We returned in June from our 8th stay in Cala D'or, and our 2nd at Ravells d'or.

We have stayed at the Ariel apartments and Esmerelda park, but by far prefer Ravels.

The staff are always friendly, from chatting as you book in, to the cleaners being lovely and friendly to saying goodbye when you check out.

Yes you have to park/walk along a main road when you arrive and leave, that is due to where the original hotel is built. Remember is it situated between shops, the pool, a shop walkway/path, and a main road.....would you prefer to park by the pool ;)

The apartments are always lovely and clean, and this is maintained every 2 or 3 days during your stay. The cleaners housekeepers always have high standards, and change bedding and towels each visit.

The air conditioning makes it a nice cool retreat from the sun, and the sink, fridge and 2 ring hob are just enough for breakfasts and lunches. Shame we have to wash up hehehehe.

We would highly recommend a visit to Mason Rafael to the side of the apartments near the bridge. The owners Rafael and Christy are lovely, the food is amazing, and reasonably priced. Our favourite restaurant on the Island is Grillworld. Next to the Dumpling and opposite the chinese restaurant in the centre of Cala D'or.

The owner Lianne is now like my 2nd Mum she looks after us so well. She has Indian and Thai chefs, and EVERY meal is prepapred individually to your taste. If you want more spices you can have them, if you want half chips half rice it's no problem. The meals are always excellent, and the ribs are the best on the island too!!

Please avoid Cheers if you can, we have heard reports of people being ripped off, and their meals are all pre prepared, how else can they do a variety of 4 roast dinners every single day? We have also witnessed people talking about eating there the night before and having stomach problems.

Back to Ravels.....the nightly entertainment is the best in Cala D'or. Tony the bar owner has a reputation for only booking the best on the island, and this is true, his standards are high! That may be why the drinks are slightly expensive.

I would highly recommend watching the Robbie Williams tribute act (Liam Live) I now have all of his cd's and to me he is better than Robbie, Abba Again are always fun and entertaining, as are Westlife, We Want You Back Take That, The Drifters etc etc the list is endless.

We are due back at Ravels in 7 weeks time and I cannot wait. It is now like a 2nd home to us and we highly recommend it to anyone, from young or old, with or without children you will enjoy it.

I can say without a doubt it was the best time i have had the hotel staff were very helpful the hotel its self was brilliant and the entertainment was fantastic.

It was only a 3 minute walk from the beach which was great.

The pool was lovely and clean and never got over crowded im getting married soon and i would love to go back here for my honeymoon.

We went with our 7 year old daughter for the second time and all of our needs were catered for. Most of all it was a great opportunity to come out of such a beautiful country with such good friends.

We stopped in the Es Ravel Dor and we had no problems everything was catered for and up to standard. No problems with electrics or anything.

Highly recommend the steak house downstairs run by Cathy and Raffaele Tilloca, this is based by the Tropical Gardens. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced and the service is fantastic.

The most important thing was that our daughter had a fantastic time. There was alot to do on site and off site.

Four of us just returned from Es Ravell Cala D'or - all in our 50's.

The location of these apartments is excellent. Everything you could want is close by including the beaches. Wouldn't recommend the resort for anyone with walking difficulties though.

Apartments comfortable and clean although some had a problem with ants. I don't mind ants but I suppose it may be a problem for others. Didn't see any cockroaches - and I do have a problem with those.

Reception staff helpful. Pool looked clean although I didn't use it- you can buy lilo's etc second hand for one or two Euros.

Hollywood Bar at the end of the street great for Karaoke and football but finishes outside at midnight so there is no disturbance.

Entertainment around the pool area until midnight also. Tribute - acts Robbie, Drifters, Abba, Take That, Neil Diamond.

All in all a great holiday and Cala D'or has loads of good restaurants in the main area.

Do not hesitate to book these apartments. I was worried at first when reading some reviews but not everyone is the same. We took our 12yr daughter and 9yr son. The apartments are roughly 1 hour from airport, not too bad. I found the room’s very clean, basic kitchen area with two ring hob and fridge/freezer. You can hire a toaster if you wish, with balcony.

The staff are lovely, the receptionists will go out of their way to help you with any queries. The bar connected to the apartments also does food, yet again the staff are always smiling and have jokes with the kids. The pool is big enough, but I can imagine it could get busy.

Through the day the entertainment team will get you involved in water polo and quizzes and bingo. At night there is different acts on stage e.g. Robbie Williams (very good), Abba, Grease.

These apartments are ideally located within reach of the beach, just down the road. There are lots of bars and restaurants to choose from just a few minutes walk, perfect! Also it is worth walking down to the harbour to see the big yachts and maybe have a meal (not expensive). Must warn you brits they are very laid back and you do wait a little for food.

My husband and son went golfing and myself and daughter went pony trekking - all which can be arranged through the reception.

Very good, been twice, I would definitely, recommend these apartments as they cater all your needs. The bars below are good and have activities like a games room with computers and karaoke.

The hotel itself has entertainment nightly and it is very good, it is based on a 2 week cycle, and there are shows like Westlife and Grease, they are very good, the bar has reasonable prices, and the food in the tropical gardens is very nice.

But we would recommend the Duke of Devonshire; the food is amazing and unbelievably reasonable.

We will definitely go back next year.

We stayed at Es Ravell D’or for the second time in October 2006 and for the first in June 2004after visiting cal D’or on several occasions. After having no complaints in2004 I enjoyed my second stay at Es Ravell D’or even more this time. I have never had cause for any complaints the staff have always been friendly and helpful and the rooms always clean and well maintained. The owners and staff at the tropical gardens have always done their up most to ensure my stay in cala D’or has always been a memorable one. This year we went out in the last week of the season and there was still nightly entertainment. The food at the tropical gardens is very good and reasonably priced and you get exactly what you ask for.

Es Ravell D’or is perfectly situates for bars shops and the beach, I would have absolutely no reservations about using this accommodation again and would freely recommend it to anyone who wants to visit cala D’or

The weather was fantastic for October pity we couldn't say the same of these apartments. Es Ravell apartments are more like a 2 star.

I can't believe if you are self catering that you need to hire a toaster and kettle fortunately we had our own kettle after reading other reviews. Watch out for the ants, we also had very dodgy electrics wire hanging from the ceiling rose to another light, light switches which didn't work. Also the balcony is not very private.

We have previously stayed at the sol Cala D’Or over the road and this is far better than these apartments. The location for the shops, restaurants and beach are perfect.

We went back to Es Ravel in September for the THIRD time, and took my daughter, who had a fabulous time. It is the first time she has been and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We went in May and September last year, the complex and entertainment is really good, everywhere is clean. The waiters and Owner of the Tropical Gardens Tony are just so friendly. There is plenty to do in Cala D'or, plenty of shops, bars and restaurants, the only bad service we received was in a English restaurant called the Dumpling and waited for an hour and a half for our food! There is a Steak Bar on the corner that has a statuette of a cowboy outside, which is very expensive (and not particularly nice). The food at Es ravell is good, and also an Italian themed restaurant called Buenvenito.

The beach is nice and sandy and the sea is so clear and blue. Everything stops around 1 am, it is really good for families and couples. Not a lively place.

We are definitely going to go back, we are so pleased with everything about the holiday. My daughter made some good friends and they are keeping in touch. This is the place to go for a good value for money holiday. You can watch the shows from your balcony if you don’t want to sit in the main area downstairs.

Can’t fault it at all.

My partner and I booked on Wednesday and went on the Saturday- very last minute! We had asked for a quiet apartment but were worried after subsequently seeing Es Ravell in the Sunset brochure -it came with a 'noise warning'! Our fears were unjustified - we were offered a choice of 2 rooms in block 5 and chose 5106 (particularly great room - had 3 balcony's!!) It would definitely be noisier down the other end of the complex close to outside bars and its own bar, but the tribute bands (the ones we saw good for free entertainment) finished by midnight anyway.

Negligible problems barely worth a mention. Air conditioning was great, but seemed to switch off in the early hours, but not really a problem. A few ants but spray provided, and they're just about everywhere, I understand. The pool got a bit cloudy but the receptionist informed the pool staff and soon sorted. The weather unexpectedly broke towards the end of the week and lots of (spectacular!) thunder, lightening and some cloud, but still warm enough to lie by the pool during the day.

Caves of Drach amazing and well worth a visit - we went on local bus which meant we could spend day on the beach at Puerto Cristo, but last bus back did go round the houses to get back!

My partner had to come back midweek so apart from swimming 'widths' across the Cala Gran cove first thing in the mornings before it got busy, I lazed around and swam a lot in the good sized pool. Always plenty of sun beds, quiet except for a few hours entertainment by the friendly staff at lunchtime. We wanted p & q and got it, though we did go after the school holidays had finished so can't vouch for high season, but would certainly recommend our apartment. Would definitely go back again and try to be a bit more active as there was plenty to see which we never got around to.

My husband and I came here in June without the kids apartments basic but clean with a new bathroom, mother & daughter ran reception & was very friendly & helpful the pool & pool side bar (tropical gardens) was always kept nice & clean. The staff was very friendly the entertainment was excellent especially for children, the reps Ellie & Gareth the best I have seen so far on any holiday.

Cala D’Or itself is a lovely place, friendly people and Carla Gran beach is stunning with lovely clear water and kept very clean, there is plenty of good restaurants there is a couple of good night clubs in the square and plenty of bars too (a couple of times we rolled in at 5am after clubbing with the Spanish) Cala D’Or is ideal for families or couples.

We never usually return to the same place twice but it is such a great place we are coming back in 2 weeks (sep 06) with our three children age 12, 7 and 3 although unfortunately Es Ravel does not do apartment for a family of 5 but we will definitely be paying Ellie & Gareth (kids reps) a visit.

We recently returned from a self catering week spent at the Es Ravell apartments and overall enjoyed our stay.

The apartment we had was spacious, clean and had air con, although it didn't turn up as high as we wanted but it was enough on the very hot afternoons we had our siesta. Only one little gripe about the accommodation is it was right over the main streets busy (loud) bars which seamed a little bit thoughtless on behalf of the folks who allocate your room considering we were a family with our 6 year son.

The outside bar/restaurant underneath our accommodation was very expensive for drinks and snacks but the professional and extremely helpful staff made up for that.

The entertainment was good enough if you are into tribute bands because that is all you get every night. The resorts entertainment duo did a good job at keeping the kids occupied and entertained.

The most impressive thing we remember about our stay was the people who clean your room kindly folded our son’s pyjamas neatly and placed them on his pillow, very sweet.

We have just returned from a one week holiday staying at Es Ravell D’Or apartments. The apartments were basic but clean and had air conditioning which was good in the evenings.

The pool area was not that big but we always managed to get beds. Entertainers did a good job keeping young children amused and the tribute groups were the best entertainment in the resort although the bar is expensive. The restaurants were all quite similar except the restaurants at the marina which are lovely and well worth a visit.

We had a good week although the weather wasn't the best but could certainly not fault these apartments. The resort was quieter than we would have liked (we had two teenagers with us) but worth a visit.

Well what can I say about these apartments? When we arrived we too had to walk up the road to our apartments, dodging the traffic. The air conditioning was non existent and after complaining we had to pay to hire a fan.

The water was turned off one night right in the middle of my husband having a shower. No explanation or apologies given!

The following night there was a power cut (only in our apartments as the bars below were still fully functional) that meant no air-conditioning and no fan. Then to top it all we were flooded in the bathroom and the ceiling tiles in the bathroom were sodden and rotted and the water was everywhere.

Whoever awarded these apartments 3 stars? They don't qualify for 2 stars.

The pool was too small and no beds were ever available and the pool was also very cloudy and not as clean as I would have expected.

There was no alternative accommodation available and as a result we paid for two flights home and came back 6 days early.

A total disaster from start to finish. Never again!

I was very disappointed not with the resort just the apartments. I returned yesterday from Cala D’Or.

Firstly when we arrived at Es Ravell our apartment was up a road where there was no path so we had to carry our suitcases up the road stopping every two minutes for cars that passed us, when we reached our apartments which were right next to overflowing bins we were very disappointed with it, I cannot imagine who gave this complex 3 stars.

Our bath was dirty, there were wires hanging from two of the lights, the beds were damp and smelt our view was of a dead tree with manky underwear hanging off it and no pool in sight. When washing up one night in the kitchen sink the water came straight out onto the floor instead of down the drain and one night we had no water at all and had to shower beside the pool! What a disaster!

The pool itself was busy as its open to everyone and we never got a bed, we ended up using a different pool which was 100 times nicer and cleaner. When complaining to the rep she said there were no other rooms available and could only offer us a swap to another hotel for an extra 500 euros each! Paying 400 pounds each for a week was bad enough we thought!

Cala D’Or itself was nice with lots of lovely place to eat. The only upside to the apartment was the air conditioning with kept us cool! On a whole this apartment was the worst I have ever stayed in!
