Sep 2007, Miss Shannon Page

I went on holiday with 17 people hear and really enjoyed this holiday. I was with my older family and took my best friend.
This holiday is packed with lots of things to do including on the resort, the night disco was great and then when that finished we went into town, where we met loads of friendly locals.
Me and my family met lots of new friends and will defiantly love to come back next year.
Also the food was great! Lots Of choice and lovely waiters! The Animation were great and very cheerful!
Over all this must be the best holiday, see you next year!

Sun City is a fabulous hotel for...

Sep 2007, Mrs AM RAMSDEN

Sun City is a fabulous hotel for families and couples. We have just returned from a week’s holiday and can’t wait to go back next year!
We have been to Oul Deniz before and fell in love with the resort so returned and stayed all inclusive at Sun City!
The complex is really nice and the food was fabulous! Had the occasional person moaning that there was nothing they could eat which was absolutely rubbish!! People who moaned about the food choice here obviously need to holiday in Benidorm where Bacon would be on the menu!!!!! Seriously, the food was great, so much choice every night and different dishes. All fresh too!
As we have been to Olu Deniz before we decided to eat out 2 nights at restaurants we liked. Made a nice change to buffet style and eating out is cheap too!
The private beach was nice but isn’t actually just private to Sun City Guests.
The hotel room we had was really nice and spacious and spotlessly clean!
The sun loungers weren’t really an issue, I took advice from people who left comments on this site and got up early each morning to get a some loungers and although there were already peoples towels down before 8.00 when I was going for breakfast you were still able to get beds at 10.00am. And I will add that the hotel was full!!
We have had a brilliant holiday at Sun City and will be returning next year without a doubt!

The grounds to this Hotel are set out...
7 / 10
Sep 2007, Mr T Casey

The grounds to this Hotel are set out very well, in lush greenery with block paving paths allowing access to all areas. It is situated in close proximity to the main beach, which my family and I had to go to every day due to selfish people hogging the sun beds around the pool. But, then again, because of some of the other guests I refused to stay around the pool.
Accommodation- basic, always clean and maids always had a smile on their faces.
(against) only thing, if I was really picky, is that the balcony was quite small.
Pool and poolside- A very decent size pool but, as previously mentioned, selfish people putting towels on them prior to 7am, even though no one sat on some of them for hours. The poolside was quite slippery but cleaned on a daily basis and needed to be due to a number of inconsiderate people leaving their paper plates and rubbish lying about.
Poolside bar- The drinks were limited in choice but sufficient and the bar staff were pleasant. The DJ was ignorant with regards to your feelings about the volume and choice of music and I am aware of a number of people who complained about this but their complaints were disregarded.
I do have an extremely varied taste in music but had to suffer "gangster rap" records booming out of the speakers every occasion that I attended at the bar area. This continued all day and the only reprieve came when he was doing the kids disco.
Food- Excellent choice if you try different dishes. No problems with upset stomachs & the waiters/waitresses were so disciplined & efficient in their approach to their jobs.
Entertainment- This was limited but the animation team did work hard & I give them every credit for their efforts.
The children’s disco, which was held between 9pm & 10pm, is another story though. The DJ, (again) limited the disco to two weeks of agadoo, the birdy song & I am the music man!! No doubt he was frustrated that he couldn't play his "gangster rap" during this period. If anything did spoil the time at the hotel it was the DJ!!
Spent most days on the main beach which was extremely enjoyable.
Only spent a couple of days on the private beach, which was nice. Very green & free sun beds and pedloes. The sea was very still, due to being in the lagoon.
There was a free bus service to the beach at 10.30am & 2.30pm everyday & return trip at 4.30pm.
If you want to try any trips I highly recommend Sky Sports. We have used them for a number of trips on previous visits to Olu Deniz and this visit. Michael, the manager is a great person & very sincere. I strongly recommend the paragliding & we had one of the best days out on the jeep safari.
We will continue to return to Olu Deniz, as we love the place, but I have to say that, unfortunately, we won't return to Club Sun City. Don't get me wrong, it has a lot of potential. It's a pity it still isn't still as it's shown on the video which plays on a loop system on one of the TV channels.
The main reasons for only giving it a score of 7 were the DJ, which sounds petty, and some of the other guests who I witnessed being rude to staff. They showed total disregard to other guests. They were loutish and let their kids roam around like little pack animals. Maybe if we'd have been at another time I could have scored it higher.

Had a fabulous holiday in this resort...

Sep 2007, davies967

Had a fabulous holiday in this resort and took on board everything said in previous reviews.
Transfer - earlier review commented on transfer to hotel - agree totally on outward journey but during the holiday a tunnel had been completed so drive up windy roads with sheer drop no longer problem.
Hotel rooms were clean but with a family of 4 could do with a more frequent towel change than 3 days. Beds made and bins emptied every day though. No lifts so lucky we had ground level room with buggy.
Room looked out directly to adult pool and all rooms had either pool or garden view. Air conditioning noisy but sleeping with a snorer had earplugs anyway!!
Food excellent, even if nothing that you fancy you would still get something. Didn’t appear to be any sort of queuing system if the restaurant was busy, so we would be waiting like lemons in middle of restaurant, then someone would walk in from other side and get a table we hadn't seen.
Wine OK actually - well White was, not to keen on Red. Found the all inclusive option invaluable for kids and many times saw my 5 year old ordering her own food and drinks at snack bar and bar!
Overall - FAB time and best holiday we have had over the last 3 we've been on.

Aug 2007, Mrs J Green

I think this hotel was fantastic, the reviews before me must be too fussy as everyone we met on this holiday thought it was 10 out of 10 all the way!
The entertainment was fabulous, the food was lovely, the staff couldn’t do enough and all other holiday makers were happy and enjoying there time instead of looking for fault.
We arrived on a Monday afternoon and had a lovely (but basic) room. Clean & away from all the main areas. Only thing that I could suggest needs looking at is a new system for getting sun beds, I got to the pool on my 1st day at 8am but by my 3rd day you need to be down by the pool by 6am and even then they are nearly gone.
Only us to blame though because no one needs to rush to the pool that early. My son had one of the best holidays ever; this hotel was very child friendly.
We will go back in a couple of years. A must holiday!!

Just returned home from a 2 week...
7 / 10
Aug 2007, Mrs S Mclaren

Just returned home from a 2 week holiday from Sun City.
Weather very very hot so always in the pool which was very nice, but you must be careful around the pool as it is very slippery and people were slipping over and banging their heads, even when walking around the pool area, also children seemed to be getting earache and having to see the doctor.
Food very good for all inclusive, quite a lot to choose from and staff work very hard.
Rooms, well what can I say they are very small and air con not great and balconies are like postage stamps but they are kept clean.
Entertainers Tutu and Mustafa work very hard and try hard but the entertainment was not great of an evening but we still had a good time.
If you looking for a bargain, locality is excellent for shopping.
Beach is very close by and nice, but need beach shoes as in the sea it is very stony and you can cut your feet. Also you must get mosquito spray as they are out to get you they do a spray called OFF which we found very good, so definitely get it and it is only 5 lira.
Holiday overall was good but we will not go back to Sun City.

Just arrived back from the resort,...
9 / 10
Aug 2007, Mrs E Strandt

Just arrived back from the resort, there were 15 of us and the ages varied between
5-50. We meet some lovely people and so did the kids... we had a fabulous time!
The hotel and surround areas are immaculately clean; I never once saw a rubbish or dirt apart from untidy holiday makers.
The cleaning staff were contently sweeping/cleaning the complex area throughout the day.
The rooms were basic but very clean; don't forget you’re not in England. The maid service was excellent and all the staff were very friendly.
The air condition is centrally controlled so not always on! But if you complaint to reception, the thermostat is altered without any hassle....
The sunbeds were a problem, but isn't taking always the case on most foreign holidays?
There is always the "blue lagoon" beach which has lots of vacant sunbeds and free facilities.
The alcohol was very limited (raki, brandy, vodka, lager, soft drinks) but I think that this is general for turkey, due to the taxes etc.
Be very careful! When walking/running around the pool, as it is very slippery so just remember to wear footwear whenever possible.
The complex therapy shop is excellent, with very friendly staff. Why not take advantage of a various treatments, as we did!
If you book paragliding use “sky sports “as they are very professional and they show documentation to prove you are fully insured...
The markets are a must! There are plenty of bargains to be had but just be careful, as you can be over charged. My advice is "shop around”!!
There is a lovely shopping area/street right outside the complex, which is fab if you like an evening stroll. There are also some lovely places here to eat out, for that special evening...
The food is lovely but like most all inclusive holiday can of course get a bit repetitive. However there is a wide variety of foods on offer, so be adventurous with your selection of food choice!
There were very little mosquito’s/wasp’s, as the village has smoke pest control on a regular basis.
We all had a fabulous time and so will you, if you “just remember, a holiday is what you make it”!

Have just returned from a 2 week...
6 / 10
Aug 2007, Mrs E Winstanley

Have just returned from a 2 week break at the Club Sun City. The hotel is situated in a lovely picturesque spot near the mountains and a quick walk down a shop fronted strip takes you to the beach.

We arrived at 7am after an all night flight and were shown to our room, which was really small for a family of 5, (standard room for 3 with bunk beds squeezed in), 2 wardrobes and only 4 small drawers to fit 5 people’s clothes in for 2 weeks. We had to pile our clothes everywhere in the room.
My teenage son was to sleep on a sofa. After speaking to other families of 4 they had the exact same room as us but of course had paid less money and had a sofa to sit on!! But we thought we're only going to sleep there and get ready, we're on our hols so get on with it.
Beware though if your rooms are near the children’s playground as kids are often unsupervised for hours on end all throughout the day and past midnight so if you want any siestas/peace and quiet in one of these rooms there's not much chance as it gets quite noisy!
The food was great, lots of choice and all freshly cooked in front of you, really nice to have freshly cooked omelette/pancakes/eggs for brekkie, we all had no complaints about the food.
The entertainment team try really hard for an absolute pittance of a wage (300lira/mth!!)And never get any time off. Don’t know how they do it!! But they are great, my children loved the shows, my husband loved water polo/water volleyball activities in the day.
The brochures state there is a 'hotel run kids club', my children didn't want to go as there never seemed to be much going on except sitting around colouring, no activities planned. This could definitely do with improving as it isn't what the brochure is portraying it to be and is not as good as other First Choice hotels we have been to.
We also experienced the same sun bed problems as all the other reviewers, at the beginning of the holiday it wasn't too bad, still available at 8.15 but by the time we left you would be lucky to get a sun bed after 7.00am which is really silly considering you are on holiday and aren't there to get up at the crack of dawn!!
The only way to solve this problem would be to collect the beds up and chain them up until a reasonable time.
The main reason I have rated this hotel so low is, prior to going to the hotel First Choice assured me I would be able to book a late checkout room in resort as my family and I had a 1.30 am pick up, 5.45am flight and I wanted somewhere for my children to have a sleep before we left.
I asked on arrival and was told to return on my day of departure, I also asked the day before departure and again was asked to come back the next day. I went to reception at 8.30am and was told I could have until 5pm for £10.
I asked if I could pay to have the room or move to any other room for just 2 hours longer as it would make a huge difference. The receptionist said no, I explained I only wanted somewhere for my 3 children to sleep as we were flying at 5.45am and they would be up all night, she told me quite rudely that I was not the only guest in this situation this was every week this happened and they were fully booked with no guest rooms or spare rooms.
Two further guests came to reception the 1st was told they could have until 5pm and the 2nd who said they had been in previous years. They had always had a 9pm checkout and they couldn't change it like that, was given until 8pm to checkout right in front of myself and the other guest who only had until 5pm. She had no children and we couldn't understand how they could discriminate like this. Surely these rooms should not be offered to some and not others.
This whole incident ruined our last day as I spent ages at reception, then throughout the day we were clock watching, worried about not being able to all get showered and ready in time. The maids put all their cleaning stuff and stood outside our room at about 4.45 and dead on 5pm the reception rang our rooms and demanded we bring the key.
The way the hotel dealt with several guests on this day and from previous reviews we felt was really badly done. I've also never stayed in a hotel, let alone one that claims to be 4*, that doesn't offer at least a room to get ready in.
The majority of the flights are night flights and I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a 4* hotel to cater for this and their guests. The stupid thing is I would have paid for another night just to let my kids have a sleep for a few hours but the hotel are just not interested.
For this reason alone we won't be returning to this hotel as this holiday cost allot of money and the hotel just doesn't seem to give a stuff. We will return to the area as we've visited Turkey before and love it, but the Club Sun City won't be having our hard earned cash again.

We arrived at 4 in the morning after...
6 / 10
Aug 2007, Miss S Edwards

We arrived at 4 in the morning after a 2 1/2 hour delay, with my mom and 7 year old son. We got to bed about 5am, no sooner had we dozed off when all we could hear there where howling dogs (this went on for a further 2 nights, I complained and was told it was nothing to do with the hotel).
ROOM - Certainly not 4* more like 2*. The bedding didn't match and there were no linings to the curtains and the hems had been taken down on them. Other than the cosmetic details the room was clean and comfortable.
SUNBEDS - When we eventually woke and went to the pool about 1pm there wasn't a sunbed to be had. Having spoken to people who had been there a while it appeared that you were lucky to get one by 8am let alone 9am.
The sad holidaymakers were getting up as early as 6.30am, some were sitting on them, and others would go out for the day. One woman actually put towels on 6 sunbeds at various points around the pool, so that when the sun moved she was guaranteed a bed.
I did complain to the manager and asked he remove her towels of which they did, but nothing else was done and at no stage did I ever see towels being removed before 9am as stated by the hotel. (I was a little sad and did go down between 8 and 8.30 and seemed to get the only 2 remaining beds).
POOL - white tiled area very slippy and dangerous, I saw several people/children slip. How someone wasn't seriously injured I will never know.
FOOD - I thought there was a fairly good selection of food, and I am really picky the fresh pasta was nice and the fruit and salads lovely. Alcoholic drinks very limited.
PRIVATE BEACH/LAGOON - This really isn't a beach, it's a wooded area with a bit of hard sand and lots of cobbles going down into the water, not good on the feet.
However, the scenery was lovely and it is nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the hotel pool. You where served a cheese salad roll for lunch and juice was unlimited, if you wanted anything else than you had to pay. Sunbeds, Pedelo’s and canoes are free, (I understand why cos they don't go in the direction you want them to, but at least we did manage to get out into the lagoon).
KIDS CLUB - My son loved it, (don't know why they always seemed to be drawing and little else in the way of games). The park area was ok, and a couple of times they did take the kids to the pool, which I would have preferred it if I had been asked, despite me sitting in the pool area. I don't think they did much with the kids as it is run by the hotel and due to the language barrier it would have been hard to do anything else.
ENTERTAINMENT - This was excruciating most of the time, but my son loved it. However, TUTU one of the entertainment team did a fantastic act one night of fire-eating, walking on glass, putting his face and body in it while people stood on him.
THINGS TO DO - If you have been to Turkey before and you have done the excursions then there isn't really much else to do. I went to Olu Deniz Beach which was awful, lots of stones and shingle and going into the sea particularly dangerous with a shelf that drops within a metre of getting in, and the waves are strong and quite high.
The town is alright but not every day/night.
On day 7 I went down with gastroenteritis, not sure whether the food or drink caused it. I starved myself for 15 hours and it still continued and eventually got tablets from the pharmacy. Because I was still being ill, I starved myself again for a further 27 hours and decided to drink bottled water I had purchased and ate out after this. I have been home 24 hours and my mom and son have also gone down with it and I have resorted to going to the doctors.

Hotel in general was ok, someday's...
4 / 10
Aug 2007,  A Hicks

Hotel in general was ok, someday's the paths were littered with rubbish.
Food ok no dress code I have never been in a four star hotel where you come down for dinner in t-shirts and flip flops.
Pools not suitable at all. No life guards and the indoor pool had been taken over by the teenagers of the hotel. It felt very intimidating we only used it once for about 10mins tried to use it on other occasion but was faced with the same situation. We had nowhere to go out of the hot sun with my little boy.
Kids club none, colouring was available and that was about it. No organised games or activities. It got to a point that I felt like doing something myself.
Rooms we had a night flight but we did not have a room from 5pm we did not get picked up until 1.30am, 7 hours without a room with a small child is bad.
I have never stayed in a four star hotel and not kept the room. When waiting for the pickup and there was some other people and they were handing in key as they got on the coach and they did not have children - how did that work?
I would not recommend this hotel for the price and it was full of people with no respect for anything. There are nicer hotels in the area which we will be booking.

Arrived at three in the morning with...
9 / 10
Aug 2007, Mrs D L Wild

Arrived at three in the morning with our 11 year old daughter in tow, found we had been lucky enough to have our accommodation in the 'Honeymoon Cabin' but unfortunately there was no bed for our daughter so had to wait around an hour for a camp bed to be brought up. The hotel is set in the beautiful mountainside area of Olu Deniz a short walk to the public beach and shops.
The staff are very friendly and accommodating and run an entertainments programme throughout the day and night.
The cabin was beautiful with a four poster bed, Jacuzzi bath and private garden area - it also had the best air conditioning in the whole complex so all nights spent there were comfortable!
The complex itself was very clean and tidy, the pool area was also clean although there was a slip hazard around the pool area if the floor got wet - many people slipped and fell.
The food in the outdoor restaurant was wonderful with a large variety of dishes to cover all tastes, breakfast was served from 08.00 - 10.00 then lunch from midday to 14.30, snacks (burgers, hotdogs and chips) from 14.30 - 17.30, tea and cakes from 16.30 - 17.30 and dinner from 19.30 - 21.30, night soup from 23.00 to midnight and home-made ice cream was served from midday to 14.00.
On the bad side it was a fight in the morning to get sun beds around the pool and many people would sit around from 07.00 onwards to ensure they had enough beds for the day - if you left your sun beds prior to 09.00 the maid would remove them so you had to sit and look after your sun beds and parasols.
The free shuttle bus to the Blue Lagoon private beach was a lifesaver and the beach beautiful with free pedaloes and canoes and free sandwich/roll and drinks available.
Overall it was a wonderful holiday but I believe this was due to us being very lucky to have use of the honeymoon cabin as I did meet and speak to people who complained that their rooms were not very good - very small and needing a good refurb, although others said their rooms were fine so I guess it is luck of the draw.
I would go back again - but only if I was lucky enough to have a good room or use of the cabin again!

Just returned from an amazing holiday...

Aug 2007, Mr J Perry

Just returned from an amazing holiday in Sun City, it was my family’s 3rd time in a row of going there but we never get bored because there is so much to do.
The staff are brilliant very friendly, entertainers were a little below par than last year but still quite funny, tutu and banu and the other entertainers put on good shows and activities during the day.
Food was very nice, a great selection of salads, meat and soup although the wasps were a bit of a pain sometimes! Bar staff very friendly and we got quit friendly with a couple like savas and the shop keeper osman who I will be seeing next year.
Sunbeds can be a problem in the mornings, most are taken by about 9 o clock, but it’s just a matter of getting up. Was also very hot this year are hottest day was 49 degrees which was lovely.
Private beach was very pretty and peaceful on the pedelo’s and the canoes just looking around at the stunning views and a lot of sunbeds with bean bags down there which can be nice and relaxing.
We look forward to coming back to Olu Deniz and sun city next summer.
