Hotel spotlessly clean throughout. Arrival at Reception proved unfriendly and unhelpful staff were offhand. I know we arrived at 10.30 on a Sunday night but there was no offer of assistance with baggage or offer of a refreshing drink. We found the food good here and drinks... more

A wonderful hotel which merits all of the positive comments above. My wife and I agree that this is the best hotel we have ever stayed in on a package tour. The staff were consistently courteous and helpful and all areas were maintained and cleaned to the highest standards.... more

My wife and I had previously stayed at this hotel when it was only 6 months old. We had been so impressed at that time that we promised to return, and did so to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We were a bit apprehensive, as we have, in the past, been disappointed... more

First impressions Arriving at this hotel you walk into a vast reception area which has such an air of opulence and lavishness, it takes your breath away and you wonder if you have been dropped off at the right hotel, particularly as it is often part of a package deal. Being... more

Beautiful hotel with huge rooms. Really nicely decorated, great food with enormous selection at breakfast and supper - didn’t need to eat again! We had the kid’s pool to ourselves for a week and it was lovely and warm. Gorgeous weather and loved the fact that towels... more

Simply the best holiday I have ever had. Superlatives abound when discussing this holiday. I travelled with my wife and son aged 4, and the first thing that struck us was the size of the reception. It was almost cathedral -like in its size and grandeur! To be honest, we... more

Absolutely Fantastic Place
Everything about the hotel was great; from cleaniness of hotel to food, pool and surroundings etc. It's a pity we can't say anything negative about the hotel and would dearly love to keep it a secret just for us!!! However, it was that good that we came straight back home and booked another week's holiday at the Spring Playa La Arena for next year. What a find!
Wow what a place
Just got back from 7 days in Tenerife, I was lucky enough to stay at Hotel Playa La Arena, from the moment you walk into the giant reception area, your jaw hits the floor and you realise your in somewhere special.Everywhere is spotlessly clean, bar, pool, restaurant, rooms, grounds. The pool area is fantastic,no fighting for sunbeds, and well spaced out,you get fresh clean pool towels supplied each day,and the sunbeds are cleaned each night. I stayed all inclusive which was great, eat, drink and be merry....spoil yourself, you wont be dissappointed
First Romantic Holiday!!!!
I came here with my boyfriend of 1 1/2 years - it was our first holiday abroad together. We were amazed at the hotel. There is a beautiful fountain at the front of the hotel entrance. When you walk in the door, you just stand and look about for a few seconds. It is slightly breath taking. The rooms were very clean and spacious with a bath and walk in shower, which was great for the evening when we were both trying to get ready. The pool area was fairly quiet for the time of year but was very relaxing. The food was outstanding and full of variety. Something different everynight and always well presented. The area around the hotel is very quiet but a five minute drive will take you to the green corner which has a few lively bars, most of which are open until about 2am (plus) or there is the drive into Los Cristinos or Las Americas. It is definatly a place which I want to go back to (hopefully this year). I would say it is definatly a place for couples of all ages and young children - as the hotel caters discos and entertainment for them. The only bad thing I coul say about this hotel, was the adult entertainment was not very good and there was nothing that went on for later than about 12pm i.e. a piano bar!!
Excellent Hotel
Just returned from 10 days at the Hotel Play la Arena in Tenerife (March 2005). Hotel was excellent, rooms very clean and plenty of space, food was excellent (we were half board - breakfast and evening meal), bar areas and pool top class. Our group consisted of 2 adults a 16 year old and a 7 year old all of whom thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. 7 Year old particularly enjoyed the kids activities and the nightly disco. The area around the hotel is fairly quiet so I would recommend hiring a car. Ideally suited to families or couples (young or old). Planning to return in October 2005.
Absolutely fantastic
This hotel is faultless. Every aspect of our stay was perfect. The staff were so accommodating and helpful. The facilities and level of cleanliness etc were second to none. Our room was very spacious and well equipped. The bathroom was luxurious and a good size. The food as wonderful. There was something for everyone. And plenty of it. You could fill your plate 10 times over if you wanted to. The choice and variety was emmense. I cannot sing the praises of this hotel enough. The only thing not in their favour is the resot itself. We found ourselves going accross to Las Americas or Callaeo Sallvaj in the evenings for a change of scenary. We stayed in July 2004 and the resort was undergoing some radical changes, which this year, (2005 or 2006) may have improved the resort greatly. I hope so, as this top class hotel deserves to be in a top class resort.
wow!! luxury & great food. Will definately go back.
Lovely place, really well designed. Makes you feel good just walking through the doors! Bedroom faced sea & pools. Spacious & well equiped. Dining is something to look forward to - a vast choice of superb food. Only criticism there is that food not red hot, due to it being buffet self service. Staff polite, helpful and speak English! Will certainly go back there, soon I hope.
Going back for a second time...
I spent a week at this hotel in April and had a fantastic time. The hotel is really well designed with lovely reception, bars and a huge pool area. The 'show-grill' in the restaurant offers the freshest local fish and meat each day, cooked to order, as well as a great salad/veg/hot meals buffet, lots of shellfish/salmon etc. and great desserts. Our room was spacious with nice bathroom and good facilities - upgrade to superior buys you a better view + fluffy bathrobe and pool towels. We had a terrace looking out over the pool and gardens which was perfect for an evening G&T. Cabaret-style entertainment was a bit cheesy but what the hell .... you're on holiday! You can always go to Los Gigantes for a more authentic Spanish evening. There's a small gym, beauty salon and hairdresser in the hotel grounds. I'm going back next week and can't wait.
Overall view
This will be our 4th stay at the Hotel in October this year(2004) , the staff are very friendly & helpful, food and restaurant staff wonderful, nothing is too much trouble. I have recommended this Hotel to friends who have also been on a stay & are going back next year. They even have a quite part of the Hotel which we always choose with sea & pool view which are fantastic. Night life in the Hotel is an experience also with good nightly shows and audience participation (if you want to) is amusing. All in all a fantastic hotel for both families & couples wishing a restfull holiday. Am I looking forward to this holiday - you bet!!!
Resort with Everything!
Playa de la Arena, near Los Gigantes, on the west coast of Tenerife has everything! Beautiful, clean black sand beach backed by palm trees with spotless showers and toilets; restaurants serving food from all over the world including Chinese, Austrian, Italian, Spanish and even British; plenty of bars and shops, including two really good supermarkets which were useful for us as we were self-catering. The English-speaking staff in the local tourist information office were very helpful. The boat trip from nearby Los Gigantes marina to see whales and dolphins is well worth doing, as is visiting the Loro Parque in Puerto de la Cruz, and driving up Mount Teide is an absolute must. We can't wait to go again!
Superb hotel
Fantastic hotel, super location within a quiet area. Rooms great, facilties good, food excellent. Pools super. Stayed for 2 weeks with family.Looking forward to going back. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. Book it you won't regret it.
