Tiara Beach Hotel is now a 4 star plus hotel and is worthy of its stars. It is spotlessly clean, maids come into room every day and leave clean towels, mop floor etc. the food is quite good with lots of choice to suit everyone. The hotel reps put on a show every night which is very good. Also there is a kids club. The reps are very friendly (usually I dont say that but its true). There is a lovely decent sized pool with luxury sunbeds (not plastic). There is a good sauna, average gym and indoor swimming pool. The hotel is positioned in a nice spot, not in the centre of the resort but not that far away. If you dont want to walk to the centre then there is a noddy train for 3 levs each (£1.29)
If you want to dine out there are plenty of restaurants/bars nearby to try. Some bars sold a beer for 1 lev (43p) but in lively disco pubs is was 3 levs for a beer and between 6 and 9 levs for 2 cocktails all bulgarian spirits.(£2.58 - £3.87).
The beach is lovely with watersports very close by. A boat will take you to Nessebar for 15 levs each (£6.45 each). Manicures and pedicures are fairly cheap compared to the UK, also portraits are reasonable. A water park is a taxi ride away or a free bus is provided which is a very enjoyable day.Bikes are cheap to hire.
Last year I stayed at the Globus hotel but I much prefer this one. The bulgarian people have improved dramatically from last year. They are much more pleasant. I would recommend this hotel to families with small children.

Had stayed at this hotel last summer and although there were things not exactly to our taste we liked the hotel and the resort. Having just returned we felt we made the mistake of going back a second time and the trip did not live up to our memories. The hotel is very impressive and spotlessly clean. However the indoor pool was a huge disappointment. It is always empty and I now know why. The water is absolutely freezing and despite my determination and swimming many lengths it remained the same. I felt chilled for the remainder of the night. Outdoor pool is beautiful but filled with huge inflatables despite the rules stating that they were not allowed. In the fitness suite equipment was broken and a fellow guest stated that the same equipment was broken in the same place last year and still had not been mended! The evening "entertainment" was also a let down. The entertainment team were enthusiastic but the performances tended to drive most people to the nearest pubs until it was over. It suited families with very young children but not any one else. Miming to music each night is not really what the majority of people were looking for. A night of Bulgarian dancing/ music would have been good. We also felt that cutbacks in the restaurant did not help. Long queues for tea and coffee were frustating - previously staff brought jugs of coffee tea and milk to the tables. Standard of the food was not too great either. Plenty of choice but very greasy and smothered in sauces. Also there was no cards indicating what the meal was. last year there were and this was helpful in identifying new dishes. Holiday was great but Iberostar's standard had dropped significantly which was a shame. Sad to say we won't be back for a third year.

Having recently returned home from my holiday in bulgaria and having stayed in Tiara Beach hotel, i feel that i can make a comment on what i thought of the hotel, as far as the rooms, and how clean the hotel was i have no complaints, however if you are reading this review thinking of staying at this hotel be warned although it was nice it was full of germans, could never get a sun bed without having to get up at the crack of dawn, with them placing their towels on them from 6am, the food is german and i found the germans to be rude. surfice to say i will not be returning to sunny beach.

I have just returned from holiday and I have now stayed at this hotel twice. The hotel, in my opinion, should be 5 star - the rooms, with air conditioning, are very clean, linen etc changed every day. The public toilets are spotless.
The restaurant obviously caters for the Germans but I like their food - there is an array of English food there as well - and plenty of it. The desserts are something else - amazing!! The wine is excellent (this of course is an extra cost - as you would expect). I found the staff very helpful - tipping them does wonders - believe me.
The pool and facilities are superb. Be prepared to mix with the Germans with the games that are played daily - I had a great time with them as well as with the young lads and girls who organize them - well done to all concerned!!
I went on 2 excursions last year (not this year as I wanted to just chill out). The 'Night of Tradition' is well worth it and the trip into the mountains with a fantastic cable car ride down is breathtaking!
The resort, outside of the hotel, is really not for me - it is interesting to see it though. It is more for the young, it is vibrant, loud and possibly similar to other areas elsewhere in the world - the Canary Islands spring to mind.
Finally, I will be returning in 2009 and this time I am taking 14 people with me - my whole family. Also some German people I met this year are also returning at the same time that we go. Lesson to be learnt - language is not a barrier. You will be made most welcome - just put yourself out a bit and drop the English reserveness!!

Just returned from this Hotel. Hotel spotless always been cleaned. The let down is the restuarant. The food is covered in grease. The bacon at breakfast was all fat. The bread was either stale or moldy the fruit was moldy also. They put out chesse on a night but no biscuits, you had to ask for them . One night there was no veg at all.
The tables are cleared but never set up again or you do get a table go to get your next course and your table had been cleared.
Never any cups or glasses you try to ask for some they can not spark english so dont understand.
The resort is just like Blackpool plenty of takey shops and nothing else. Excursions very expensive and set off at 8am. Gypsy market on a Thursday sells same junk as shops not worth going to round it in ten minutes. Toilet at market a hole in the ground.
Prices going up as english are there 2.50 lev for a beer 1.5 lev for abottle of water get out of the resort and beer is 1 lev and water .80lev. They are cashing in on the tourist.
Duty free hop much cheaper for cigs than the street sellers but son not have silk cut cigs.
Would we go back NO.

I had previously been to Bulgaria (Golden Sands) about 10 years ago (I was only young and the most vivid memory was getting lost on the beach!), but i was very keen to see how it had developed so me and my boyfriend decided to go for 1 week.
The hotel is absolutely amazing, it is spotless and the rooms are thoroughly cleaned everyday. The staff speak good English and are very willing to help - I felt as though I was living in luxury.
The food wasn't to my taste, but it is soooo cheap that we ate out every night. Also, we're a young couple so we didn't stay in the hotel to see the entertainment; we went into Sunny Beach and had a few drinks. It is so cheap that we couldn't spend out money if we tried. I went for 1 week and spent £150 (bearing in mind that includes eating out and drinking every night). I think it may have gone up since they have joined the Euro but i expect it is still very cheap.
The only down side is getting a sun bed. My boyfriend was having to get up at 7am to put towels down if we wanted one in order to beat the Germans (and after a heavy night this isn't really what you want to be doing!) But the beach is gorgeous so we were more than happy to spend a few days there.
I would recommend both sunny beach and tiara beach hotel very highly.

We read loads of reports before we went, about sunny beach, good and bad and decided to try it out ourselves.
What a great time we had. I would rate this hotel 5 star, its that grand. In a quieter area of sunny beach. The staff are all friendly, food is excellent and there is always plenty to chose from although more for the German taste. A large hotel with an indoor pool, hairdresser/beautician, little shop which is very cheap compared to those outside hotel. Entertainment is on site but I’m afraid we were always out so didn't see any.
Sunny beach is amazing. Cheap is the best word to describe everything, from eating and drinking out, shopping, McDonalds, leather goods. You will certainly buy alot, but always shop around, the prices vary alot. Don't wait till you get to the airport as there is nothing to buy. Only one fault with our holiday we, only booked for one week. Would definitely go back.

Excellent holiday. We booked this holiday back in March 2004 for the Grand Hotel Sunny Beach. About 10 weeks before we were due to go, we were telephoned and informed that the Grand was no longer available as TC weren’t renewing their contract and we were offered the Iberostar Tiara beach as a replacement.
It felt like I had won the lottery. I would rate this hotel along side Marriott hotels back home. The Hotel is spotless, rooms are cleaned every day, bed linen changed every other day. Reception staff all speak good English however the cleaning and catering staff don’t.
Breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent if you like your food there were pancakes, bread, fruit, cereal, cold meat, pate, scrambled egg, fried egg, frankfurters, numerous pastries for breakfast. Dinner had choice of three soups, pizza, pasta, up to four meats, veg, salad choice, and a carvery.
The sweet choice - I don’t have enough room to tell you what was on the sweet menu, everything. Unfortunately there isn’t much choice for children. The evening entertainment (Animation) team were very good. Although they weren’t singers they played out various musical themes and it was quite entertaining.
Most of the animation team spoke very good English watch out for Ivo, Ivan, Slavi and Svetlo four of the animation team GREAT guys. There’s also some good-looking girls. Oh yes one other thing the indoor pool is FREEZING! We’ve booked to go back next year, can’t wait.

We booked the holiday in Dec.
After the second half of the deposit was paid the flight times changed, they were put back by three hours. Which meant we arrived back in U.K. at 4.30,which meant taking an extra day off work.
After the final payment was made and 2 weeks before departure, we received a phone call informing us of a change of hotel. This was due to building works taking place on three sides of the hotel. We were not given any choices. We were told confirmation would arrive in the post. Nothing arrived not even the tickets! After more phone calls, we were informed to collect the tickets at the airport.
The first thing we were told when we arrived was that the Rep was not really a rep, but an entertainer, and they would do their best.
At the meeting with the rep the next morning, we were given the usual trip information and nothing else. There were several other families in the same position as us. And the reps were overwhelmed with the complaints.
I asked were the nearest ATM cash machine was - she didn’t know. Whenever anyone asked her anything, she didn’t know because she was really an entertainer, this was her stock answer to almost everything! They gave no information on local markets, buses, or local culture, etc. There wasn’t even a Holiday direct information book. We used the Thomas Cook one to find out everything.
Everyday there were at least three people waiting to fill in complaint forms. One lady waited three days before she could get a form filled in.
We did not fill in the complaints form. I did not go on holiday to sit in a que.
The hotel was fine, although there was a shortage of sunbeds around the pool, unless you got up early and put your towel out.
The original Hotel was Fiesta Park, which is almost on the beach. The hotel we got was a good walk away from the beach, and the sunbeds cost 18 levs. per day (£3.50 appx) something else the reps didn’t know about or if they did , they didn’t tell anyone.
Those who managed to que and complain were offered compensation of £40 plus a free trip.
As far as we are concerned this was not the holiday we booked.
The flight was different
The hotel was different, and not a beach holiday.
The tickets didn’t arrive.
We will not be travelling with holidays direct again.

Hotel nice, just a few mins from beach. Thomas cook only have 30 rooms in this hotel, so hence every thing was based on the Germans who were there. The food was good if you were German, not so good for us English. Entertainment not brilliant for children, and none at all for older people in the hotel so you needed to go out every evening. I found sunny beach too much like Blackpool, only hotter. Won’t go back

Monday 2nd august 2004 - Tuesday 17th august 2004 two adults-1 child 6 yrs - Iberostar tiara beach-sunny beach-excellent hotel.
After reading, some reviews for Bulgaria went with open mind.
Airport needs to be updated-long queues as manually operated.
Country is beautiful/people very friendly.
Hotel is spotless, lovely pool also for little uns.
Jeep safari brilliant fun. Only three English with German party only drivers spoke English but by end of day, we were all happy/drunk and playing party games, nationality did not come into it. Not far from beach-so cheap is you decide to eat out bearing in mind 2.7 Bulgarian levs to our 1.00- less than 50pence for large beer. If you decide to eat out 'brothers' next to tiara excellent value - or try 'the old house' even better say hello to Aschem for us (owners son) we had 3 starters/main meal/beers/Malibu/coffees/soda for 41 levs £15.00
Small train outside hotel to centre and wow what an eye opener had no idea Bulgaria was like this, pubs/restaurants, bungee jumps, candy floss, hotels, beautiful beach/copies Reebok/diesels 20 - 30levs. Shoes so cheap. Game boy advance 20 up to 50 levs being 30.00 sterling here.
Brilliant resort for young and old.
Try it before it goes into Europe 2007 could not be beat on price.
Were originally mainly German resort but English now coming in second ahead of Russians and Dutch.
Already looking for 2005
Definitely, recommend it

On arrival early hours in the morning, we were asked if we would like an apartment for all of us, our first thought was we were been cond by them as we booked 2 seperate rooms. We explained that we booked two seperate rooms, one twin & one room for a single person. She gave us the keys for our accommodation. The rooms were spacious & the bathroom was adequate, only thing was when had shower the bathroom became steamy & hot with no ventalation for when you have a warm shower. Air condition was a bonus. We had a mini bar in our room with drinks you could purchase. IT was topped up each day. The cleaners did a good job of cleaning & making our bed. They even made nice decorations on our bed.
The buffet breakfast was a variety of English & German food, free hot/cold drinks. The whole tables were had to find one that had knifes/forks/spoons etc.... majority of time had to pinch some from another table!!! The waiters rushed you to get to your empty plate/bowl to swipe it away. I thought this was rather rude as they reached out to get them before you could even have time to settle your breakfast or tea. The Hotel was mainly German origion. It was good when we heard some Scottish & English holiday makers there for a change.
The buffet tea was basic cold starters/hot meals/desserts. The only thing we felt ripped off was having to pay for your drinks!!! Just as experienced at breakfast they were fast to get your empty plates whilst all you wanted is 2nd helpings. They didn't even replace forks/knifes/spoons. You had to pinch them off another table.
The staff at hotel were fine. We met 3 people who spoke good English. The hotel had a sauna, massarge room, gym & swimming pool. Internet service was available.
Hotel situation was close to beach & in a less noisey area. The outdoor pool was nice & big. Excursions we went were: jeep safari, yachting, solozopol & Nessebar. Now a tip if going to Nessebar dont get taxi they rip you off!!!! Cost 50 levs return whereas on bus 1 lev each way each person. Bus stop is on main street. Go straight out of hotel from where they dropped you off, turn left then right by a shop, continue on street then you hit main road to nessebar, cross road then you can see bus stop.
Excursions were good, you got lunch included in them too!!!
