Loved these apartments, we spent 2 weeks here and had a great holiday and we are hoping to return next year!

The rooms where lovely and clean, view from the balcony was brill, we had requested a high floor and a pool view, they threw in the mountains and the sea view as well!!!

I would definitely recommend these apartments if you have young children, we took our 9 yr old and she had a great time. The 2 lads who provided the entertainment where great (scooby and croissant).

The first choice reps where great, approachable and always happy to help. The reception staff where the same.

I am just back from some time at the cala dor playa and i must say i definatly be going back.

The hotel was excellent and the kids reps made our holiday so special for our children. The kids club ran every day apart from a saturday when the girls got a well deserved day off. hyper heather and dancing danielle were so friendly and my kids always came away from kids club laughing. We enjoyed the first choice mini disco every night too.

Danny was our mainline rep and he was so nice and helpful.he was more of a friend than a rep.

The 2 entertainers were around for a while during the day with different activities but we just wanted to relax and the kids always wanted to go back to kids club..especially the chocolate party.

The receptionist however was not so helpful she was rude and i dont think i saw her smile for the whole time i was there. If you need anything ask the male receptionist or the one with the blonde hair!

I would recommend this hotel and first choice to anyone looking for a relaxing fun holiday. 10 out of 10!!

Plesantly surprised at the standard of this hotel, it was very clean, nice staff (except female receptionist). The entertainment was good for the children and the swimming pool was fantastic. The first choice rep nicky was great, very helpful and very friendly. There are loads of nice bars and restaurants out and about but its worth going to the welcome meeting to find out the other stuff you can do, i would recomend going to the caves of drach and the kids loved marienland, but anyone doesnt matter what age must go to see the pirates it was fantastic!!I would definitley go back to this hotel next year.

This was my fifth visit to Cala D'or and this was without doubt the best place I have stayed in terms of location and what was on offer in particular for kids. Accommodation is pretty standard in terms of a one bed-roomed apartment, nice-sized balcony, did need the air conditioning of a night. My kids are 9 and 6 and they had a whale of a time, as did myself and the missus. Pool and splash park were great, could get busy around the pool, (what else would you expect in July / August?) but the atmosphere was fantastic. I take people as I find, and the 2 entertainment staff (Scoopy and Crossiant) were top draw, couldn’t do enough for the kids, threw themselves into all the games (played quite a bit of table tennis / footy myself) and all in all thought they were great. I take on board comments re waking residents etc, but I couldn't say I saw that myself and the overall impression I got talking to others was that they were both great value and well-liked by the majority-lets face it you are never going to please everyone are you? Can't speak much for the entertainment of an evening as we used to go elsewhere, though we came back for a bit of bingo and a late drink (bar shuts at 1am) which was great, Scooby and Crossiant were there till late, happy to have a beer and chat with you..

Can I also add the reception staff, well in particular one fella , Felipe, was absolutely brilliant, couldn't do enough to help or assist throughout our stay. I actually left some stuff from my safety deposit box out there and Felipe kindly sent everything back registered post, no payment required. The guy is a legend..!!!!

As for the resort, well there is more than enough going on for all, though I will add its definitely geared towards to families. Lots going on in the evening will recommend the Duke of Devonshire for a lovely Sunday roast and Tropical Gardens for some entertainment..

A great resort the Playa is lovely, I've stayed at the Azul Park up the road, and overall I preferred the Playa, though I would recommend either.

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday, but I have to say that this was due to the wonderful weather, great beaches and fantastic restaurants we discovered, rather than the apartment. Our apartment was pretty much as I expected - quite basic but it was cleaned regularly and we got clean towels daily which I didn't expect. The balconies were very big and we made great use of this space. I think we had a good position - not too close to the pool and bar which tends to be the noisy area but also not overlooking the car park which wasn't a great view - we also didn't get direct sun and had some shade from trees so we found we didn't have to pay for the air conditioning. It is very noisy at night however - even though there are signs everywhere to say respect your fellow guests no one seemed to pay any attention to this and it wasn't unusual to be woken after midnight with kids screaming down the corridor. It also seems to echo around the complex. The pool although lovely was somewhere we didn't go to much - if you didn't get down there before 9.30 you had no hope of getting a bed in the sun - it seemed to be the same people in the same places everyday. Most times we went there was from about 4pm when there were a few beds available - but as the holiday went on we went there less and less.

We would recommend leaving the complex as much as possible and heading to the two great beaches nearby - Cala Esmeralda and Cala Gran - they are fantastic - the sea is warm and the views are stunning. Don't miss the daily entertainment of the fruit man at the beaches - Cala Esmeralda's fruit man we thought was the best - and the fruit is fantastic. The first day we arrived was about lunchtime and so we headed to the snack bar by the pool. We were really disappointed at the type of food available, chips, chips, chips interspersed with fried egg and baked beans seemed to dominate the menu - needless to say we never went there again. You can head into town and find heaps of restaurants that serve tapas, paella and other lovely food. We headed to the local supermarket and bought meats and cheeses, fresh fruit and bread daily for our lunch. Children are well catered for in all the restaurants. It is a very family friendly resort.

Provided you don't centre all your activities around the apartments you can have a wonderful holiday - enjoy!

I found the accommodation here to be of a good standard and all of the staff were helpful and friendly.

The location of the appartments allows you to walk to all of the nearby beaches within an easy 10-15 minutes.

There are many bars and restaurants within walking distance yet noise at night was never a problem.

Prices within the appartments for food and drink were towards the top end of the range but there are many other choices nearby and a recommendation here is made for Cafeteria Marfil on Marques De Comillas for choice/quality and a warm welcome.

For a family holiday Cala d`or has to be the place and these appartments did not disappoint.

I am approaching my 16th birthday, and have just returned from a weeks holiday with family at the Cala D'Or Playa Apartments.

In general, the accomodation is satisfactory. The rooms are a comfortable size and are always cleaned to a good standard. The pool area is great for younger children. The swimming pool itself is of a good size and the jacuzzi area is perfect for those whose just want to relax and cool off!

The surrounding area is very attractive and I found having the beach so close by a huge plus. The resort is very close to some great restaurants. One I must mention is "Walshies" a small, Irish, family run bar, a 5 minute walk away. The staff here are so friendly and having breakfast there every morning was very enjoyable!

The only thing I found to be not so positive about Cala D'Or Playa, were the entertainment staff. Although great for the younger children, it was evident they didnt think twice about physically waking residents from rest, and sometimes even throwing them into the pool without their consent. I, myself experienced a bit of bother with such individuals. Although they are great with the younger children, and provided them with lots to do, I dont think it was approrpriate for them to disturb residents who did not wish to participate.

On the whole, this resort is definately worth a visit. However, I doubt I would visit there again as there isnt an overally big amount for teenagers like myself to do. A great place to visit if you're a family with young children though!

We were transferred to this hotel whch has to be the worst we have stayed in since visiting Bulgaria in the 1970's.

The rooms fall far short of acceptable standsrd and are insecure, unclean. insanitary and unsafe. There is thin sheeet glass throughout the building (not safety glass) and in one of the 4 apartments we were in during our 3 nights here a large picture window was not securely fixed to the window frame.A glazed picture was split accross the glass not secured to the wall and was located above the headboard in the bedroom.

There was also loose masonery on the veranda ledge on this 2nd floor slum.

This place is so bad that we transferred ourselves to another Hotel, many locals are aware of the problem and the best solution is demolition. We have registered our concerns with the Ballearic Authorities in Palma and ABTA in London

My rating of 1 should actualy be -10 but there is no option for this on the form.

Please don't go here.

My husband myself and our 9 year old twin boys have had a fantastic holiday to Cala D'Or Playa - we only went for 1 week and it flew by, we would happily have stayed another week. The apartments were basic, but clean with a large balcony.

There are two beautiful beaches nearby, however, the boys preferred to stay at the pool, which was gorgeous. The two male reps were fantasic, they were brilliant with the children, and parents alike - you can tell they really enjoy their jobs, and have great fun! We had lunch most days at the complex which was always really nice.

The only downside for us on this holiday was the lack of entertainment. The girls that did the childrens disco in the evening, I think was really only there for a summer job, as they didn't really look to enjoy themselves or get that involved with the children, and the disco was very poor - same c.d every night in the same order!!! After the childrens disco apart from bingo not much on. We tended to go up the road into the centre where there was a great open air bar, that had live entertainment ever night from singers to hypnotists, this was a popular place to go.

Our balcony faced another complex over the road which had some brilliant acts on every night, however the noise level was very loud and you had no chance of goiong to sleep until that was over - which was usually around midnight. After saying that I think there was only our apartment that was facing that complex, so the other rooms shouldn't be bothered by it.

All in all, great place, great holiday - we all loved it, and as I said we would happily stayed another week. We would go back and we would recommend it to friends. If you go you won't be dissapointed - have a great holiday x x

I have been to this resort 3 times already with my family and we are going again in 3 weeks time. I have to say this is one of the best resorts i have visted, everything is so close by e.g the shops, restaurants etc. It is great for famillies with younger children as you dont always have to run around after them because from your sunbed you can see them clearly where ever they are. Also the kids clubs seemed very good although i didnt personally experience what they did but all the children seemed to be enjoying themselves which is the main thing. On the other hand it was not so good for teenagers like myself but a quick 5 minute walk and your at the shops. The appartments are really clean and the cleaners and reception staff are so friendly.

I would recomend this resort to families who want to enjoy their break in the sun. There is just a really nice atmosphere and the entertainers are a real laugh.

just returned from a weeks holiday at these apartments. the rooms were very nice and kept clean, the pool area was nice if you could get a sun bed, the hotel is aimed at younger children and is perfect for young families not very good for teenagers a they get bored as my daughter did. also if you want a quiet drink at the bar at the end of the day you will most likley get caught up in playing silly games with the 2 male reps, which wasnt my idea of ending the day. when you dont join in and this is about eleven in the evening you are told you are not sociable and are forced to join in. my eldest daughter was insulted by one of the male reps about her age and was very upset as she is in her twentys and was told she looked 35. my fifteen year old was draged out of her chair as they tried to make her join in the games and my husband and i ended the night on stage with lots of small children doing funny dances. i like a laugh while on holiday but this was something else. when you say NO you dont want to join in it should mean NO.overall the resort was fine although the entertainment was not very good. bars and eating places where good lots of them, and the sunset cruise is a must. as for the appartments i wont be going back.

Just returned from 1 weeks stay at the Cala D Or Playa Appartments. Nice hotel, lovely rooms. Grounds very clean and well kept. The hotel is occupied by Irish & Scots, with no respect shown to other guests staying at the hotel especially at night. Our children enjoyed their stay (5 & 2) but the kids club was the worst ever! If a small number of children turned up for an event they cancelled it, on one occassion when they cancelled the 3 female entertainers said they would play with the children around the pool (90 % of kids activities are held in the basement of the hotel). That never happened as they sat and chatted amongst themselves, sunbathed and then messed about with the 2 young male entertainers for 2 hours totally ignoring the children (one even told my 5 year old not to splash her with the water from the pool) - very poor. Resort was fine, too many touts trying to get you into the bars and restaurants. Overall an okay holiday. Would definately not book a First Choice run hotel again though!

Cala D'Or Playa apartments were kept clean and had large balcony with the bonus of TV and Air Con (at extra cost) if required. Equipment was quite basic but not a problem.

Pool area was again very clean and safe. Pool never seemed over crowded although the sun loungers were pretty much all used. Nearby beaches were clean and very pretty but got very crowded as they are small coves. Best time to visit was probably after 6.00pm.

Kids club was OK although if your child is still in nappies then they cant be included. Disco in the evening kept the little ones entertained for a period. Staff on reception were helpful.

First Choice Reps were always available.

Cala D'Or is fairly typical of what you would expect in most tourist resort. Its clean but has replaced Spanish authenticity with tourist demands. For example, the restaurants of which there are plenty offer a very similar menu..a couple of exceptions.. but best bet is head for the Marina. They do seem to wind down early.... 11.00pm is quite normal in the rest of Spain to arrive at a resturant not leave! Few too many bars with poor tribute bands or karaoke. And as per usual standard San Miguel beer seems to be the only option which is a shame as its not really the popular choice for the Spanish. I did find Estrella and Mahou near Cala Grand beach..

Its a nice enough place but would I go back. No point, its not got enough character that sets it apart from numerous other resorts in Ibiza or Gran Caneria.

In summary. Good for families with kids (not teens) that fancy a lazy week or two around the pool and are not fussed to sample genuine Spainish culture or cuisine.

We have just arrived back from a 2 week stay at the Cala Dor Playa Apts. The apartments are fantastic if you have kids. We have a 5, 3 and an 18month old and they all enjoyed it. The splash park, Childrens pool, large pool and Playground will keep the children entertained for hours. The Kids Club reps are brilliant when they are not running the club they are having fun in the pool with the kids, at the mini disco or doing face painting in the evening. There are also 2 entertainment guys who do games around the pool in the day and also arrange entertainment in the evening as well.

Apts are clean and everything you need for a self catering holiday. We had an apt around the corner from the playground which had a huge balcony.

The esmerelda beach is just a short walk from the apts so are the restaurants and supermarket. The apts are in an ideal location and have everything you need for a great family holiday for all ages.
