Both myself and my partner had a wonderful time in September 2008. Our room was a duplex with an open plan apartment with barn style staircase leading up to a further three single beds on a mezzanine with a cool loft window.
Not too much of a night life if you are used to all night clubbing but a strip of taverna's that you can stay in until you drop.
You can even stay local if you don't fancy the Delhi type bus to Skiathos town but the open air cinema and maze of streets make the journey worth it.
You can even spot the scenes at the harbour and around town where they filmed the film Mamma Mia. No signs of Frida or Agnetha tho, My My......
There's even a solarium if the weather is crap, 12 euro's for 20 mins, but.
- Advice: If you are happy with a bit of walking you'll love it. Lou and Andy should avoid it
- Activities: Captain Mikaels and Stamros Taverna. Yamas I say

Myself and my girfriend (both 19) spent a week at the myrtia 3 weeks ago, and are already thinking about going back next year. the rooms were regularly cleaned and the pool bar staff were very friendly and spoke very good english. the walk to the main road is no where near as bad as some people have said, and takes literally 4/5 mins. the bus service into town was regular and on time and the golden sand beach is no longer than ten mins away. would highly recommend this resort for any age group.

What a relief! we went back to the Myrtia for a second time and was worried that standards would have dropped, thankfully all was well. The accomodation was as basic as last year but anyone who has been to greece before knows what to expect. The food at the restaurant on the complex was under new management but the standard was still exceptional with visitors from other hotels eating here most nights. The pool is exceptionally clean and they are obssesive about keeping it that way. You may have read some fearful reports about the long dark walk back to the complex, along the dirt-track through the trees but as long as you have a torch you are fine, we have two boys aged 5 & 7 at the time and they found this part of the evening very exciting as you can hear the crickets. The bus service is great, really regular and mega cheap, don't bother to hire a car as you can get to most places by bus. The bus takes you from just outside the complex right into town where you can check out the port while sipping a chilled coffee. The children were welcomed everywhere we went (two beautiful blonde boys) and would love to go again in a few years as there is not all that much for the boys to do in the evenings.

We've just returned from a fantastic break at the Myrtia. The apartments are spotlessly clean and were regularly cleaned throughout our stay, along with fresh towels and bedlinen every other day. All the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming - a special thanks to 'V' at the pool bar for being so wonderful with our 3 yr old son.
The apartment blocks house around 8 - 10 apartments each and are set in gorgeous mature gardens with lots of interesting shady places to sit, on your own or in groups, reading a book, playing cards, whatever. The whole place is really thoughtfully laid out. There are lots of steps however, so it won't suit the infirm or those with a pushchair and no desire to haul it about - we managed with ours as the guests and the staff came running to help if they ever saw us struggling with it.
The pool's an excellent size for the size of the complex, with a decent sized children's area, and loads of pool toys like lilos and floats to borrow. Plenty of umbrellas, a great bar and okayish daytime bar menu, but spectacularly good evening taverna menu.
The Myrtia is along around 0.6km track - take a decent torch - but unless you're very lazy or very infirm you'll have no problems strolling along it as it's through a pine wood so it's lovely and shady. It took us around 10 - 12 minutes to walk it with a pram and toddler, then it's another 10 mins or so to the start of Koukounaries beach, which is great.
All in all, the Myrtia more than met my expectations and combined with the lovely garden layout, spacious (if simple) rooms and friendly staff, we would most definitely return.

Very quite location in wooded area yet only 3/400 mtrs to village restaurants/super market and about 800mtrs to Koukanaries beach though you do not need to walk to restaurants as the best one is at the Myrtia !!
Wonderful food and great service.
Rooms cleaned daily. Happy and helpful staff. Though we did not travel with children this is a really good and safe place for kids.
This is good 3* accommodation. Bus to Skiathos town every 20 mins 1.5 Euros taxi to airport 20 Euros. We had a really good week.

Myrtia is the best holiday I have ever been on. The rooms are cleaned everyday, there is a safe and air conditioning unit you can buy for a very good price at reception. The pool was big and right next to the bar. Sunbeds are not limited, but in the rare occasion there is not one there you can ask at the bar and they will get some out for you. There is a ping pong table and a tennis courts that can also be used to play football as it has a goal (this is all very good for the children). The bar staff there are friendly and easy to talk to, spiros and his two sons Bill and Leo (who are too good at football and ping pong!)and maria. The food at Myrtia is all amazing and there's a wide variety at very good price. Children's meals are only 4 euro and most adults meals around 6,7-8 euros. We were in Self-Catering so in the morning before it got hot we took a 5-10 minute walk to the supermarket. They do a big range of lovely cocktails including non-alcoholic children's ones. Greek night and Quiz night at Myrtia are so much fun with the professional dancers and Traditional Greek music then some more modern English music. Skiathos town is a very very nice place with an old harbor and a new one, with some amazing restaurants some next to the sea which were very nice and I have to say I did not have one bad meal the whole time I was on holiday. Many trips were also available. Overall as a family of 8, 4 children, four adults we thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be returning next year.
