My Friend and I just returned from Luperon Beach Resort on Saturday February 7 and we had the best time of our lives. The staff at Luperon are very helpful and very frindly anytime we needed anything the staff there would go out of thier way to help us. The weather was great bright and sunny everyday thought a little windy down at the beach. My friend and I had a standered room at luperon and were very pleased with it. The air condition worked perfectly and we had a good view off our balcony and the maid would pick flowers to leave in our bathroom for us everyday. I enjoyed the food there the buffet was great serving different pork, chicken, and beef dishes everynight (the beef was a little tough but still very delicious). If your planning to go to Luperon make sure you try the medditeranian a la carte. The servrs dress up fancy and serve you great seafood and pork dishes off the menu. As for the night life at Luperon the disco was awesome and a great place to meet new people from all around the world. While we were there we met the greatest group of people from right here in Canada and as the week went on it started to feel like these people had been my friends for my whole life. and For the people reading this review and wondering about the beer, all I have to say is I heard one person say it might be the best beer he'd ever tasted, and i dont think that my buddy drank anything but. The rum in the dominican is one of the finest in the world and comes in two varietys your 40% and your 151 proof, both were excellent. Overall Luperon Beach Resort was very well maintained and very relaxing I loved every minute of it and cant wait to go back next year. Wipe all doubts from your mind Luperon Beach Resort is UTOPIA!

Went down with my family of ten and it was awesome. From the kids to our more adult activities the experience was great. I can't think of a complaint unless of course you are there to watch tv then there is not much english. Rent bikes and go downtown and check out the safe downtown. The waterfalls were great. I think I should have won the karaoke thought!! Met good people adn can't wait to go back. ~Hollywood

It was wonderful. So relaxing. I didn't want to come back. We stayed at the Luperon from December 28, 2003 - January 4, 2004 and we had a great time. Clean room, fresh water every day, hot food at the Buffet. I enjoyed our balcony with a view of the ocean and land. We thought it was luxurious just to have 2 queen beds, a fan, a balcony and a fridge in a Standard Room. The pools were beautiful but we mostly stuck to the long strip of beach. My husband and I did not mind the roosters or the one time the water pressure faded at 8:30 p.m. as we were going out for dinner. We enjoyed our daily missions to find a beach chair and rejoiced with glee when we did. Nightly walks on the boardwalk watching the ocean was just what we needed. The staff were friendly and if absent we didn't mind. It was nice being in a restaurant and not being rushed for the table. I do feel sorry for the people who did not have a good trip. But if you don't care about watching T.V. or a jacuzzi tub or not having shrimp every night you may want to have a relaxing get away at Luperon. The horseback riding was a blast!! Rule #1: bring good company! And remember if you travel in tropical countries and there are bugs just ask to move rooms usually that does the trick. Talk to other guests to find out if they have bugs and move there. We had to do that with a 5-star hotel in Venezuela!Nadissa & Rob, Toronto, Canada

Just returned from The Luperon on Jan 30, 2004...had a great time. The grounds were kept very clean and well maintained. The vegetation is much more lush than the south end of Dominican where I was last year. We were fortunate to have a room with a terrific ocean view and the sound of the surf to help fall asleep at night. The weather was perfect..a little windy at times. The many pools are lots of fun but the ocean is still the best..take some water shoes though as some parts of the shoreline are rocky! (Only negative is that the room could use a little TLC...nice and clean but a little more effort into decorating would help). I would go again...
Great time at the Luperon Beach Resort

We spent the week of November 23 to December 1 at this resort and have nothing but good to say about it. The staff was friendly and helpfull, the food was good and plentyfull and the bar tenders were exeptionally friendly. The grounds are very attractive and our room was large and comfortable. Only 2 English speaking channels on the cable TV. We would have liked a bigger selection in English. Otherwise everything was great. We liked our room balcony which overlooked some great tropical flora. We rated this very highly and the price, with devaluated Dominican Pesos, very reasonable. We plan to visit this site again as soon as possible. Ken & Lola Yaple
Excellent value for the money.

Luperon Beach or Tropical resort was great. We got a fantastic deal, due to it being rated a 3.5 star resort and an excellent travel agency. We went there expecting the worst, having read past reports after buying the tickets, and were pleasantly surprised. This resort is just HUGE. It is now both the Tropical Resort and Beach Resort all in one. There are three very large pools, and one medium pool. Each pool offers it's own personality and ambiance for all moods. Several smaller pools were also available. There are a lot of free activities, including water sports and horseback riding. Lots of juices and filtered water are available, and booze of course, as well as free cigarettes to those who want them. We tried three of the four a-la-carte restaurants and they were great. The foods were very exotic and unique. A concern of ours was the cockroaches. These can be a problem in any warm climate, but we left no food/drinks out in our room and never saw any. As for sewage pumped in the Ocean, which is done in Canada and other countries as well, wasn't a concern of mine nor did I see it happening. The water was warm and clear. A few minor glitches here and there, and a few pesky salespeople at the resort did not take away from our vacation. Overall for a 3.5 star resort and $700 this was just great. ps. neither of us got sick, simply by watching our intake of fruits, juices and alcohol, all of which are diuretics.
loved it

The resort itself was very nice...some maintenance required here and there but they're on Dominican time folks!!! Besides concidering the poverty ppl live in we were living the life...the view was spectacular! The off resort tours were a bit pricy but totally worth the experience. Our rep from Go Travel Direct was great. He gave us the low down of the resort and what to do and not do. He told us Luperon Village was safe to walk to and it was...the ppl were very friendly to tourists and you also got to see the way they live...most have no electricity and none have hot water. But back to the tours....I love dolphins and one trip was a dolphin encounter, the other trip was a combo tour of Puerto Plata's Rum Factory, Amber Museum and Sosua Beach. The vendors on the beach were a little pushy but ya gotta understand the most they make is $2 U.S./Day!!! We couldn't live off that, so I don't blame them for being pushy just ignore them or say No Pesos (no money) and they won't bother you. The food was my only concern, most of the Ottawa tour was ill including myself for the last 3 days of the trip. We were only there for 7 days so it ruined the rest of my trip. I've lived with locals in a third world country for two months eating and drinking the same water and food and wasn't sick once....there was definetly something in the food or water at Luperon! I've never felt so sick in all my life! I saw the Doctor who works for the resort twice and he claims we all had 'travellers diarrhea'....I don't believe that for a second and besides he was hired to work at the resort so he's not going to blame the resort. My advice....if you get sick, voice yourself so ppl will know to speak up and hopefully something will be done to prevent further illness to ppl travelling...it's no fun being sick when you're on VACATION!!! That's what sick time is for.
A Good Review!!!!

My wife and I were at Luperon from Jan 17, 04- Jan 24, 04'. We had a great time. We read reviews from this website that were less than appealing. I truly did not see any major problems. The staff were nice, the food was fine, & the weather was great. So it's a litlle old... big deal! You're going there for a break, and for the hot weather. From what I understand, this place was originally 2 resorts that have been turned into one. 5 swimming pools, at least 4 restaurants (other than the buffets), and plenty of activities. After reading some of the reviews, we were a little nervous about our trip. However, we noticed that there was no sewage floating in the ocean, I did not see any roaches, and our room was quite clean. The things that weren't great were the salespeople trying to have us pre-sign for future vacations, and the amount of bargaining that I had to go through from the vendors. Other than that, don't be intimidated... it's a nice spot.
I thought it was great!

I went there in September 2002 with my boyfriend and thought it was a really relaxing and beautiful place. The room may not have been 5* luxury, but it had everything we needed. We had an initial problem with the airconditionning leaking, but when we reported it someone came at once and fixed it. As for the food, I don't know why people are complaining, it was basically fine, yes some food did keep appearing, but there was so much choice every night in the main restaurant that you could always find something different to eat. Two of the special themed restaurants were a bit dodgy but we avoided those and the rest were really nice. I especially liked the lunches when you could get fresh pizza and barbeque snacks to eat walking along the beach...I recommend anyone going should choose all-inclusive coz it completely takes the hassle out of everything and you can wander around eating and drinking all day long...be careful of the rum though its really really strong stuff!! The resort was quite quiet when we went because it was September which was quite nice as the beach is not that long and otherwise I can imagine the facilities get overcrowded. As it was the beach was as white and beautiful as any advertised on the south of the island. The staff were all really friendly and really made an effor to put on entertainments for the guests every night. Even with so few people there at the time, we still managed to have a laugh with the usual humiliations of karaoke! As for the locals arriving on Saturday, it was nice because there were so few of us the rest of the week they brought a bit of excitment and life into the resort. None of them were ill-behaved as some reviewer seemed to suggest. Its also definately worth going on a few excursions inland to see the amazing tropical environment and get a feel for local life. There are just a few things I want to complain about. Firstly we discovered that there were nasty sharp rocks lying under the water. Unfortunately only a small section of the sea wasn't covered by these rocks and they were filled with sea urchins. This made it hard to swim into the water and relax, I even got a sea urchin in my foot just by walking on the beach which ruined the last week of my holiday. Another downside is that although you could hire windsurfing and body-boarding equipement, its not really worth it as there are no real swells to ride and don't bother paying for an expensive snorkelling trip around the bay as there is not much to see. Instead go on an excursion to one of the sandbanks lying off the coast where you can really see some amazing fish.
what a load of rubbish , i was should it saying it was a family holiday the only entertainment was at night which lasted all of 2 hours or if you want to keep fit all-day , child's disco was 8.30 pm until 9pm that was as far as kids entertainment went!. the hotel is... more
