Hotel Description:

Situated on the famous Baga Beach in north Goa, the Colonia Santa Maria offers simple Goan accommodation and warm hospitality. A great location for those wanting to be close to the bars and restaurants of Baga, the market at Anjuna and the Saturday night bazaar, it's a firm favourite with repeat clients. Standard rooms are simply furnished with a double or twin beds, sitting area, fridge, ceiling fan and bathroom with shower. Air-conditioning, payable locally, costs approximately Rps 400 per day. Rooms are set in 23 village style cottages spread across the gardens.

Good location in Baga, relatively quiet road - make sure you get a room away from main reception - either by the pool or heading down towards the sea - our room was opposite reception needed some TLC, very tired looking.

The area is very basic, as expected, but this is compensated by the fact the locals are the most friendliest people you will ever care to meet.

The restaurants are good and very, very cheap, especially good was 39 steps.

The general area is surrounded by dogs roaming loose who bark all night and foul all around the complex. The staff do not clear it up even when asked.
