter for an additional cost. They did however provide a hair dryer, didn't use it so don't know if it worked.
The tv was minute and only tuned in to about five channels, three of which were Portuguese. Good job I am not a big tv fan. We did have a safe which was minus it's lock. The toilet either didn't flush or ran continuously until you stopped it manually.
There was no sound proofing.
The cleaners came every day and made the bed. Sometimes swept the floor but ignored everything else. They did always knock and wait and they were very pleasant. They changed the towels a couple of times but they did not look overly clean.
As for the site facilities, the bar is minute and dominated by a pool table and an enormous tv. We did not venture in, the faces of the few occupants were enough to put us off.
The reception staff were mixed. One man being particularly unhelpful.
The swimming pool was uninviting.
The people in the mini market round the corner were very nice and there prices were not too bad. The supermarket is a bit of a hike and does not have a great selection.
The beach is pleasant but again a fair walk. There is a nice bar there where you can watch the world go by.
There is a free minibus to Albufeira. But if there are a few people wanting to go you might have to hang around for forty minutes. It also comes back at 3.30pm which is a little early.
Overall I was very disappointed with this site. It was old, shabby and depressing. Many people we spoke to felt the same. I hope this review will save some of you from being as disappointed as I was

have just returned fro bayside salgados after a week of winter sun...the weather was excellent and wore shorts and t shirt for the most part, but chilly in the evenings.apartment was great...clean with basic equipment...didnt eat in much but edquate for meals and snacks. lovely hot and plentiful water...cleaned avery day bar sunday. the pool was covered but open for most of the day :) freezing though!!!!! wonderful on the hottest day :) the restaurant and bar were wondreful..food available all day and their breakfast was fantastic. the fish and lamb dishes and even the wine selection were very good and somewot unexpected. in fact i was impressed with the varied menu. garlic shrimps to die for. all staff were english speaking and very helpful and cheery - no complaints from me!!! and i left money out in my room throughout the entire holiday with none going missing. shop 2 mins away and further supemarket 5 mins away. lots of bars, restaurants and cafes within walking distance :) the beach is 10 mins away and awesome. no glitz and glam but excellent value for money and very enjoyable holiday...definately going back there next year to explore further..portugal is beautiful. oh! try the oranges :)

After booking our 2 week holiday, i was really worried after reading reviews. However, we had a great time. The staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly Ice Cream Lady (the lady who ran the pool bar). I don't think she had a day off all the time we were there, and she was still very friendly. The apartments were fine, and we had a huge Balcony. The only downside to these apartments is the distance to Albufeira.Although there were a number of restaurants and bars within 10 minutes walk which were good in particular prima Pasta!
We did go into Albufeira lots, but DO NOT use local cabs, they are really expensive. We found out about Donald and Nicola who run a minbus service called magic Days. They were fabulous, and so cheap. we saved bundles! We had a great Holiday, and what we paid for it, it was a bargain!Debbie travelling with hubby and 2 kids

just come back from a relaxing week at bayside, not a bad place..does need refurb in some rooms, pool needs attention, but value for money.food was great and quite cheap.lovely beach 15 minutes away-made it all worth while, not much for kids to do,which made us spend alot of quality time together as they r teenagers. the only problem i had was with the staff , they would just enter our room without knocking (very rude)even the gardener-now what would he be wanting from our room???? all in all cheap and cheerfull!

never ever stay here can only say worse place ive have ever stay,we was greeted with a smell of damp and a cockroach.what was suppose to a self catering apartment is a joke you have to hire a kettle, toaster, safe which we wasnt told of by holiday company when we book ,the sheets on the bed can only decribe as a rag then you still wouldnt want to use,we had no tap in kitchen so couldnt even make a drink, when you go to speak to staff they have great pleasure in sneering and giggled ad as for manager he always unavailable.was so bad we got the next flight home after 24 hours.please avoid at all costs.

last year my husband and i couldnt really afford to go on holdiay such were the prices for the places we normally went, one day i saw the BSG&BR in T. Cook and the price was brilliant. Not caring too much about the accommodation just wanting to get away to the sun we booked for the begining of October.
we hired a car as i have mobility problems and found the resort eventually and not only did we have a wonderful holiday but we have booked again for this year.
the accommodation was basic, twin beds + sofa type bed, cooking rings, fridge, tv, microwave and table and chairs. the pool area was lovely although the pool was freezing. the bar and restaurant was spotless as were the grouds. the entertainment most nights was good, quizzes, kareoke that sort of thing.
the bar isnt that big which meant that people shared tables and was a great way to meet the other holdiay makers. what made the holdiay for us was the beaches. they were exquisite and were walking distance from the apartments.
if you want a lazy quiet time then this is perfect. the main areas are quite small and the staff we found to be lovely. if you want a livelier time you can go into Albueria town on the bus and get a cab home later at night. for the price i would give it 10 out of 10 overall 8 because of the pool (needs to be heated) cant wait for September to go back this time my son and his girlfriend are coming with us.
