Holiday Inn Key Largo Hotel

Looks can be deceiving. The hotel's exterior looks average and somewhat old fashioned; however, the rooms are very nice, clean and appear to be recently renovated. Rooms have nice pillows and linens, and Neutrogena bath products which where superb! Staff were friendly enough - pool area is really nice and the hot tub was actually hot! We stayed here in January 2005, having got a good deal online. The price was very reasonable for the location. We didnt spend much time in the hotel, but used it as a base for exploring the Keys. The pool looked nice, but we didnt use it. The pool bar was pleasant. There was live music on, but our room was at the back of the hotel (carpark view), so the noise was not a problem. Stayed for just one night in August - that was enough! The guy on check in did absolutely nothing to make us feel welcome, merely handed us the key and pointed to the room's location on a map. The room overlooking the marina was average at best with the typically noisy Holiday Inn a/c unit. The whole complex seemed tired and in need of renovation. We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Key Largo, Florida from July 31 - August 7. This was our second visit to the hotel, and I must say, we were equally as impressed as we were the first time. The rooms are in good shape and are clean. The air conditioner worked great: a big plus in the Keys! Bogie's was good, although we got a bit tired of seeing the same items on the breakfast buffet each morning (a little more variety would have been nice). What a great place to stay for a week of vacation. First we arrived at the Hotel at 9:00 a.m. and much to our surprize where able to check into our room. The weather wasgreat so we headed to the pool where we met Bruce the pool attendent. There to insure only hotel guests use the pool. Nice touch. Stayed 5 nights and wanted to stay longer all the staff we came in contact with where just great. Even the General Manager was helping out in the dining room. Rooms just renovated clean as could be. We chose this hotel because we read all the good reviews here. But we were a little disappointed. We had prepaid and got a room to the parking lot - it seemed you had better chances to get a seaside view room if you just walked in. The front desk guy seemed a little lost as we had to say everything twice. As it turned out we were lucky to have this room because they started loud live music at the pool in the early afternoon that didn't stop until after dinner. Stayed at the Holiday Inn one year ago and had a very enjoyable stay. Only one problem was malfunctioning air conditioner. Management apologized, quickly upgraded room, and had staff transport luggage to new room. Stayed June 28 - July 1, 2005 with very different results. Had problems beginning with reservation process - end of stay. Reservation was confirmed for four nights. We checked reservation before leaving and Holiday Inn only had one night confirmed. Booked 2 nights here for my wife & mself on the basis of these reviews & just don't get what's so good. The hotel itself is OK but nothing special, the pool was OK the staff were OK but after 4 days in Key West at the Almond Tree we were expecting more from the Holiday Inn & were very disppointed with Key Largo as it has no centre just a highway of hotels, gas stations & restaurants it could have been anywhere.

We stayed for 2 nights and wish we had more. Pool area was great! We had a marine view room which was clean and very nice. We would recomend this hotel to anyone.

What a great hotel. We started our stay in Florida here, couldn't have been nicer. I like a warm pool and this fit the bill for me. Being next to the marina makes it easy to book water trips. The rooms are a little dated but the price and cleanliness even it out. A definite keeper.
