Aparthotel Esmeraldas

This was one of the best holidays I have been on in Spain. The location is perfect for the beach with supermarkets nearby. The staff were very friendly and always happy to help and the room was great for a couple. There were lots of activities on offer and I would definitely recommend the Medievil night if you fancy something different with great food and lots of free wine. The pool isnt the biggest but it was big enough for the amount of people who stayed there. I would recommend asking for a room on the pool side as we had the sun from 6am-8pm everyday and the view was nice. The food was great and cheaply priced, with lots of restaurants nearby, although we did notice alot of the menus were quite similar - seafood and pizza/pasta dishes. Also, we had a TV with BBC 1 so we got to watch Match of the day! 10/10 for esmereldas.

we wentt last year for a week, it was that good that we have booked to go this year for two weeks . it was great holiday , loads to do all the timee and it is right near the beach and shops which is good! cant waitt to go again ...

just came back from this hotel had lovley stay there very clean very nice staff especially the bar staff only one dissapointment the pool was bit on small side but wouldnt put me off going again.

Esmeraldas Aparthotel, Tossa De Mar, Spain
I've been meaning to write this review for ages!! This fun packed hotel is great for families with children of all sorts of ages. We spent a lot of the time around the pool (which has a bit just for the kids) but also walked to the beach too. We secured a great deal with www.clubclassconcierge.com who bent over backwards making sure there was a car at the airport etc. I highly reccommend this hotel if you have kids as the entertainment for them was great. So good in fact that I read 3 books whilst there, normally the kids don't allow me time to breathe! Thanks Club Class Concierge for helping us find such a great hotel and thanks to all the staff at Esmeraldas, especially pool side bartender Miguel - beware of his tequila sunrises!! :)

We were expecting very little from this hotel as we had read lots of negative reviews. We actually had a fantastic holiday. Our three kids were entertained from morning to night by Yana who was excellent. She had a great relationship with the children and adults. The room was very clean and much better than expected. The airconditioning was great! I would point out that the pool area is quite small but we were always able to get a sunbed and never felt uncomfortable with the amount of pople. We would love to return next year.

My partner and I stayed here for 1 week, we are both 20 years old. My first impressions of this apartment was "oh no, it's awful" I felt cheated by Thomas Cook and the pictures available. The main reception and bar area of the apartments were very nice and modern, however the hall ways were like easy jet cruise ships (if you go you will see what I mean). The rooms were Ok but just not what I expected. The kitchen did not look like the ones in the pictures, thought they were going to be modern. The patio doors safety lock on the living area was broken and a flimsy catch was all that was keeping it "locked". The worst thing about the rooms was the VERY thin walls. Trying to sleep was a nightmare, could hear every word and movement of other people. The pool is also not as it looked in the pictures. The pool is TINY compared to the amount of apartments and very little sunbeds and space. It was always full around the pool and we didn't ever get to be by it (not that we would have wanted to - too many children and English!). Also on our last day the water started to run brown and staff were very unhelpful, had to go without a shower. We were also left without a room from 11am - 2am on our last day with no secure place to keep suitcase, passports etc. Thomas Cook rep was very unhelpful and was not listening to our request for her to advise us of a cheap hotel to stay in for the day/evening. We were very angry about being out of the room for this day as it meant we had paid for 7 nights but only got 6 nights of accommodation, ended up spending 50 euros on a room in another hotel. Also the hotel was only rated 2 star when you got there but Thomas Cook claim it to be 3 star.
Having said this, we quite enjoyed the resort of Tossa de Mar. It has lovely local housing and a lot of history, castle and churches etc. The restaurants up near the castle were lovely and you can get some great meal deals. The only thing we disliked about the resort was that it was very touristy.

Overall the hotel is not bad, food very good, staff are helpful and accomodation is ok, on the negative side walls very thin and pool to busy at times to use! tossa itself is ideal for families and older couples, if your young and want good clubs, entertainment etc go to lloret, but most certainly for families its a ideal place to go..

Me and seven other ladies stayed here on a girlie holiday. Got to admit would not recommend for young girls looking for a mad party holiday. But was lovely hotel for families; the food was great, the entertainment was good for the kids, and Tossa its self is very Spanish. It was a lovely relaxing place and I would take my children there. Especially for the price you pay to stay there.

We read negative reviews about the apartments before we went, so we were not very excited about the holiday. What a mistake. We had a really great holiday.
The apartments were clean and well kept, maids swept floors etc nearly every day, clean towels 3 times during the week - no complaints. The public areas were also well kept and clean the bar was very roomy, swimming pool kept spotless, etc.
The nightly entertainment was good, but the entertainment for the children (ours aged 5 and 2.5) was excellent, there was an entertainer on each day, for most of the day and the children had a mini-disco nightly, they had a ball. The staff at the apartments were very, very friendly and helpful, nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
Tossa de Mar is a lovely town, the beach wasn't very nice for kids a bit shingley but you could catch a boat/bus to most of the local towns which had nice beaches, other than that a great place to go. The apartments were in a quiet residential area (great with kids), but only 5 minutes walk from everything.
Just wished we'd booked for longer than a week, would definitely go back.
