Booked this holiday as a late deal...
6 / 10
Aug 2006, Mr R James

Booked this holiday as a late deal via the internet for myself, partner and 2 year old son . Fist impressions excellent as the exterior of the hotel is clean and well maintained, location is also ideal with a five minute walk to beach.
We have both experienced Greece before so know that rooms tend to be a bit basic but our room was below our expectation's , list of concerns below.
1) Very small room for a family, just enough room for the beds and liitle else .
2) shower head hanging out of wall.
3) Shower curtain mouldy .
4) Toilet roll holder and bin lid broken.
5) View over back yard of hotel owners house which was full of toys/inflatables left behind by holiday makers.
6) same towels for 3 days from arrival (small hand towels) , told to throw them on floor if we wanted them changed but maids hung them back over balcony.
7) Wooden chair in room broken , seat fell off .
8) Rooms not cleaned when returning from beach at 5pm , had to sit by the pool while it was cleaned.
9) Balcony light did not work , reported on 3 consecutive days .Had to insist before it got repaired.
I understand other floors of hotel are in better condition so this may not be reflective of all of the whole hotel . We still had a fantastic holiday as roda is a lovely family resort where everyone is very friendly .Will definitely go back to roda but not the silver beech.

This was without doubt the best...
10 / 10
Aug 2006, Mr Dave Bailey

This was without doubt the best holiday I have ever had. Silver Beach is a wonderfully attractive hotel, well run and very clean. In particular, the staff there are friendly, helpful and show an interest in their guests.
A very special mention to Alex who serves at the cocktail bar adjacent to the outdoor pool. Her friendship and beauty were a major contribution to my holiday enjoyment. She was great company, made me laugh and she makes wicked cocktails! The morning staff serving breakfast were also friendly and quietly professional.
The village of Roda is an excellent base for touring the North, North West and Eastern Coasts of Corfu. Paleokastritsa, Kassiopi, Acharavi and of course Corfu Town were all beautiful places to visit and the jeep safari into the mountains was incredible. Such a great holiday that I am returning to Silver Beach Hotel in September for more of the same. Dave.

Aug 2006, Mrs S RUDDELL

My husband and I booked a last minute holiday over the internet. We were looking for a relaxing holiday and found the perfect place. Roda is a small resort (it only takes about twenty minutes to stroll round the resort). It has plenty to offer with many restaurants and tavernas.
The Silver Beach Hotel is clean and tidy with very friendly staff especially Alex and Demitris who make you feel very welcome. The hotel is very well run by Matula and they will do all they can to make your stay comfortable. I would highly recommend the Silver Beach and would definitely visit again in the near future.

My Husband had holidayed in Roda...

Aug 2006, Mrs J Manley

My Husband had holidayed in Roda 13-14 years ago but I had not been before. I was very pleasantly surprised at what a lovely resort Roda is.
There are lots of tavernas and restaurants to choose from – so many we were spoilt for choice. The hotel silver beach was lovely- clean, spacious and towels were changed often. We also had air conditioning.
The pool area was spotlessly clean, lots of sun-beds and a pool-side bar and snacks. The Greek night was also good fun. The weather was very good and we will definitely go back next year.

Stayed here in Sept 2005 but hadn’t...

Jul 2006, quellysmedlington

Stayed here in Sept 2005 but hadn’t got round to writing a review and don't want people to miss out on this little beauty!
Having to check out of "another" accommodation in Roda (due to damp), we booked into the Silver Beach. They were great!
After explaining our predicament to the owner of the hotel (our First Choice rep couldn’t find us any alternative accommodation apparently). She offered to show us the room before we agreed to stay there. It was excellent. A double bed for us and a camp bed for our son. The price which included half board was a joke - meaning it was a fraction of the price we expected. Book this hotel direct - you will get an excellent deal. Very high standard for a 3* hotel in Greece.
My son had an accident in the pool the 2nd day we were there and they were so helpful. Calling a doctor etc. The owners family live next door and after that my son played with Matoula's (the owner) twins all week. Really felt welcome and would go back.
Food-all freshly cooked by the family. Evening meals excellent. Lovely barman who always asked how you were etc... Recommend the Greek night, the food again is lovely.
Clean rooms and pool area.
Thank you for rescuing us Silver Beach! XX

Our resort was the last of several...
8 / 10
Sep 2004, Mr H Trevelyn

Our resort was the last of several Acharavi - Roda stops and so dragged on for 2 hours. Viewing some of the other resorts started to give us misgivings - but on arrival at the Roda beach Village all that disappeared. The resort has a large hotel-style 24/7 reception. The staff spoke excellent English (and other languages) and we soon had a porter to take us through the large complex to our room. Unfortunately there had been a mix-up at this point and 'our' room had not been vacated! As it turned out, Thomas Cook are assigned a block of rooms and we were taken to the wrong block.
Once we were in - the family room appeared exactly as in the brochure about 20'x10', comprising a queen-sized bed, a pair of bunk beds, dressing table, bathroom, wardrobe and TV.
The main block with the dining facilities was a 50m walk through the grounds, we had all-inclusive and the restaurant provided 3x 2-hour sittings for breakfast, lunch & dinner. The buffet food was of good quality, but it was sometimes difficult to mix and match a recognizable meal. We usually opted for whatever meat/fish/poultry was available on a large bed of salad rather than the roast potatoes/pasta on offer. Rice would have been nice occasionally!
One slight criticism was that it was usually necessary to sit at a recently vacated table and wait for the waiters to clear & clean before you could get your meal. Wine/beer/soft drinks/water/juice was always on tap and there was a nice coffee/bar area below the dining room.
The grounds were clean and well tended - there were lots of loungers around the 3 pools, but as always some tourists would reserve them from early in the morning.
The poolside bar provided a range of beer/wine/alcohol/soft drinks plus filled rolls outside main meal times and the beach bar provided a complete range of drinks and beverages, plus it had a galley, which served up chips, pizzas, kebabs and rolls. The beach bar was ideally situated at the corner of an 'L' shaped strip of fine sandy beach - with loungers and parasols at 1Euro each.
The beach bar also provided excellent evening entertainment provided by Thomas Cooks entertainment team.
All in all it was an enjoyable stay and I am looking to repeat the experience in 2005 - however Thomas Cook appear to be the only English travel agents serving the resort for next year and my eldest daughter will have reached the awkward age of 13 - whereby she is too old to join us in a Thomas Cook family room and too young to have her own room. Thomson’s can’t book it either, even though the German TUI operate there.

Overall, a fabulous holiday except...

Jun 2004, Welshheather

Overall, a fabulous holiday except for one thing; the food in the hotel was boring to say the least; no variation at all and not very hot. Most people complained about it, and we ended up eating out more than we’d planned, which meant going well over budget. Also you had to clear away your own table when you’d finished, something I’d never seen before.
Other than that it was a very nice, friendly hotel, clean rooms,(but basic), maid service daily (except Sundays), nice pool area, bar, etc and situated close to the beach, shops, bars, in fact everything you could ask for. There was no trouble with noise at night either as the balcony doors are all double glazed, which was a great advantage. I would go there again, but definitely not on a half-board basis, eating out was much better!
