Very disappointed in this holiday park. Looks very nice and in a lovely location however the Coach House we rented for a month needed upgrading. The kitchen was very poor in that there was hardly any utensils or equipment for self-catering. The undercounter fridge's icebox was not working and was fobbed off by the park manager who said it was a coolbox! The bathroom drains smell awful after a dry spell and you have to run the water to sort it and the shower looked very grubby. The last straw was our car tyres got slashed in the park's parking bay outside our apartment at the end of our stay which involved the police. However the park manager said the company wasn't responsible (despite the barrier had been broken for sometime but got repaired immediately) but offered us a free week as compensation. I have contacted him about this and he has not replied. Needless to say we will not be back.

Mar 2011, Browned-Off

We stayed in a Coach House for whole month of September 2010 which was booked through a local estate agent. A bit of confusion as to who was checking us in. Found the park manager about 9.30pm to report a terrible smell in one of the bathrooms and the TV was not working. He did sort the problems (the drains smell after a dry spell and just require running the taps for a few minutes). The holiday park is in a nice area and well kept however the Coach House we were in was clean enough but there was a lot of jobs which needed attention e.g. towel rails hanging off, shower cubical needed upgrading, windows dirty but the worst thing was the lack of kitchen utensils and equipment!(one oversized frying pan which had seen better days). The undercounter fridge was ancient and the icebox compartment was not working and when I spoke to the park manager about it he fobbed me off by saying it was a coolbox not a freezer!! To top off a nice stay in Courtown our car tryes got slashed in the parking bay outside our apartment. The manager came to tell us and the police arrived. It transpired the park was not responsible for the vandalism (despite the fact the barrier gate was broken but got miraculously fixed immediately) but offered us a free week as compensation. We are still waiting!! Needless to say we won't be going back.

Initial impression good, friendly...

Initial impression good, friendly helpful site manager issued keys and gave directions to house and local attractions. Once in our house we slowly started to spot the problems:
1. Smoke alarm hanging in bits - reported and fixed during our stay.
2. Kitchen left unclean - we mopped the sticky floor and cleaned all the glasses, cutlery etc. One glass still had beer in it!
3. Ensuite shower room - Power shower stuck on VV hot setting and temp control knob stuck in this position; Extractor fan not working; mirror fixings broken and mirror on the floor. Shower and fan fixed/replaced during stay, mirror still on floor on departure.
4. Car park, less than 1/4 mile away used by joy riders every night for hand break turns etc, to noisy to sit outside and "relax".
The area on the other hand was excellent. Pirates cove in Courtown has soft play, 10 pin bowling, crazy golf etc for rainy days. Next door was an amusement park with waltzer, dodgems, mini roller coaster etc. The local leisure centre was a bit disappointing, you even have to purchase bathing caps to get into the pool! Kia Ora mini farm was good value for money with loads of animals to see, feed and hold if you were lucky. Loads of sit on tractors and diggers in the sand pit for the kids and a good tea shop for the parents. Wexford was worth the drive, good Guinness and craic in all the child friendly pubs we visited.
I wrote to Hoseasons on return and listed the problems with the accommodation. Their reply that was I should have reported the problem to them as well as the site manager so they could do something to sort the problem at the time, a condition in their tiny small print.
The first few days of the holiday didn't seem that way, I could have stayed home and cleaned and carried out repairs on my own home and returned feeling as though I'd had a mini break not a week.
In summary, area great, Courtown Forest Park below average.
