My girlfriend and i stayed for 1week in July. The hotel was clean, and the staff friendly. Our room was small but adequate, the pictures in the brochure are deceptive and give the impression of the rooms being more spacious, and having a kitchen/dining area -which it doesn`t.The breakfast consists of toast, hard boiled eggs, cheese and ham and operates on a school dinner basis where you clear up after yourself. This all sounds pessimistic, we did however enjoy our stay. For a decent breakfast try the bar opposite the hotel and just to the left of the car hire/ excursion shop. In the evenings we ate at a family run restaurant (Nikkis Taverna) down the road opposite. All the members of the family work there, the food is very good indeed and all the family make you very welcome .For a pre dinner cocktail try the bar facing the seafront to the side of the Aphrodite Hotel. Roda is a small and a very enjoyable resort. We managed to get free drinks at the all inclusive German hotel, henceforth known as freebie tuesday! We hired a jeep and went all over the island, the roads are often narrow and not good if you suffer from vertigo. Try Corfu Town and Kassiopi. The boat trip to Paxos and Ante Paxos was a very long day but well worth the effort.

  • Advice: Very friendly, small, very flat suitable for small children and people with disabilities.
  • Activities: Nikkis Taverna, boat trip to Paxos

Condition of bathroom
3 / 10
Sep 2009, swampy64

we have just returned from a weeks stay at The Silver Beach Hotel and found as have some of the reviewers that the pool surround and cleanliness of the bedrooms was very good the state of the bathroom was, even by Greek standards, very poor the shower head had nowhere to hang it and the general state of the bathroom was dirty with cracks in the tiles and also the shower base. On the first day we arrived we found that in the main room the main light did not work, we finally had it repaired on the evening before we left. The breakfast was really one of the worst breakfasts that I have seen---warm orange juice, cold coffee, cold scrambled eggs and cheese slices everyday--needless to say we went out for breakfast there are plenty places to choose from but we would highly recommend The Big Ben fun pub on the beach road.

Nice and clean hotel

Aug 2009, Olinka

I have to say that we had a really nice holiday in this hotel with my boyfriend. The hotel was very clean, the stuff helpful and when we found something damaged, it was repaired the other day. Swimming pool was all right and half board tasty, although breakfast was all the same, but it is quite understandable in 2star hotel. I can recommend it.

We arrived at this place three hours after our booking in time and were told our room wasn't ready and to wait until called. We waited for a hour still no one came to speak to us so we went and asked ourselves only to be told that the hotel was fully booked and we had to stay down the road in their other accommodation, it was a horrible dark small room with two single beds, a toilet and shower that didnt work properly and a belcony that looked over a stairwell-nice!! we tryed to get moved but the staff were rude and wouldnt help, as we are a young couple I think they took advantage. To everyone that wrote good reports you must have been lucky we wish we had been. Seriously dont stay here there are plenty of other good places to stay.

I stayed there last month - everything was brilliant. After reading all those damaging posts I can only say that now its obviously pulled itself up by the stocking tops and is running really well.
This is Greece remember, you don't put paper down the loo in Greece. You don't get a full English breakfast in Greece - you get eggs and yohurt and cake, which does get a little repetative (but whats more repetative than a full English?)
The place was spotless, the rooms were cleaned every day except Sunday; the towels and sheets were changed twice in a week (do you do that at home?) The staff were friendly and polite and spoke excellent English as well as French and German (can you do that?)
The only negative (for me) was the everlasting background music. One one occasion I returned to an empty hotel mid afternoon, and the girl behind the bar (always open) turned the music on. When I asked her if she would mind if we didn't have it she was surprised, but thankfully she stopped playing it (until other guests came back).
I can fully reccommend this hotel but I wouldn't travel Thomas Cook again as their excursions were a rip-off.

  • Advice: Don'e expect a night-life, its a family resort.

the hotel was very poor indeed!! to say the least!! the room sheets where dirty when we got to the hotel at 4.30 am and that was the last thing we needed at that time of the morning! the lights did not work in the hall way, where a lady guest fell down the stairs and broke her leg!! the breckfast was i disgerace! the tom keptup was 6 monts out of date!! the room tolite was blocked and the smell of human s*it was unreal i had to hose down the bathroom with shower and 1 bottle of shower gel as that is all we had! the pool was dirty and not once cleaned till the last day we where there!! did not even go into the pool!! so we got moved after the 3 day, as you dont need this on a 1 week holiday!! I WOULD SAY STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!!!

Me an my boyfriend stayed at the silver beach for two weeks and not once did we have a problem! the staff were lovely and always ready to help! the food isnt really that nice BUT there are plenty of other lovely restaurants at hand and arnt to expensive! we strongly recomemend "SMILIES" :) ask for lisa shes great! are rooms were cleaned on a daily basis and if we wanted clean towels or sheets we only had to ask and they would do it for us.
We were very woried about coming here because of all the awful reviews we had read, but we were very pleased when we got there. We always had running water and it was always hot!!!
i dont feel people are being very fair with their reviews at the end of the day it isnt a five star hotel, you get what you pay for!!
Well i promise that you shouldnt worry about it you will be pleased with what you see when you arive, every1 to their own. You make your own fun.
P.S we are a young couple and we had one of the best holidays ever, hunt down the crown pub run by scousers so great! happy hour everyday all drinks half price crazy bingo woo hoo!!

Hotel was clean, room adequate, food not bad. However when we booked this holiday we were told it was air conditioned. It was but at an extra 35 Euros aweek. Also the fridge was an extra 42 Euros a week. not good if you are diabetic and need to refridgerate your Insulin. However, close to some great restaurants and the sea. One of the only SANDY beaches on the island !

staff were friendly apart from the owners! Food was very disappointing, the only dessert on offer apart from 4 of the 14 we stayed was water melon. The choice of evening meal was very limited, if you liked pork or fish you were fine. The drain in our bathroom smelt the whole holiday.and our friends had to put up with flies coming out of theirs!!!. Overall we were very disappointed as this is our twelth holiday in the Greek islands and this was the worst hotel we have stayed in. Thank goodness there were some excellent restaurants nearby especially the Roda Park. The air conditioning was not put on in the dining room but the doors left open so every night there were flies and mosquitos we got bit every time.

what can i say? i am trying to think of something positive?. the reception was nice and the receptionist very helpfull. but after arriving at 5.00am on tuesday with our room booked from the 1st of sept we were finally given a room at 3.00pm on the 2nd. we spent the next 11 days in this hotel and we had the same sheets for the next 11 days..... mind you they did repair our shower and get it working after just 4 days...the pool was dirty, the bar staff unhelpfull, no entertainment- unless you paid for it. the breakfast unedible. the place was a nightmare i would dearly love to know where the photos came from on the cosmos site because it certainly wasent the room i was in... would i go back to roda? definately some lovely people and restaurants- just not the silver beach. i was lucky i only paid 520.00 for my stay others had paid over 1,200.. i would have cried. anyway good luck to those who decide to go just remember what you nsee is not what you get.
