The Hotel Jacaranda lies at the quieter end of Playa de las Americas known as Costa Adeje. On arrival at the hotel very friendly reception staff greeted us and a porter took our cases up to our room. The hotel is a short stroll to the beach and there are numerous shops and bars within easy reach. The hotel rooms are very spacious and easily accommodated my family of four. I would recommend you request a high floor room if possible as they have a much pleasanter outlook then the lower floor rooms. The hotel is very large and the queues in the buffet style restaurant were sometimes quite long even though the evening meals were in two sittings. The food is good although some dishes did repeat on the menu during our two week stay. The hotel boasts a club, a piano bar and a couple of other bars, one of which holds a happy hour. The entertainment in the club was very poor, most nights it was staged by the hotels own animation team. The club is also waiter service and you had to wait rather a long time for a drink.

The hotel is very comfortable and in a reasonable position for the beach. The rooms are very pleasant, but the pool view was very limited, only the edge of the pool can be seen most of the view is sun beds. The pools are adequate but rather disappointing. The ground floor pools are very enclosed by buildings on all sides and in my opinion rather claustrophobic.
The overall feeling of the hotel is that it is most suitable for Europeans, as English people we felt very isolated. None of the entertainment staff spoke English, and did not try to include us in anything, if they did approach us (which weren’t very often) they’d say English? And walk straight past. One reason we booked this hotel was because we understood the entertainment during the day as well as the evening was superb, sadly (not if you were English) any children wishing to join the children’s mini club would find it very difficult to communicate with anyone. At no time were English people included in the activities, this was a very disappointing holiday.

Hotel looks absolutely stunning from the lobby, all marble and perfectly shining.
The pool areas look fantastic and the waterfall cascading over the all inclusive restaurant looks fab, but, if you want to look at the waterfall/pool in the day whilst sunbathing you will need to get up at at least 7am to ‘reserve’ the sun loungers. On arrival at the hotel you are kindly told not to reserve sun loungers and if you do the hotel reserves the right to remove your towel for someone else, fine, this never actually happened the whole two weeks that I was there and found myself getting up at 7am every morning to literally fight over the loungers!
Then, if you decide not to get up at 7am to reserve a lounger and want a lie in you have no chance because of the noise the cleaners make. They clean the rooms from 8.30am every morning, the noise they make whilst moving the beds and chairs is unbearably loud and even if you put the ‘do not disturb’ sign out they will still come in!
The hotel teams of reps -Spanish and Italian that is, who are all quite capable of speaking English which was fine, but at meal time we were greeted in to the dining area by these reps who would go round to the tables of the Spanish and Italian and see everything was ok -never us.
Also again, the hotel told the men not to wear shorts for the evening meal and to wear trousers, we over heard one of the reps ask a guest who was wearing shorts if they were Italian, to which he replied yes, and then told that it was was ok for him to wear the shorts (because he was Italian!)
This was the 3rd time that I have been to Tenerife as I love the Island and I will carry on going, but I will never go the Jacaranda again and will never recommend it!!

Having had a bad experience of Gran Canaries the previous year, (Our hotel was on the top of a very big mountain !) we were a bit suspicious of booking in Tenerife. Especially the lively resort on the island (We we’ve seen Club Reps uncut). But if it’s a last minute deal and you have to fly on a particular Friday (Half Term) after 3pm ! - your hands are tied.
We had one of the best holidays ever (and we go abroad about twice a year). Our five year old girl (who came down with chicken pox 8 days before and broke her arm eight days after !) had a brilliant time. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the rooms quiet, cool and dark - some morning none of us woke until gone ten - something that has NEVER happened at home or abroad. The 7 or 8 pools were cold but fun. The food was so nice we came home at least a stone heaver between us. The resort is just a nice size, and far away enough from the bright lights and cider drinkers. Ok lots of Digital Camera sellers (We brought a Game Boy) but not excessive and not 100's of African Looky Looky men. We struggled to find someone to do the compulsory hair braid. The local beach is Black sand and it gets very hot. Still I needed that Veruca to be burnt off... We did the non-Thomas Cook 5 hour whale and dolphin boat trip. Well worth the time and money. Emily, aged five you may remember, was impressed with the whales for about ten minutes, then exhibited the Cartoon Network generations symptom of wanting to see the Dolphins on demand. We never did find any - but enjoyed a swim in a lovely cove. We also discovered that Emily gets sea sick - the crew were brilliant and fed her flat 7Up which did the trick.
Close to the hotel is an entertainment park called Skypark. Uniquely it seems to cater for the 0-12's and the 18-28 age group, having as it does a brilliant children’s pool with climbing frames and water chutes, a warm proper pool and a series of Bungee extreme rides. We went twice. It was a good way to spend the last day after we were kicked out of the hotel.
One week was not enough - we will be back.

If you like other peoples kids and lots of them, then this is the place for you!
It appears as though the architect of this hotel qualified by designing prison cell blocks. The hotel consists of four sided galleried landings with watch towers at each corner enclosing a central exercise area largely protected from the sun. As you would expect the staff, with rare exceptions, never smile at the inmates.
The dining hall is about 100 yards long and for second sitting it resembles the Klondike gold rush to find a table. The food is not bad but the dining experience is not pleasant.
Wake early if you want a sun bed.
You have more chance of a drink in the Sahara than of attracting the attention of a waiter in the Piano Bar.
