" magical holiday "

The stellina was rated as a 2 star hotel and close to the airport. We weren't expecting much! What we found was a lovely, welcomimg hotel with basic but very clean rooms, wonderful staff and an ideal location, close to the town (15 mins walk). It was my birthday whilst there and the fantastic girls on reception organised flowers on behalf of my husband.
The swimming pool at the stellina was the largest in the town and the surounding pool area was lovely.
We explored most of the island and found all of it enchanting and left us with a desire to return. The food is to die for. We enjoyed the holiday so much that we returned in September with friends, again staying at the Stellina and had another marvellous holiday.
We will return - we have found a place we love!

Advice: Beautiful

Activities: windmill restaurant, eleni beach, kanapitsa beach and Kastro

Good for: Beach

" Fab Holiday! "

Just got back from a week in Skiathos staying at The Hotel Stellina. The hotel is basic but clean and the staff are really friendly espcially the two girls on reception. The pool is great and really deep and is great to use to cool off, the area around the pool could be a made a little more welcoming and this is reflected in that most guests seem to stay away dueing the day. The breakfast was ok - Breead, biscuits, orange juice, cerealanmd best of all tea and coffee, dont expect a full english! Our room overlooked the lovely gardens was adequate for our needs - we've travelled in greece before and this was a great experience.
Skiathos town is one of the nicest places we have travelled too, you can find lots of places to eat and drink and just watch the world go by - take a water taxi to one of the many lovely beaches that are dotted around the island.
We would recommend the Stellina if you want to sample typical greek hospitality and the hotel is only a 10 / 15 minute walk to the centre of hte town and even better the transfer from the airpor is litrally 5mins.

Advice: A classy, realxing romantic place to visit

Activities: Definitley Kookinaris Beach

Good for: Beach

" ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT "

the hotel is located within about 2 minutes of airport so very convient this is not a problem, has probably one of the best gardened areas and pool surroundings on island. rooms are as you would expect after many years of visiting greek islands basic but fairly clean.breakfast never varied throughout our stay a mere pittance apart from one day when tour operatives visited.poolside snackbar stocked nothing not even ice cream, bar was never open our entire stay.staff were all bright and cheerful apart from BASIL FAWLTY the owner who certainly needs to review what is required by the average holiday maker nothing flash just what you would expect anywhere else.als the hotel needs to review its obligation to its patrons regarding the amount of feral cats scavenging its grounds. this may appear to be a negative review but i can assure you we had a cracking holiday and the amount that is on offer a mere mile or so into town more than compensates for this.and the island in general is so picturesque.

Advice: quaint and quirky with its narrow cobbled streets which are vibrant & maze like

Activities: too numerous to mention as your spoilt for choice

Good for: Beach

" It was our first time in Skiathos and... "

It was our first time in Skiathos and we stayed in the Stellina. The transfer from the airport was literally 2 minutes. The hotel was fine, just the standard you would expect in Greece. Very clean and the maids were lovely. The breakfast was basic; dry bread, jam, butter, fake cocoa pops and cornflakes, tea, coffee and orange juice.

Although the pool bar was packed at breakfast time, guests tended to spend the day away from the hotel. The hotel was predominantley full of Greek guests. We had the pool to ourselves the first week until more British guests arrived in the second who spent more time around the pool.

The hotel rooftop bar was excellent for a drink before hitting the town. The barman Akhmed couldn't be more helpful. Although his English wasn't excellent, he always had a smile on his face and would have your 'usual' ready as soon as he saw you. The views from here of the planes landing and taking off is worth watching.

It was quite a walk to the harbour, although not really far enough to justify a taxi. The nearest supermarket was a good 5 minute walk. The route to the harbour lacked footpaths in places and the roads were hazardous, I wouldn't reccommend walking with small children.

Skiathos was lovely. The harbour is beautiful and well worth the visit to Skiathos town. If you are looking for a resort that mainly caters for the British you will be disappointed. The resort is very popular with Greeks, Italians, Scandinavians etc. Club strip is very expensive and over-rated. It is full of Europeans who do not dance and there is no atmosphere. The drinks are very expensive and it is not worth the visit.

Having said that there are some lovely British bars in Skiathos Town. King & Queens bar is great. The owners Caz and Phil are so welcoming and giant jenga is worth a go...although the 'death charges' are a killer! The Kasbar is also worth a visit. Destiny Bar (although not a British Bar) is well worth a visit in the early hours. Although it is a gay couple who own it (they swear it is not a "gay bar"), we only ever met one of them, he was lovely. The music was great and it was far better than going to club strip. The Rooftop bar is excellent. Although we only discovered this towards the end of our holiday it was great. The couple who own it are lovely. The British bars tend to be cheaper and the owners will give you any advice you need regarding your holiday and will tell you where to go.

The tavernas and restaurants are all very much the same. The Garden of the East is the islands only Chinese restaurant and it was absolutely excellent. There are some lovely Italians, especially Aristona. The Tapas Bar is a must. Although slightly pricey, the food and wine was gorgeous and the views across the harbour are breathtaking.

Overall we had a great time in Skiathos. I would not reccommend it to young groups looking for a lively, cheap holiday. Skiathos Town is ideal for older couples looking for a romantic and cosmopolitan holiday.

" Just back beautiful island. The... "

Just back beautiful island. The Stellina Hotel well what can I say its clean. The owner is called Grumpy George or Basil but dont worry he won't speak to you if you see him at all. We didn't spend much time in hotel other than to sleep because there just didnt seem to be any atmosphere.
No kettle in room. No hairdryer or iron available.
Location is good nice walk into town taxi will cost you €3. Old harbour is beautiful. Town is a maze fantastic views well worth the climb up to the clock tower.
Drinks can be expensive down on the new harbour where the night clubs are €10 for a Bailey's.
All in all good holiday very relaxing went by to quickly as usual.

" The Stellina Hotel is close to the... "

The Stellina Hotel is close to the airport, you can watch the planes landing and taking off from the balcony of the top floor. Although the rooms are very basic, they are very clean.

The rooms get cleaned every day and the bed linen and towels changed every 3 days. The breakfast is very very basic, you get cereal, juice, tea/coffee and bread and butter, but the bar meals from the pool bar are very nice - especially the salads. The pool area is very clean including the pool. There are plenty of sunbeds but only a few parasols. The town is about a 20 min stroll away with a bus stop and supermarket 5 minutes walk away.

Although the hotel is very basic, it is very clean. I would recommend anyone who likes tea and coffee to bring there own kettle and tea bags and coffee and cups. You do get a fridge in the room.

" I booked my holiday through Travel... "

I booked my holiday through Travel Republic online, and I have to say that it was faultless, I am always a little wary about booking online but the flight hotel and resort was exactly as they described.

The hotel was excellent value for money very clean, very, very friendly staff great relaxing pool area and 5 minute walk to Skiathos town ~ 5 minutes walk to the bus stop which can take you to every stop on the route in less than 40 minutes ~ well worth exploring the fantastic beaches ~ could not be more Greek, crystal clear water and beautiful clean sandy beaches shelving gently into the sea ... Ah I'm almost back there !.

Take a boat trip around the island Lalaria beach ~ sea is breathtaking and the rest of the beaches are just fantastic.

But there is far more to Skiathos than beaches , beautiful town, great bars and excellent food very chic bars and also just cosy relaxing bars. One of the best holidays ever!

" The hotel Stellina is located very... "

The hotel Stellina is located very close to the airport. This caused us no problems at all, and if anything was convenient! The hotel it's self provides basic accommodation, we found that our room did not contain a fridge whereas others did, you generally have to ask if you want any perks!! The staff could have been friendlier, I think they seem to tolerate the British tourist!!! It is quite a trek to the nearest beach and a good ten minute walk into town, where you have to avoid being run over!!! Overall a clean, basic hotel with a lovely pool!
