We have just got back from the E & S...
The room we had was in the spa side was very clean & spacious
the staff were so friendly entertainment was great good location
will definatley go back to Barbados & hope to stay at the E & S again
can't wait to see the renovation that is planned for this spring
The only down side to the hotel was the beach towels ( Very worn, falling apart ).
Also lack of information about the hotel when we first arrived.
Apart from that i would recommend it..
PS.. Children could get bored.

This hotel is in serious need of upgrading upon our arrival the shower was broken, the loo constantly flushing, the hairdryer was broken, the tiles were mouldy and the electricity had blown a fuse!! Not a good start, it did not get better, the jacuzzi pool had no jets and the steam room was out or order. The staff were really nice.

My husband booked our honeymoon as a suprise!!
I had no idea at all where we were going and i have to say it was the best honeymoon anyone could ever wish for!!!!!!
If your looking for a beautiful island and a fantastic hotel then look no further.
The hotel blow's you away before you have even walked through to reception.
The hotel its self is beautiful. The staff great. The food gorgeous, ive never eaten so much! Dont expect to much in the way of evening entertainment but after a heavy day of doing nothing who wants to party the night away!!!!!!!
I could go on and on and on about what a fantastic place it is but im not going to, go and find out yourself, you wont regret it!!!!!!!
We will definitely be going back.

my husband and i went to the escape and spa as part of our honeymoon. i have to say that the hotel was just perfect!
i tend to read all the reviews before i book a hotel and no matter how much i research it i always seem to be disappointed....but not here!
the food was fab! your eggs were cooked to order as you waited and no disgusting soggy bacon swimming in grease for breakfast! we didnt miss a single meal!
the staff were really friendly and couldnt do enough for you, and david the jewelry guy was happy to make all my souviners to take home to my friends.
we stayed in one of the garden rooms which i would really recommend as this area had been recently build on (maybe a few yrs ago) and seemed much fresher than some of the rooms in the main hotel. our room was spotless and our house keeper pauline was so friendly and always happy to help.
the hotel is located on the beach and includes all free non motorised sports including snorkeling equipment and wind surfing, the hotel also provide a free catermaran to see giant turtles and a ship wreck but i would definatly recommend doing a tami cruise as the boat is an experience in its self!
i would definatly go back!

What a fabulous place to go. My family and I went in March last year for my parents silver wedding anniversary and renewal of vowes. The people are fantastic and make you feel incrediably welcome. We all enjoyed it so much we are going back this september as my sister has decided it is the perfect place to be married.
All my praises to the hotel staff and locals and best wishes to my sister and her soon to be husband.

We have just come back from a...

May 2008, Mr Keith Barber

We have just come back from a fabulous holiday (22nd to 29th April) at the Escape Hotel & Spa. I booked this via the telephone with Virgin Holidays to keep it a secret from my wife as a surprise to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary. Virgin made it simple and a pleasure to book this way and all at their Crawley office staff were so helpful.
Once we got to the resort the staff were brilliant and the holiday just got better and better. Any bad reviews you may read are obviously made by people that just love to complain. They even upgraded us to a Spa room at no extra charge. The idea of booking meal times I found was a great idea, the kitchens / chefs then know how many they are catering for at any given time and therefore the food is both freshly cooked and always good quality, the Garden Restaurant is especially good. On our last night the staff even decorated our dining table with balloons, banners and confetti and presented us with champagne, not bad eh !
If you want a great holiday with lovely people and great food, decent entertainment, breathtaking views from the Seascape bar and beautiful weather then this is the place for you. I was told while we were there that no other bookings are being taken after April 2009 for a 6 month refurbishment of the main building ? If this is so I really do hope that they do not take away some of the character of the place, this would be a great shame. My wife and I are not people who book the same holiday hotel / resort year after year but I would have no hesitation in going back to Espace Hotel & Spa in a few years time but this time for at least 10 days as 7 is just not enough !!!!!!! Great for couples, not really for children at all though and ages ranged from newly weds to, well lets say the older generation.

Myself and my partner have just returned from our 2 week all inc holiday on the Escape Hotel and Spa in Barbados.
I have to admit I am horrified at some of the negative comments about the hotel, particularly the ones against the staff. Having spent numerous holidays in 5 star hotels in the canaries and barely getting a civil word out of most of the staff, in contrast, the staff at Escape were amazing. None of them were the slightest bit unfriendly and no matter how busy they were, they always had a minute to stand and have a chat or share a joke with you.
One of the resturant staff offered to accompany us to bridgetown as we kept getting lost, and a member of the bar staff when realising we were unable to get ahold of a taxi-gave us a lift to the local garage and back whilst on his break. Most remembered us by name and indeed we have remained in touch with a few of them.
We were staying in a standard room in one of the villas. The rooms are throughly cleaned daily. Actually the housekeeping were amazing. During the 1st week I came down with a cold and after realising that I eas too ill to leave the room one day we recieved a phone call from the housekeeping services enquiring when would we want our room cleaned as I was unwell. The time was arranged by me and I was extremly grateful.
In the main hotel there is a club room for the kids which includes 2 computers, a pool table, a Fußball table, big tv lots of big beanbags/giant cushions, LOTS of toys and a book shelf with new and old books for all ages and magazines. (we have a 2 year old daughter and although she wasnt with us this time, WHEN we return at least we will have peace of mind knowing there is plenty to do)
The tours were A+ easy to book and alot of fun to do. We went on the Virgin Ahoy which is the catamaran cruise with the turtles and shipwreck which was loads of fun. The triple delight included a trip to Harrisons Caves, A tour of the Mount Gay Rum Distillary and a sunset catamaran cruise. The jeep safari was also not to missed giving you a chance to see the island in much more breathtaking detail.
I could take a lot longer to describe our holiday simply because it was wonderful but at the end of the day I doubt you could find a nicer hotel with yummier food, friendlier staff or a nicer view.
Hope this helps!

We have recently come back from the Escape and Spa and had a fantastic time. We were a little worried by reading reviews but really had no need. I am soooo glad though we upgraded to the Spa rooms. There was a huge difference between the different sides of the hotel. Well worth the extra £110 or so each.
The staff were wonderful and we really couldn't have asked for more. Food was great - usual bunch of moaning minnies complaining about lack of chips! We had no problems and always had plenty of choice.
Would definately recommend and would go back in a flash!

We stayed at the Escape Hotel & Spa...

Jan 2008, Mrs D Clark

We stayed at the Escape Hotel & Spa for the first week of our honeymoon. The hotel was clean, the towels were changed everyday, beach towels provided, turndown service every evening, all round good hotel. The beach is just down the steps from the restaurant area. Free shuttle bus from reception to take you the 5 mins journey into Bridgetown for shopping.
We booked the catameran trip to swim with the turtles, they took us to see ship wrecks too. A trip not to be missed. Fantastic.

The only thing we were not happy with was they have a problem with birds in the dining area. Don't eat anything not covered up completely!!! the birds were landing in the pots without lids and bird droppings on backs of chairs. Not the hotels fault we know but thought more could be done to shoo them away from people eating.
We were ripped of by the tour operater by charging us 600 pounds more to upgrade to a deluxe room when on arriving at the hotel its only 240 pounds to upgrade there. So if you are willing to risk an upgrade being available do it there its cheaper.
Oh and if you are going on honeymoon, dont expect any perks or upgrades they dont seem to acknowledge honeymooners as anything special, staff were friendly enough though, maybe i was expecting too much with that one.

Nov 2007, Mrs J Ballard

A great hotel, friendly staff and excellent food (best we have encountered in Barbados).
Good Beach and Pool facilities although let down by the fact that the Steam Room was out of order for the whole of our visit and clean beach towels are not available every day
Not the place for children unless they are able to amuse themselves.
Rooms are clean and tidy, offering everything you need. Our deluxe room has a small bottle of Rum, Whiskey, and Vodka with a fridge that was replenished with soft drinks each day.
Entertainment 6 out of 7 nights, mostly excellent and steel band during Sunday Champagne lunch.
We will definitely visit again.

Jul 2007, Mr R & K Morrell

We came to this hotel for our honeymoon.
Our room was not ready when we arrived due to having some maintenance work done and we were put in a room in a villa style area which had its own private pool outside. However the room was grotty and we were not very happy! as we had booked the adults only area over the road from the main hotel.
The next day we complained and promised our room would be available after lunch. It was a little bit later than lunch when we were allowed to go in.
The room was nice and clean and overlooked the pool. We were compensated for our trouble with a bottle of champagne, a voucher to use in the spa for a treatment each (which later became very handy!) and another voucher for a bottle of champagne during our evening meal.
Overall the honeymoon was great and there are lots of excursions to do. Swimming with the turtles was an experience not to be missed.
The spa staff were great and our voucher was used for a treatment to relieve sunburnt skin which we had as a couple in the same room. I would recommend this to anyone with sore sunburnt skin but it's not for the faint hearted! it involves lots of ice.
The staff were very friendly and provided a room for you to use to change etc before your flight home.
