Friendly and great value!
from Veronese
I have just returned from a wonderful stay at Hotel Bisesti. Like another of the reviewers, I was slightly nervous booking it after reading one of the negative reviews below. However, I am pleased to say I was very pleasantly surprised! We were investigating the location for a group trip next year and the Bisesti was just what we were looking for. As we will be visiting with a big group, I asked to see all the different types of room. Most are not huge, but they were good for 3* and the price. There are some larger doubles and family rooms, but they are harder to book (I think you'd have to request them directly from the hotel). All the rooms on one wing are air-conditioned, and there are some cheaper rooms without it. The place is tiled throughout and didn't get that hot, so these would probably have been fine. Most of the rooms have lovely brand new shower rooms - see photo. There was plenty of hot water, and contrary to an earlier review, good water pressure! Towels were changed daily and the entire place was spotless. The location of the hotel is excellent. It is about 3 mins walk from the bus station, where there are frequent buses to the nearby villages and Verona. (Torri del Benaco is stunning and well worth a trip). There is also a newsagent and a supermarket just round the corner. It's about 5 minutes walk into the town (although it will take you longer if you can't ignore all the shops on the way!). The facilities at the hotel were great. There is a good-size pool with plenty of loungers, some of which are in the shade for the fairer Anglo-Saxon types! The bar sells very good icecreams all day for €1. There is internet in the lobby for 10 cents/hour (good fast connection) and a very useful library if you've run out of books (or Hello magazine for poolside reading!). The breakfasts were substantial with cheese, ham/salami, bread, toast, cereals, croissants, tinned fruit, yoghurt and tea/coffee. There was quite a German slant to it which is understandable as the tourists in Lake Garda are mainly German and English. Italians don't really do breakfast like we do so it was good to find this much choice. It would have been nice if there was some fresh fruit, but with the supermarket so close, this isn't really a problem. We didn't go half-board so I can't speak for the lunchtime or evening meals. However, there are loads of really nice cheap pizzerias, cafes and restaurants right by the lakefront. There was entertainment most evenings at the hotel at dinnertime, so if this isn't your kind of thing, you might prefer to eat elsewhere! The service was very friendly and they started to recognise us quickly. They were very helpful with all my questions about our trip next year, in contrast to some other hotels. We looked at all the other 3* hotels in Garda which were close to the centre and this was definitely our favourite. The ones closer to the lake didn't have pools, or they weren't as nice, and we also thought that they would be quite noisy at night as there are lots of people around at all the cafes. For the price we paid (about £45 pp for single rooms in Aug), this was great value and highly recommended! Enjoy your trip if you go!
no complaints at all!

My husband and I have just returned from Lake Garda in which we can honestly say was one of the best holidays we have ever experienced made more so by the hospitality of the hotel Bisesti, this hotel is wonderful although we were forewarned the rooms may be on the small size , our room was of adequat size plenty of wardrobe space lovely and clean , the towels were changed daily after the maids had cleaned each day the rooms were left smelling lovely and fresh, all the staff were very friendly all through the hotel from the cleaners to the manager who was always on site if needed, the location of the hotel is perfect just a 2 minute walk and you are on the lake edge with wonderful views. The meals were made from fresh local produce if something was not to your liking the head waiter would offer you a replacement no problem. we would definatley stay at the bisesti again.
Bisesti a great hotel
from skull587
I feel compelled to write this review after finding this site prior to my holiday and reading a particularly scathing review. It made me regret my holiday booking at the time. I am very pleased to say that the reviewer who slated the Bisesti must have been a particularly fussy character. The Hotel is excellent, (especially as its only a 3 star), and the staff were brilliant - friendly and efficient. The location is superb and the range of excursions available were of the highest standard. Bus travel is easy but I would not reccommend car hire as the local driving is a little erratic at the best of times. I will definately return.
Excellent Hotel
from JoMoff
My husband and I are just back from two weeks in Lake Garda, Italy. Hotel Bisesti is excellent and we already miss it. The staff are exceptional, very helpful and friendly. We have never come across staff as friendly as the ones in Bisesti. We will definitely return to the hotel. Lake Garda is beautiful and we were able to visit Milan, Florence, Venice and the Opera in Verona during our holiday. There are also many other places of interest to see while staying there. Italy is such a beautiful country and it was a bonus to stay in a hotel with such a great atmosphere. It was very hot (35 degrees most days, 40 degrees in the cities), so if you do not like it very hot you should go in June or September when it is hot but probably more bearable. We highly recommend Lake Garda and particulary Bisesti.
Fell in love with Italy
from A TripAdvisor Member
Visited Lake Garda in July. The weather was rather mixed - plenty of thunder and rain but it certainly did not spoil our holiday at the Bisesti. It was certainly an interesting Gala Evening with the staff scurrying everywhere under umbrellas in their haste to clear the tables etc. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and a young happy bunch. The food wasn't fantastic but was very good and always a choice. The hotel was extremely clean and the bar and pool area spotless. The lunch by the pool was cool and very pleasant and Vincenzo always happy to see you. It certainly tempted us to go to Italy again as the people are so friendly and the food everywhere you go wonderful. Jamie Oliver should certainly visit Lake Garda - he would be surprised at the variety in the excellent restaurants around the lake side. The scenery is spectacular and Venice is wonderful. We had a full lake trip and every village around the lake is different and full of interest. The handbags are especially good!
Very nice hotel

This is a lovely hotel, set back from the main road in pretty tranquil gardens. The pool is secluded in the garden with lovely trees to sit under, if it gets too hot.Fantastic location, really near to lake, can walk through alley way or via little shops etc.The shops bars etc are mostly along the lake side and very close to it, again the hotel is ideally situated. There is good mini supermarket just over the road and a tobaccanist nearby should you want one. There is a bus area within easy walking distance, so you can visit other locations, such as Malcesine, which is very scenic and nice. There is a market on a Friday along side the lake, so ideal location again. You can walk into Bardolino alongside the lake aswell.Theres lots of fish in the lake and lots of ducks, which are very amusing to watch. The hotel is nice and clean and the staff are very friendly and obliging. The head waiter has a little cheeky sparkle in his eye when he teases you, obviously, he is very professional also. The room was not over large, but adequate, and well cleaned. It has nice tables and chairs to sit on in the grounds for a quiet drink in the evening or during the day, with an area to the side to the hotel, near the pool, which again is nice to sit under during the evening. As regards breakfast, the tea and coffee are not very nice, but the buffet is smallish, but apertising. The evening meal is probably a bit on the small side, but you can fill your self up on the salad bar which is also apertising.I though the food was pretty tasty, not the same as eating out obviously, but good for hotel food. The deserts were particuarly nice, like pears in wine sauce!I dont think you would be disapointed to stay here, we went in June and it was great.
Not good.....
from A TripAdvisor Member
Good location and reasonably clean hotel/room. The staff were friendly and spoke good English. However, the shower was the worse I've ever used - a trickle of water, and fluctuating temperatures ! Plus, the walls are paper thin so you can here flushing toilets and snoring neighbours at all hours. The banging of doors also meant you can't get to sleep before midnight, and then the cleaners wake you up at 8am ! Breakfast was ok, but nothing special.
Hotel Bisesti – Do not stay here
from A TripAdvisor Member
I have just returned from 2 weeks’ holiday at the Bisesti and it was probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. On arrival, we were not given a room with 3 single beds as booked and paid for in advance. Instead we were shoved into what I can only describe as a broom cupboard with one double bed wedged into it. It was hot and stuffy with old shutters and a broken window. The furniture was old and tatty. A far cry from the “Venetian style decor” advertised. The bathroom was tiny with wild temperature variations in the shower, where we were either frozen with icy water or boiled alive. The reception staff simply did not want to hear our complaint about being given the incorrect room, and refused to move us to the correct room as apparently they were full. All three receptionists we dealt with were rude and unhelpful over this matter. We spoke to a number of other guests who had also been given the wrong rooms, e.g. rooms without balconies or air conditioning despite having booked and paid for these things in advance. However, the bad accommodation and unhelpful staff paled into insignificance compared to the food. We had unfortunately booked half board which included breakfast and evening meal. We were asked to share a table with two other guests, not a problem in itself and fairly common practice at three star hotels, however the tables are designed not for four people but for two which makes for a rather cramped dining experience. Breakfast was standard continental fare for a three star, however if you arrive after your tablemates have finished, you will share the table with their dirty plates, cups and leftovers, mmm. At breakfast you are invited to choose your evening meal. You have a choice of three starters and three main courses which are at best, bland and at worst, just awful. The starters were often a flabby pasta or a flavour-free soup. If you’re lucky you might find a fag end in your pasta as did a fellow diner! Main course low points included an unrecognisable cut of boiled (yes, boiled!) lamb and “Wreck Fish” which had the consistency of wet cardboard but without as much flavour. You were invited to supplement your meal by visiting the salad bar which consisted of five or six sorry looking bowls of ‘salad’ including cold boiled cauliflower, cold boiled green beans and grated carrot, but get there early as the bowls are not replenished. Gala Night is touted as the culinary high point of the week and on first sight you may be impressed by the large platter containing a huge roast turkey which is paraded in front of the expectant diners. Do not be fooled. It bears no relation to the subsequent mechanically recovered offering that appears some minutes later on your plate. This deception is carried out with the aid of a plastic turkey. Presumably this mock–turkey is wheeled out in order that the guests know what species of animal they are eating. Dessert was usually a choice of cake, ice cream or fruit. But don’t bother to ask for ice cream with your cake, like our tablemate did, as he was refused point blank on several occasions. In the end he had to ask the hotel manager to authorise this most unusual of culinary requests. Other than Gala Night, the only other entertainment on offer was Bingo Night. The first prize was a weeks’ holiday at the Hotel Bisesti. (Presumably second prize was a two week stay!). Don’t stay here if you fancy getting a good nights’ sleep, as the walls are paper thin. You will hear your neighbours snoring and using the toilet at all hours, and if this doesn’t wake you up at the crack of dawn, the chambermaids will, by clattering and shouting outside your room. The only redeeming features about this hotel are that it is clean and has a good location near the lake.
Brilliant Bisesti

This was our first holiday in Italy and it was one to remember. I looked on the internet for accomodation in Gards and we liked the look of the Hotel Bisesti, although we only found one or two reviews on the hotel. All the hotel staff could not be faulted, very helpful and friendly. The room booked with a balcony and air conditioning and was bigger than we expected and very comfortable. The room was cleaned every day and the choice was yours on clean towels etc. The meals were good and there was always a choice. If you were half board you could choose on the day to have lunch or evening meal. The pool and the gardens were very clean and tidy. The hotel is nicely located for the lake and the many shops and resteraunts etc(2min). We walked to Lessize a couple of times passing through Bordellino and took ferry trips to Limone and Malcesine all these places were clean and litter free. all in all we really enjoyed our holiday at Hotel Bisesti and Garda
A wonderful holiday

This was our second visit to GARDA, but our first to the Bisesti. We had a great holiday. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean and the service was very good. The food was varied and tasty, not the best I've had in some hotels, but nothing to complain about. I liked the fact that we could swap our evening meal to lunch time and that gave us opportunity to try out some of the wonderful restaurants around the lake side. The pool area was relaxing with plenty of sunbeds and pool service. I would recommend that you pay a supplement and have a pool or garden view with balcony, as the other rooms are looking over an alley way with no balcony and are very small (so some people told us). Each week they have a 'gala evening' where all tables are set up outside and you eat under the stars - a great evening, especially if you go at the time of the Italian's festival day, when there are fireworks and boat races on the lake, the hotels put on fantastic gala dinners that evening (last year it was August 15th). Garda is by far the best resort on the lake, flat, wonderful bars lakeside and you have easy access to so many other places. I would give the Bisesti a big thumbs up for being welcoming, friendly and making our holiday one of the best ever. Yes we will be going back!

Hotel Bisesti is a beautifully situated 3 star hotel, just 300 yards from the shore of Lake Garda, in the Garda resort. Set in its own grounds, the hotel doesn't offer lake views, but is a very short (1 minute) walk from the lake shore and offers stunning mountainous views... more
