Oct 2006, Mrs A Shaw

We stayed at this hotel in 2003 and enjoyed it so much that we decided to go again this year. I am glad we did. All we remembered about the hotel, its cleanliness and friendliness of staff was still all there.
Mike and Billy really look after the hotel but are never too busy for a laugh and a joke with the guests. Also along with Manos, the barman, the two brothers are always there to sing a song at the Karaoke night.
Anyone who wants a relaxing, friendly holiday in a spotless hotel with good and varied meals on offer should try this hotel.
We are already planning to go back next year.

Just got back from wonderful holiday....
10 / 10
Sep 2006, Mrs R Brown

Just got back from wonderful holiday. Everything about the hotel Anastasia was a real pleasure. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for you, even the owners were part of the team making you feel at home and by the end of the holiday (My husband and I were there for 2 weeks) it was like saying good-bye to friends. The hotel and facilities were excellent and spotlessly clean. Beautiful gardens and surroundings. Relax by the pool - sit at the bar watching the world go by! Everything was so informal that you felt right at home.
Food was pretty good too. Buffet style and certainly enough choices on the breakfast and dinner menus to suit even the fussiest of tastes. Evening entertainment most nights - bingo/quiz nights/barbeque on Sundays and not to be missed The Greek Night. None of it goes on until the early hours of the morning, keeping you awake which has often been a problem on previous holidays.
The situation of the hotel was perfect as well. Quiet and peaceful but with a short 5 minute walk you were in the town with a great selection of bars, shops and more eating establishments than you could wish for. If you wanted something with livelier night life, Malia with its night clubs etc. is about 10 mins walk away. Taxis are cheap and trips around Crete are varied well organised and not overly expensive. Quad bikes are a bit of a pain but that is the only negative thing I can think of on this holiday. Going again next year!!!

Sep 2006, Miss C Preece

My boyfriend and I (27 & 30 yr olds) stayed at this great hotel at the end of August / start of September for a week and had a fantastic time. I'd agree with all the good things that have already been said on here.
We got self-service half-board for the price of a decent self-catering holiday and I wouldn't hesitate in going back.
The hotel is in an ideal location for walking into Stalis - and Malia if you want a livelier time of an evening - but without the disruption of being in the busy main street.
The room was lovely, with FREE air conditioning. The grounds, pool area and bar were all great (we also got free use of a pile of inflatable!).
The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. They gave us recommendations on places to visit and joined in the evening entertainment.
We spotted a few restaurants we wanted to try while out and about but then never ended up bothering because the food was great at the hotel!
Both my boyfriend and I hope to go back and visit the Anastasia - and maybe stay longer than just a week!

Very friendly staff and management, always clean and tidy. The rooms are standard holiday rooms, somewhat cramped, I would hate to be in one with the extra bed being used.
Unfortunately the pool is now too small for the extensions that have been added to the hotel. At times it was difficult to find a place at the pool side. Do not pay for an upgrade for a sea view, it's a little like Fawlty Towers, you can see the sea, but only just.
Enjoyable all the same. Stalis is nice, but the amount of 'quad' bikes makes it a bit annoying. This appears to be a problem the Greeks themselves want to address; we came across a few locals saying they would like to get rid of the rowdy element in the area.

We are just back from another 3-week...

Jul 2006, Mrs B Melvin

We are just back from another 3-week holiday in Crete, spent in the wonderful surroundings of the Hotel Anastasia, Stalis/Malia, and Crete.
It is no coincidence that most of the reviews to date give 10/10 as a rating for this hotel. This rating is very well deserved; it starts with the owners/managers of the hotel, Michael and Billy, who are very friendly, hands-on people, and are on the premises every day. The staff, who are the same from year to year, are extremely friendly and helpful also. Accommodation is spotlessly clean and well maintained, surrounded by beautiful colourful plants and trees. Food is a buffet service - dinner menu changed daily to suit everyone's taste, with plenty of choice. A barbecue is held every Sunday night and the variety of meats and salads is second to none.
Entertainment almost every evening, ranging from Karaoke night to Traditional Greek night, with everyone joining in and having good fun. The bar area is at the poolside and adults can relax while children are safe nearby either watching TV on the outdoor large screen, playing pool/table tennis or in the playground on the swings, slide, etc.
I could go on, but suffice to say that this is the fourth holiday we have spent at Hotel Anastasia in Crete and we will be returning again next year.

Hotel Anastasia from the start was an excellent hotel we cannot think of anything we can pull down about this hotel all the staff from the cleaners to the managers were excellent the food was out of this world loads of choice and variety and it’s the cleanest place we have ever visited. We were there for only a week but we could have stopped for a lot longer we really enjoyed this holiday but most of all this far from 3* hotel was brilliant and really made us feel at home. They were particular good with our 4 year old boy and had everything you need for a holiday including a kids club and good entertainment especially the bbq all in all this was a 10 out of 10 holiday and we are definitely going back again this year and next thanks to all the staff and people we met.

This place is brilliant. Everything about it makes for a great holiday.
The staff are all extremely friendly and the accommodation is superb. The food provided is excellent.
Location is perfect for a stroll to the masses of restaurants in Stalis or for a mad night out in Malia, a little further walk (20-30 mins) so you may want to consider getting a bus/taxi.
Have already booked for June 2006, taking lots of family with me and looking forward to catching up with the staff and also last year’s guests.

We returned to Hotel Anastasia in...

Apr 2006, Mrs M Earl

We returned to Hotel Anastasia in 2005 following a visit either side of a cruise in 2004. We were given a very warm welcome back not only by the owners, but by all the staff too. Immediately we felt that we belonged. The hotel is well run with nothing seeming to be too much trouble. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and all the staff are very polite and friendly.
The food is good and the mealtimes are long and therefore crowding in the restaurant is avoided. It is a joy to have the option to eat outside. The surroundings are attractive and peaceful. The hotel is far away from the main resorts to be peaceful but near enough to enjoy a pleasant walk to shops or to the beach.
It is a hotel that we shall continue to return to, in fact we can hardly wait for September of this year.

Jun 2004, Mrs J Hough

Highly recommend this family run hotel. We stayed here either side of a cruise and wished we’d been able to stay longer.
Set back on the other side of the main road from the rather noisy seafront bar street leading from Hersonissos through Stalis and on to Malia, this is the perfect small friendly hotel for any age (range was about 2-70 when we were there). Accommodation, food and pool were all excellent. Owners and staff extremely pleasant and helpful. Plenty of nightlife down the road if you want it, otherwise a slightly quieter night round the hotel bar.
Hope to go there again sometime in the near future.

May 2004, Mr G Gibson

The Anastasia provided us with a fantastic holiday!. Our family of 2 adults & 2 children were looked after brilliantly.
Location wise, this is a good hotel for sightseeing based holiday as it located just off the island’s main road. A sandy beach is about a 5 minute walk away. Shops for all sundries are close by also. The things that make this hotel stand out are many!! The place is literally the cleanest hotel I have EVER stopped in - this point being even more relevant as Greek hotels are not world renowned for their cleanliness! Everything is in great condition and the rooms are spacious.
The service is second to none - as this is a family run business of around 50 rooms, the service is personal & you can really tell the owners and staff care about their guests.
Food wise - we went half board - the food was good, but not exceptional. Breakfast meals are a little sparse on the hot food side.
For ease, I would rate this hotel as
Location - Excellent (not beachfront though for beach lovers)
Facilities - Excellent
Service - 5 star excellent (only a 3 star hotel in the guide!)
Food - Average
Rooms - Spacious, clean - Excellent
N.B. British mainly book the hotel, with some Lithuanians and some Austrian. (No Germans to steal the sun beds!)
We are a family that want to try somewhere different each time we book our holiday, thus I am surprised to say that we would come back to the Hotel Anastasia for a repeat holiday, which is some accolade. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to book a family holiday.
