Submitted By: kesmithGoing back again in Nov this year .
Went in to main town last year and it was too busy for me. This place is ideal for a quiet family holiday. Cant wait to return
Only 10 euro in a txi to town if you want to go and free shuttle daily to beach..
My only small complaint is the pool area was not big enough at the time but now they have added another pool.. SO dont think I will find fault this time. (well I hope not).

Submitted By: Mrs S DavisonWhen to Go: Don’t go in August if you are after a quiet holiday as it is really very noisy at night, especially if you have a pool view. Bar entertainment usual for this type of holiday and it goes on late. We had a golf course view and it was a lot better than those poor people who were trying to get their kids to bed at night. Lots of kids are left by their parents hanging around the hotel, aged from as young as 5 upwards to teenagers.
They then run around the hotel through the fire escape doors and down the stairs, then do the whole thing over and over again. Complained to hotel about this and the noise they were making. We have been advised that August is very noisy and busy.
Rooms: Very large and very clean. They are cleaned every day, towels changed every other day and beds once/twice a week. We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment with a sofa bed and a camp bed in the living room for kids. Kids thought the beds were very comfy.
Pool & Pool Bar Area: Pool is very small for such a large hotel. Lots of kids had ear infections so we kept our kids out after they got them also. They are building a new pool at the other side of the hotel supposed to be bigger.
Pool bar service is OK, very slow sometimes in getting you menu and drinks. We arrived down one morning for breakfast and the chef had not turned up.
Other places to eat in the town - Tetiro do Isca - taxi is needed to get to here but not very far away. Need to book also. Expensive but food is good for all the family.
Adega Ticosta - in the town (5min walk from hotel) they do pizza etc very good and reasonable priced.
On the other side from Adega there is a better italian - can’t remember the name but is excellent and the price is very good.
Other excellent restaurants in Vilamoura and Albuferia. The restaurants at the marina in Vilamoura are very expensive but the food is good. In the month of August the restaurants here are very busy and you are given a ticket with a number to come back at a certain time. Not good if you have young children and they can’t wait too long for their dinner.
Overall a good holiday and would go back again but not in the month of August.

Submitted By: Mr L DyasThe hotel is very clean and comfortable and as I was celebrating my birthday over there was given a lovely surprise by the staff of having a bottle of bubbly sent to our apartment on the day.
Very high standard of apartments compared to other 4 star apartments I have stayed in around Spain!
Entertainment was fantastic (although a little late in the evening) but accommodated our young children superbly, bar staff in the pool bar were at tentative and our drinks were always quickly replenished.
The outside village of Acoteias is low key; however the Elvis impersonator in the Olympus bar livens up Thursday evenings along with the Karaoke at Hollywood bar.
Apart from that the restaurants around the village were all clean, comfortable and very good value for money compared to the prices in resorts such as Vilamoura and Albufeira.
We have come back and have re-booked again for next year (on my birthday again!)

Submitted By: Ms C HazleyIf you’re after a quiet holiday then please stress you do not want a pool view room as these are all above the bar and this is the loudest bar I’ve ever been on top of.
Also if your looking for a central holiday base this may not be the place for you, you will need to get a taxi everywhere, into Albufeira will cost you about 8-10 euro, vilamoura will cost you about 15 euro, its not cheap if you like to go out every evening, there are a few restaurants within walking distance but they all seemed quite dead so personally I didn’t try any.
Very small pool area so you need to be getting your sun bed really early.
Food and drink cheap at the bar and staff were lovely.

Submitted By: Miss D Archer-jonesThere was only one smallish pool and it was outside and not heated - no good to us! Also the furniture around the pool was quite grubby. We ate in the hotel four times taking advantage of the buy three get one free buffets.
The main courses were fine but the desserts did not include ice cream and were a little lacking in imagination. There were a number of cafe/restaurants in the village close to the hotel. Entertainment at the hotel was good although it did tend to start quite late in the night.
The area was not very exciting and a hire car is really required to make the most of ones time there.

Submitted By: Mrs Y NealeBiggest plus was the entertainment and the various meal nights - Italian fab food, Portuguese night with traditional dancers, fabulous Brazilian night with Samba dancing, great comedy act with Ricky Francis and yes, we all loved Pedro! The singer Lisa was fabulous and the kids entertainer Kim also a godsend for the little one!
Waiters in both bars - but particularly, the restaurant were courteous (goodlooking!) and most helpful. The uniforms are impeccable and the dining arrangements well organised. We had the same table for 6 in our corner each evening we dined and that was a nice touch. We had some fab nights out and my girls and I are keen to return as possible. We are planning my daughters’ birthday celebration there in October. Look out for Steve and Kav - best Seasons reps. Avoid any hassling to attend timeshare meetings. They didn’t hassle and were good fun.
Eating out was inexpensive for a family of 6 especially in the wine and beer department. Hollywood bar in the square is fun but we were sold early on by Olympica bar and restaurant and ate there often, enjoying some laughs - cringingly awful surreal Portuguese Elvis show but at same time has to be seen to be believed! Excellent food especially the fish – sea bass, and meat kebabs. Attentive service and a warm welcome.
Courtesy bus to beach is a real plus as its quite a trek back uphill. Some lovely restaurants and shops 500m from Falesia beach. Beach itself unspoilt and free from commercial miscellanea although only one beach top cafe limits choice.
Wish we had known about hotel bus to Vilamoura as spent nearly 2 hours waiting for a bus in Olha and ruined day then driver dropped us in Quarteira so we never even saw Marina as anticipated and were then charged on top of our return tickets to get back. TIP brush up on your Portuguese helps in problematic situations!
Avoid Tanias restaurant off main square as we were sorely overcharged and unsuspectingly charged an extra 10 euros for bread olives we didn’t even order! She was also very rude to the children when they selected ice creams slamming shut the fridge and insisting on one choice - the expensive ones on her board only! Shame
as serenaded by jazz musicians passing by the restaurants which my 6 year old boogied to and loved!
Have to return as had such great time never got to Albufeira itself! Also wanted to try Langoustina restaurant - good reviews - but kids loved Olympia too much. Packed a lot in including waterpark at Splash & Slide - a great day out -116 euro for 5 adults one child with bus included! We spent whole day and loved it!

Submitted By: Mrs Veronica WhitelawThe resort has enough stuff to do between eating out and going to the pub. Hollywood bar is great fun and opens until you want to go home. Children are most welcome.
The hotel is great with plenty to do and the evening entertainment is great. Try to see Pedro. That guy is amazing and the magician had me baffled.. Although that doesn’t take much ha ha.
If you want to hit the nightclubs then you are only a 8 euro taxi fare away from the hotspots... Near enough for enjoyment, but far enough away for you not to be annoyed with a team of drunken idiots annoying you if you want a quiet night.
Honesty if you are thinking about going here then think no longer and just go. You wont be disappointed.
I’m just waiting on the months passing so I can go back again. Woo Hoo happy holidays.

Submitted By: Mr K CullumThe drinks are instant coffee, extremely watered down fruit juices and tea. Unless you are a fanatic about great breakfasts, this hotel provides a suitable one. Nothing to rave about, boring but satisfying. The lunch and dinners are quite boring, as is the breakfast but you get what you pay for. Each evening there is a different show that has a lot to be desired. The bar staff can be quite rude and treat the customers like they are doing you a favour making you a drink. Those are the downsides to the place.
The upsides are that this place is beautifully located right on the cliffs overlooking the ocean. The views are exquisite from the hotel. The rooms are OK but we found them relatively clean and well kept. The rooms are fitted a small kitchen area, pots and glasses and dishes, cups etc. and a hot plate and fridge.
My suggestion is to go with the B&B and buy some food at the local store and make your own sandwiches or salads instead of opting for the all inclusive plan and eat out if you want a memorable meal.
There are 2 outdoor swimming pools, and 1 indoor pool, a gym, tennis courts and walking trails. The hotel also has a hair salon, shop, gaming room and snack bar close to the pool. I did see one older woman sunbathing topless but she didn’t rub everyone’s face in it and found a quiet area away from the crowds so as not to offend anyone. The hotel has many, many sets of steps to traverse while going from one place to another within the hotel grounds.
Walk down the beach from the hotel to old town. There are many tourist shops, cafe's and restaurants and the place is loaded with pubs and bars. Be prepared to experience a work out during the walk as it is sand all the way.
The best feature of the area are the people. We found the Portuguese people to be lovely, friendly, cheerful people. Most speak fluent English and encourage you to speak English too.
In summary, the Auramar Hotel Resort gave us what we paid for and more. I would not hesitate to go there again but would like to experience other resorts also in the area, as there are so many. There is a bus that will take you to old town at no cost and pick you up later.
When you land at Faro airport you can expect to pay about 45 Euros for a taxi to take you to the hotel. Once at the hotel you can book a minibus that will drive you to the airport for 30 Euros. The hotel is kid friendly and a great place for the older people (I am 63) but the steps were hard on my knees.

Submitted By: Mr P WestonThe local environment is very quiet yet there is plenty to do. Local restaurants excellent and the little AliSuper supermarket 150 yards up the road couldn't be more helpful.
Would we recommend it. Without any doubt, we're going back later this year for a fourth helping.
Downsides? Beware the timeshare touts who seem to be everywhere and are a complete pain.

Submitted By: KJ RobinsonThe accommodation was first class and the weather was great, mainly warm and sunny. The New Year was brought in with an excellent party in the hotel with food, entertainment and music until the early hours. The local food, in a wide variety of restaurants, was excellent. It was varied and reasonably priced, although seafood was dearer than in the past.
We had a great time and would recommend this type of holiday to anyone who wants a change for celebrating the festive season.

We had a fabulous time and thought this was a fantastic place to stay. It isn't for people who want lively evenings (there was evening entertainment on but it was empty when we were there, that might be different in August but there are no clubs around or anything) but it was perfect for a family who wanted a relaxing break.
Advice: This is in a quiet bit of Albuferia - the beach is lovely
Activities: There is a nice resteraunt next to the supermarket that we went to twice
Good for: Beach
