As the popular commercial says...just do it..my family was a bit hesitant to book with the Tropikist after reading some of the reviews on some of the other sites (like tripadvisor) but once we checked out all the other review sites the reviews weren't half bad, so we... more

I have decided to write a review on Tropikist as this is one of those quaint family type hotels that are usually taken advantage of. To begin with yes the place is run down and requires a desperate paint job, the owners needs to pump some money into this hotel. That aside... more

I took my family on a short vacation, very short vacation to Tobago and we decided on staying at the Tropikist as their packages being offered for this period was really a steal of a deal and so we were sold on it. When we arrived we were informed that check in time was 3pm... more

I would try to be as honest and consutructive as I can with my review. Firstly , we stayed 14 nights all-inclusive at the Tropikist, and I must tell you, we were worried that staying 14 nights would be a bore after reading some of the reviews of the hotel, but it turned out... more

Well where to begin, first let me say avoid this hotel at all costs..now let me explain why..this hotel lacks management, hence the reason it is in such turmoil..the roomo we had was very spacious and large. we received one of thos family sized rooms on the top floor, which... more

love the tropikist
myself and girlfriend recently visited the tropikist, and after reading the reviews were worried. but on arrival were suprised by the standard of service we recieved by the management and staff, they were fantastic, helpful and overall a good laugh. The food was great, but choice was limited after a week all inclusive we decided to eat out and found that the local restaurants had the same menu as the hotel. I have to admit the bar did run out of local larger (we drank them dry) but then offered us hiniken for free. We have no complaint... more
No complaints at all!
I recently stayed at the Tropikist hotel with my boyfriend and we both were slightly wary because of the reviews, but I have to admit that we came out very impressed and we will definitely be staying there again on our return to Tobago. I do agree there was not much menu variety on any one night, but the overall service and the friendliness of the staff is highly commendable. Overall, great value for money I think. Location is excellent and the rooms, pool and garden are very well kept.
go some were else.
i was there with my wife and son and for a 3 star its a joke. the food and drinks were terrible. the service should be better. all i can say is if u go make sure its room only. ps the locals call it as the hotel with NO SERVICE.
Brilliant loved every minute
I have just come back from the Tropikist Hotel in Tobago after having an absoulutely brilliant time there. There has just been a change in managment and staff and the hotel is running very well. The all-inclusive was wonderful and presented beautifully. The staff were ever so obliging and tended to our every need. This is a wonderful hotel which deserves so many guests as it is wondeful. There has a been a lot of criticism that no longer applies to tis excellent hotel. I would most certainley go back again because I truly loved it.
Lots of potential but badly managed
Having just returned from the Tropikist my advise to other holiday makers is don't stay there on an all inclusive basis as the food is monotonous and of poor quality. I have never stayed in a hotel where they run out of so many things on a daily basis...in 2 weeks they frequently ran out of basics such as Coca cola, fruit juices of all varieties, bannanas (in the caribbean!!!!!), jam, ice cream etc,. The list was endless and if you ate too late they had usually run out of one of the very limited options on the menu in the evening. The island... more
Tropi-kiss my ---!!!!!!
Tropikist has great hotel but the staff are TERRIBLE! As a Trini, I am always happy to take my friends from abroad to Tobago as I believe that the beaches there are better and by default, the hotels. However, last year when I took some American university friends there, I felt like I put my foot in my mouth. The room was great, the grounds, the pool and the little beach ( which, mind u, is pretty pebbly and rocky so don't go swimming- yuh will get cut up!) was great addition to the ambiance. However, anything that had to do with personnel... more
Loved it perfect location.
This was cheaper than some of the hotels on the island, but it was perfect for what we wanted it was set in the perfect location near the airport, & all the nice restuarants, although located near the airport this was not a problem you couldn't hear the planes. The room was good beds made and room cleaned every day with fresh towels, room located next to the poole so if you want that early morning dip a few steps and your there. After travelling around the island it was deffinately one of the nicest situated hotels, we spent most early... more
very comfortable stay at the Tropikist
We found the hotel very pleasant. Wouldn't go with the meal plan, though. There are to many reasonable places to eat around there to enjoy. Also found if we could get to Trinidad there are at least five commuter flights to Tobago. Our disappointment was, we didn't use our airline with our frequent flyer miles because we didn't know about the small hop flights which are only about $30.00 USD each way. The island itself we felt was safe, day or night. Friendly and helpful. Yes we will go back.
A pleasant experience
I stayed on my own at the Tropikist in December 2002 for a week. My husband and I are returning together in April this year after an impressive stay. The rooms were large and cleaned on a daily basis with plenty of hot water and an efficient air conditioning unit. The pool area was clean and quiet with brilliant views of the bays. All the members of staff that I spoke to were friendly annd accommodating. We are returning to a superior room as we would like to have a sea view. Although I did stay on a bed and breakfast basis my only... more
Tropikist Madness
2 weeks at a hotel called the Tropikist in Tobago - bliss you would think, but how wrong you would be. From the moment you arrive after a long flight your in for rudeness and abuse but thats just the start. When you complain about the cold food, the 2 hour wait for dinner, the dirty dishes at breakfast, the lack of breakfast and if your on an all inclusive package being told off for ordering a second sandwich for lunch, you really are in for a shock. Because the directors answer to this is to swear at you, call you a drug pusher and order... more
