we stayed at the luperon from 23/07 to 06/08, there were 7 in our group with three teenagers aged 14,15 and 17. It was our first visit to the Domenican Republic and we were not disappointed at all, the hotel has really good all inclusive features, horse riding, archery, table tennis, banana boat ride (although quite short)tennis and basket ball to name but a few. The cocktail list is superb and again free, no complaints about the food, NO one could go hungry at the Luperon, in fact be prepared to put on weight as they even start cooking again when the disco opens at 11pm! If I had to say anything negative about the luperon I would say the fact that from Friday to Sunday the hotel is booked with the Locals which in turn means the disco plays nothing but Latin Amercan music and no English! We went to Ocean World and done the dolphin encounter which was great,we also went out on quad bikes to a private beach which was out of this world. Dont bother getting Domenican pesetos as everyone wants Dollars! All in all dont listen to the rubbish reviews its a great place and good value for money.

we arrived at the hotel the was the room wasnt the same as the picture shown in the brochure completly different the maintaince men dont have a clue how to fix things we had a leak in the room when we where out on a trip he came put his hand on the wall and said it was fixed. the rep was rubbish all she said was that never happend before. we meet a few ppl they had problems an they didnt like the rep for the same reasons and u have to watch the cheifs cook the food because the chicken is pink in the middle and they picked the raw chicken up with the same tongs they cook them with and the other meats aswell. you have to watch the locals they push you out he way for the food and they are really arregant this is only at the weekend your best of booking the al-acarte on the weekend.

Just back from Luperon on honeymoon, and loved every minute ! Lovely suite that was kept immaculate and 2 small maintainence issues attended to immediately.
Food was fantastic, though a bit of a cattle market at the weekends.
Suggestions for improvement though !
Get rid of the timeshare guys (VIP Club) they are a consant pain
The resort shops were expensive
The excursions were expensive and spent almost as much time taking you to shops after watching Cigars/ Rum /being made.
I appreciate that the local economy depends on such excursions, but a sense of urgency is required with regards to the rip off "Looky looky cheapy cheapy" vendors.
I loved my holiday at Luperon beach and I'm very grateful to the staff, but doubt that i would return in preference for a cruise or better value resort.
I had seen the negative feedback prior to arrival but if your booked to go, be assured this is a lovely resort, but just remember to book the alacarte restaurant on friday and saturday.

Im 13, 12 when i went last year. It'll be the 3rd time in a row this year.Luperon is great. Im going again in 3 weeks:)The food, animation team, activities, staff, everything was great:)Its really hot at miday and you might want to wear some waterproof shoes when you go in the sea incase you stand on a sea urchin. Trust me, been there, dont wanna go back!:S.Lol.
Special thanks to the kids club rep sue. She really was great. She was like an older sister to me. If anyones been there since april, can you email me and let me know who the kids club reps are this year please. Sues meant to be there again and another rep. Please let me know.
The meals were great and there is lots of diffrent choices. The pools were clean apart from oviously the leaves that are 'bound' to fall in. Bars great. Staff great. Everything was great!

arrived on the 27th June, staying there for 2 weeks with my boyfriend. We had read plenty of reviews about the hotel before arrival, some mixed but mostly very good.
We was really impressed upon arrival to the reosrt, the place was so nice, it was clean, well kept gardens and so beautiful. Our room was basic but all that you needed, kept clean everyday, beds made floors cleaned , towels changed, what more could you ask for. We had a room exactly what we asked for high floor beach view, it was great, all air conditioned, and we needed it. The food was amazing, we though there would not be alot we liked, there was too much we liked in the end, we could not get enough on our plates. They catered for all tastes, there wa fresh meat, fish salads, fruits, cakes and fresh breads, so much choice it was so good, and while we wa there i dont re-call having the same foods on at all, there was always something different. The beach bar and snack bar was also good for lunches with the fresh stonebaked pizzas, burgers, fish, chips, hotdogs, chicken and loads of salad anf fruits. The pools were great, the beach was fantastic, and not over crowded at all.
Over all i cannot praise this holiday enough, it was more than we expected, it is rated a 3 star but i would rate it more like a 4 star, it has great facilites, there is plenty to do, there is even horse riding you can book, the hotel has its own horses there, we went twice it was good fun and a nice hack out on them.
There is a good choice of trips to do also, we went on a mega trucks and also to the the ocean worls, i would recommend both, they are a great day out, the mega trucks you get to see the real dominican, on a big ex army truck, do some horse riding, visit local cigar businesses and see how the locals really live, great day out.
Ocean world, well what a great day, dolphins, sharks, sea lions, birds tigers there all there and you can do so much, take plenty of money though as there is loads of photos to be done and buy of you with the animals, there great.
Flights were great, in flight entertainment witht the Thomas Cook was better than i thought.
So overall i would recommend highly this resort, especially if like us you want a quite relaxing holiday.

Arrival and Flight: Friday June 13th delayed four hours apparently first time this year any delay to this destination has occurred Airline was Monarch, as I expected entertainment on the flight was very basic as opposed to Thomas Cook flight we took to Cuba last year which was exceptional.
Rooms: Basic but clean and adequate. Maid service every day and thorough and efficient.
Restaurants: Main restaurant buffet style good selection of tasty food for Breakfast and evening meal will suit everyone except the faddiest who will never be happy. There are three snack bars near the bar on the beach serving delicious Pizza, battered fish and French fries, various pastas different on different days, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Fried Chicken, all available with salads. There is also a choice of delicious tropical fruits and ice cream for anyone just wanting a light lunch. The buffet restaurant is also open at lunchtime but we did not try it as we were on the beach every day. There is also an a la carte restaurant which each guest can book twice a week with different theme nights every night. Service is good plenty of wine topped up as fast as you drink it and the food is tasty and well presented.
Bars :Beach bars and Pool bars open until 5pm main bar open all day service is good
Beach and Pools : Pools three in total large pools deepest 1.5 mtres clean and well kept.
Grounds: Flora and Fauna absolutely beautiful and well maintained all around the resort, tropical plants you would never see in the UK
Activities and Entertainment: Bit of a letdown the nightly entertainment consisted mainly on audience participation therefore holiday makers entertaining holidaymakers. The animation team seemed to have little individual professional talent other than Latin dancing which they were very good at. Activities all throughout the day but entertainment team struggle to get participants as most people just want to chill out.
Tours: Not a huge variety that suited us but there would be at least one tour to suit individual tastes.
Departure and Check Out: Like check in fast and efficient by hotel reception remember to hand back in your beach/pool towels and exchange it for a receipt card as you need it to get a clearance chitty before departure.
Conclusion: This was listed as a three star hotel taking into account food, service, facilities, and staff I would rate it as a three star plus. The weather for the fortnight was excellent blue sky every day heavy shower only once lasted 15 minutes. I would have no doubts about recommending the Luperon Beach Resort to anyone but of course people have different levels of expectations and probably would not suit the fussier holidaymaker who generally expect five stars for a three star cost holiday. The time we were there the hotel was well under occupied which meant there was no problem getting sun beds on the beach or around the pool (although there was still the odd [--] who got up early in the morning to put their towel on a sunbed probably never returning that day) The only time it was busy was Friday until Sunday when the hotel does short term breaks and the hotel fills with local Dominicans for the three days but the services took the extra guests well within their stride and coped well. There is a ten-dollar entry tax landing at the airport and twenty-dollar exit tax so make sure you take American dollars as my sister in law did not and they do not accept sterling at immigration. They accept dollars in the airport shops and in the resorts so that would be the preferred currency to take although you would get your change in Dominican Pecos. Remember your Dominican Pecos are no good any ware except in the Dominican Republic so use them all up before departure. You will notice on the main departure days the staff are even friendlier and go around singing as you prepare to leave (hint hint) so go on give them a good tip they are worth it and you had little else to spend your money on.

Amazing holiday, loved every minute.
The staff were awesome and I had a great time. The cleaner (a very nice lady who couldn't really speak much english) was excellent, gave a thorough job every day (sometimes twice a day) and never once complained. Always knocked and left if you was in the room, coming back later when you'd left. Only 1 complaint, I had an ant infestation but the staff came and re-roomed me and sorted the problem immediately. It wasn't really their fault and I was impressed with how they handled it. Word of warniing, if your arriving at the hotel between 3 and 6pm, you may not be able to get food but there is a couple of shops in the resort where you can buy crisps and chocolate.
Excellent holiday
Goin again July 2009!!

Absolutley Loved this holiday was fab, beautiful weather beautiful friendly people, good choice of food, lots to do if u take money for trips or alternativley you can just sit by the pool/beach to chill out. Good night time entertainment with the fab animacion team who go out thier way to entertain you, although if u aren't a very outgoing person who enjoys a bit of banter then they wont make the effort with you all the time:D!!
Me & my boyfriend went last year and are going back the same time this year along to meet the couples we met there.
This holiday is well recomended by all of us although not to families with young kids as it does tend to get very hot here, also as we never really saw anything for kids there.
Disco at night with good music and good atmosphere. And also food waiting for u wen your hungry and on your way home from the disco, ideal!
Just talking about it i cant wait to go back!!!!!
Never mind those bad reviews you read below its all rubbish
Fair enough we had ants in our room and had to get moved but why let something so cynical spoil a perfect holiday?! The room we were moved to was much better!
Its not as if the customer service and food and entertainment didnt make up for things like that.
So book up & enjoy we did and thats why we're going back x

Stayed at Luperon Beach 28th April to 7th May. Before going i wasn't expecting too much after reading all the bad reviews. I seriously think they were writing about the wrong hotel! I went with my girlfriend (we are a young couple) and i can safely say this is an amazing place.
It is in a great location and the place is kept very well. You always see cleaners looking after the place. Beach was very nice too however sea was a bit rough as it is still the Atlantic (not too cold though). Weather was very good, started off a bit cloudy, had 1 day of rain, and the rest of the holiday we never saw a cloud. However if it is a cloudy day don't think you can get away with no suncream as we both made this mistake on the first day and burnt like hell! Prickly heat and sunburn for the next 3 days which was a huge downer as we couldn't enjoy these days so don't make the same mistake we did (the sun is 70% stronger in dominican so it gets you through the clouds).
Anyway, the room was ok, maybe a little dated, but don;t let that put you off (you don't go on holiday to stay in a room so who cares). You get free a/c which is very powerful and satalleite tv. We experienced a few power cuts whilst there however that's common.
The hotel has three main pools. We stayed at the 1 with the swim up bar and the waterfalls. Again very clean, and handy with the bar ;-) Water not heated however warms up by midday (it gets so hot you need the water cool).
For food we always went to the buffet resteraunt. Did get a bit boring however they have lots of selections and different things every day. Very good chefs. There is a few other resteraunts such as a specialty one which has a differnt theme each night such as brazillian, italien etc however you had to book this and we was told it wasn't very good so we never bothered.
Staff around the resort were very friendly and all speak good english.
If i had to say anything negative it would be the l;ast weekend we were there when it was domincan republic's bank holiday and the place was well over crowded by loud Dominicans who were always pushing in and getting served first at the bars. but i guess they have to have holidays too!
Anyway back on to the good bits. During our stay we did two of the excursions. The first being Paradise Island trip where you take a speed boat to a little island in the Atlantic that is surrounded by a coral reef where you can snorkel around in the warm crystal waters. Great trip however this was on the day we had the bad weather which a put a bit of a downer on it however we still enjoyed it. The last excursion we did was Ocean World...This is a place you HAVE to visit especialy if you have kids. The place is mainly visited by people wanting to swim with dolphins which is what we did. It is expensive at around £80 per adult however it is well worth it (if you like extremely clever tame dolphins). There is a very good dolphin and shark show and there are other things to do there too. A great day out.
So that's about it for this review, please don;t let the bad reviews put you off this amazing place! We travelled with Sunset Thomas Cook and the rep was very helpful. The flights with them weren't too bad either, decent leg room and a tv in the back of every seat.
Feel free to ask me any questions about this place. Hope you have a good time if you are going!

Excellent Holiday, at a Lovely resort.
Very friendly staff, and lovely food with the all inclusive deal.
Basic room, but you spend most of your time going on trips or doing activities or laying on the beach so that doesnt matter.
Had 2 days of rain which was disapointing but other wise it was 30C the rest of the time with plently of sun shine.
Very strong cocktails, very very nice!

We go to this hotel every year and will be returning in feb 2009. The room has always been fine, although once when we arrived, the toilet was blocked. It was about 2am so we reported it at reception ,used the "public toilets" and went to bed. A young man came around at 8am and fixed it.
The food is fine,,,lovely omlettes at breakfast. There is always a huge joint of meat on offer,if it isn't cooked enpugh for your liking, then all you have to do is say so!!! simple as that!
We had a bit of rust around the bath,so what! you must remember that the poor lad who comes to fix it lives in much worse conditions than this.
As for the "locals" .If you took the time to learn a bit of spanish you would find out that they come from all over latin America and are very friendly.I love the weekends and have never had a problem.
We go to one of the barmaids house for supper while we are there and also went to a birthday BBQ one sunday . That is how to see the "real Dominicans".That was an experience that money just can't buy.
As for going to Steves Bar in Luperon,,,,,NO WAY, far too expensive, just go to any of the dominican run bars , it costs about a quarter of the cost. 12 peso for a litre of presidente!
Above all, learn some spanish, treat the staff with some respect, remember where you are and dont brag about what you have or heven't got back at home, keep away from the moaning brigade and you should have a good holliday.
