Luperon Beach Resort Hotel Reviews
" Relaxing Holiday "
Submitted By: Debbie GatnerThe food selection was awesome in the buffet & there is only 1 alacarte restaurant for which our meals in it were awesome! The downfalls are that you need to take your own facecloths as they don't have any such thing. You need to take your own hairdryer & the pillows are like sleeping on rocks. As for going back we would most definitely go back for the sun, beach & relaxation!
Advice: In deed I would!
Activities: We did the catamaran excursion & had a blast, we highly recommend it.
Good for: Beach

" My Holiday to Luperon Beach Resort, Dominican Republic "
Submitted By: charlottewood25The food was great with lots of choice and there was something for everyone! The pools and rooms are generally always clean, and there were never any problems with the pools. The room I stayed in got flooded but we were removed from there immediately and changed block. The people that work there make you feel really welcome, and coming back to England has made me realise how good it was.
I miss the animation team including; Jory, Felix, Mario, Blondie! and my holiday lover Felix<3

" Me and my friend loved this holiday... "
Submitted By: Miss Hannah Mit was an 18th birthday prezzie to myself and i couldnt ask for more.
i dont think i could complain about anything.
all the people that are complaining about the food ... clearly they do not know hat they are talking about.
every night the buffet is different. there is more than enough choise there. But if you feel the need you can vist one of the resturants.
we stayed for 2 weeks and there were only 2 power cuts while we were there. nothing major as they only lasted a matter of minuets.
I will be going back next year and i can not wait.
this place is fantasic.
just to help here are some helpful tips
=]
1) go easy on the pina coladas, the coconut milk is a natural laxitive.
2) Ladies, dont go topless by the pool areas, other guests tend to stare at you and become very rude.
3) an american plug adaptor works here. the sockets are a funny shape but the adaptor does work. Dont buy one from the shops.
4) be friendly to the staff. they are no harm what-so-ever.
5) Use a few spanish words, it helps.
6) do take full advantage of the AI drinks/food. the drinks are served in a NORMAL size cup. if you want more go and get more. dont complain that the glasses are too small.
7) limit sun exposure... i was burnt on my shoulders using factor 50. (2nd week i used tanning oil and didnt burn once) (Y)
8) Do talk to the reps, they are a laugh.
9) If you want to phone home, use a talk card.. its 20 dollars .. It will last for about 3 hours if you ring a LANDLINE number HOWEVER if you ring a MOBILE number it will last for maybe an hour at the most.
10) book this hotel and enjoy. its a beautiful place and i really cant wait to go back.

Submitted By: Mr Allan HawxbyHere you would be expected to tip the driver($2) for negotiating the most collection of nutters on the road we had ever seen over the past hour and a half, and also tip the bloke ($2) who moved your case from the bus to the hotel entrance, about 3 feet.
At check-in you will be given a room key and also have to pay for a room safe key (recommended) for all your valuables, passport rings etc...
A porter will load your cases onto a sack barrow and take you and your cases to your room where you would be expected to tip him.
The room was basic but clean and tidy, two double beds, bedside tables, dressing table and a TV.
The maid comes in every day to make the bed and tidy up and mop the floor, we left her 2-3 dollars on the bed every day which they really appreciate, when we left we gave her $10.
The bathroom was clean and everything worked, but the bath took a lifetime to empty as I think the u bend was probably blocked with sand, then the shower hose split, we informed the reception twice to get it fixed each time saying they were sending someone straight away but no one arrived, we contacted the Thomas Cook rep who had it sorted within the hour so any problems go to the rep.
All the accommodation is in blocks with a big number over the entrance so you can’t miss it, we were in block 16 on the south side of the complex which we decided was the best block to be in if you wanted a peaceful holiday, as you went further north the bars had a bit more going on with loud music and the nutty animation crew.
The beech was about 20 meters from our door along with a very large swimming pool and two bars and the snack bars.
The beech at first looked a bit scruffy but this was due to the palm trees and some other trees that had bunches of what looked liked hard green grapes hanging from them but they were not grapes, they fell onto the sand then turned black and there were thousands of them.
There is a small section of the water that you are advised to swim in which is marked by a line of floating buoys, if you swim outside this area you may encounter rocks and spiky sea urchins so be careful.
The rest of the beech is about 300 meters in length with outcrops of smooth rocks and white coral.
The beech has plenty of sun beds and sunshades, we had no problem getting shade at all and there were always plenty of beds.
Along the side of the beech is path that runs from one end of the complex to the other with paths running off to all the blocks, but unfortunately along the path are wooden hut things full of tat being sold by the cheapy cheapy men who constantly pester you to buy the stuff at an extortionate rate. If you do want to buy anything knock them down to at least a third of what they originally asked for, if they won’t come down walk away and they will soon change their mind and ask if you are from the Mafia (joking) then they will give you your quality goods in a Tesco carrier bag? Don’t know how they get them.
The restaurant is at the top side of the complex, quite large with plenty of tables with a buffet style scope out whatever you want from the heated trays, and there was usually a couple of chiefs also cooking specials to order.
There was also plenty of salad and puddings but unfortunately they were all open and the flies always beat you to it so that was a bit off putting.
On the whole i thought the food was pretty good but they did seem to have a problem cooking stakes, pork as they were always a bit tuff and chewy but maybe that’s the way they like it.
There are a few odd things like hot mashed banana and fried aubergines but this was not England so be prepared you won’t get roast beef and Yorkshire puddings.
The waiters will serve you drinks (looking for a tip) or you can help yourself.
When you leave the restaurant after breakfast you will be accosted by men in white T Shirts with Luperon Beech in gold on the front, they will start out with saying something like “Hello nice family, where are you from, who did you get your holiday with, how would you like to come again half price” Hey sounds good! STOP they are time share sellers for the complex but they call it VIP.
Some of them try and play on your good nature by saying “if i don’t get anyone to come by boss will sack me, and i have a family to feed bla bla bla, its all tosh. You will have to be firm and say no thanks and keep walking, don’t stop unless you want a time share, or are prepared to waste an hour and a half of your life.
There is entertainment on during the day and evening run by the animation team who are all very enthusiastic but very amateurish when they start singing and dancing, it reminded me straight away of the first few weeks of the X Factor when all the bad ones are on, but i give them top marks for effort especially Felix with the funny hair who is may have escaped from the local loony bin, find him and say ”Don’t worry my friend nothing is coming” he will know what you mean, and who told you.
The drinks seemed pretty good with a cocktail list of about 30 different ones even though about half always seemed to look and taste like tequila sunrise?
The beer (larger) and everything else is served in small plastic cups of about 2 good mouth full’s, so what allot of people do (we did) is buy a thermal mug from the shop at a cost of about £5 and get your drinks in them and as they have a lid it stops unwanted flying things getting in, if you have them already find a space in your case and take them.
As for flying things, mosquitoes and midges are in abundance along with their hunger for human blood, we slapped on the repellent but these things seem to have been weaned on it as it did not seem to scare them off.
I don’t usually get touched by the things at all but they got me the first night round my ankles, so after that i wore socks and plastered myself with as much repellent as i could.
We took the plug in mozzy killers for the room but they seemed to be immune to them as well, so we would wake up the next morning with a few extra lumps and bumps.
We took some Piriton tablets which seemed to help with reducing the reaction mainly itching and swelling of the bites so that would be recommended.
Security seems pretty good with guards with big sticks around all day and night watching who is going in and out of the accommodation blocks, there are also some guards with guns but that is quite normal for the country.
We felt safe all the time and had no problems with the locals.
On a Friday afternoon there seemed to be an influx of locals who got a bit noisy over the weekend in the pools but nothing drastic.
The evenings after around 19.00 get very humid and sticky so leave the aircon on all the time in the room and the doors shut.
Te complex staff are busy all the time cleaning and maintaining the stunning gardens with ponds stocked with fish and Pink Flamingos, and the numerous Peacocks which will eat from your hand.
Points to note:
1. The currency is Dominican Pecos but they like US Dollars, if you take travellers cheques you will get Pecos not Dollars when you cash them.
2. Take as many low denomination notes as you can for tips.
3. If you buy anything you may get your change in goods i.e. sweets not money.
4. The voltage is 110volts so check anything electrical you may be taking, phone chargers, portable DVD players etc...
5. No hair dryers in the rooms but you can hire one for 24 hours, take a travel one if you have one, or go bald like me.
6. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room which we missed first thing, if we had realised this we would have taken a travel kettle.
7. Take a thermal mug with lid about £2 here for your drinks, keeps the flies out and keeps the drink cold.
8. The sun is very strong so we started with factor 50 cream and did not go lower than factor 30 and we came home with a good tan.
9. Antihistamine tablets, Piriton etc.
10. Take a torch as power cuts are the norm.
11. You will need $10 to get in to the country along with an entry slip to fill in which your cabin crew should give you on the plane, and $20 to get out so have that separate and don’t spend it, and a slip to say your leaving which your rep should give you along with a customs slip for things you may be taking out of the country.
12. I recommend using the VIP lounge at the airport for $25 each which you get sandwiches and crisps four alcoholic drinks, and as much soft drinks as you want. The lounge has comfy chairs and is air-conditioned. This can be pre-booked with your rep.
13. Flight around 10 hours there and 7 back to Manchester.
In summary we totally enjoyed the holiday complete with Hurricane Hanna and Ike who called past on its way to Cuba.
We are thinking of going the same time next year as the place was less than a ¼ full after the summer holidays in the UK.
We thought it was a great place and good value.
We booked on line with Thomas Cook and saved £680 for four adults with two rooms.
If i can help anymore please contact me.

Submitted By: Mr A GreenhalghThe food is fine,,,lovely omlettes at breakfast. There is always a huge joint of meat on offer,if it isn't cooked enpugh for your liking, then all you have to do is say so!!! simple as that!
We had a bit of rust around the bath,so what! you must remember that the poor lad who comes to fix it lives in much worse conditions than this.
As for the "locals" .If you took the time to learn a bit of spanish you would find out that they come from all over latin America and are very friendly.I love the weekends and have never had a problem.
We go to one of the barmaids house for supper while we are there and also went to a birthday BBQ one sunday . That is how to see the "real Dominicans".That was an experience that money just can't buy.
As for going to Steves Bar in Luperon,,,,,NO WAY, far too expensive, just go to any of the dominican run bars , it costs about a quarter of the cost. 12 peso for a litre of presidente!
Above all, learn some spanish, treat the staff with some respect, remember where you are and dont brag about what you have or heven't got back at home, keep away from the moaning brigade and you should have a good holliday.

Submitted By: Mr G DonlonFood was fantastic, though a bit of a cattle market at the weekends.
Suggestions for improvement though !
Get rid of the timeshare guys (VIP Club) they are a consant pain
The resort shops were expensive
The excursions were expensive and spent almost as much time taking you to shops after watching Cigars/ Rum /being made.
I appreciate that the local economy depends on such excursions, but a sense of urgency is required with regards to the rip off "Looky looky cheapy cheapy" vendors.
I loved my holiday at Luperon beach and I'm very grateful to the staff, but doubt that i would return in preference for a cruise or better value resort.
I had seen the negative feedback prior to arrival but if your booked to go, be assured this is a lovely resort, but just remember to book the alacarte restaurant on friday and saturday.

Submitted By: Miss C FoxWe was really impressed upon arrival to the reosrt, the place was so nice, it was clean, well kept gardens and so beautiful. Our room was basic but all that you needed, kept clean everyday, beds made floors cleaned , towels changed, what more could you ask for. We had a room exactly what we asked for high floor beach view, it was great, all air conditioned, and we needed it. The food was amazing, we though there would not be alot we liked, there was too much we liked in the end, we could not get enough on our plates. They catered for all tastes, there wa fresh meat, fish salads, fruits, cakes and fresh breads, so much choice it was so good, and while we wa there i dont re-call having the same foods on at all, there was always something different. The beach bar and snack bar was also good for lunches with the fresh stonebaked pizzas, burgers, fish, chips, hotdogs, chicken and loads of salad anf fruits. The pools were great, the beach was fantastic, and not over crowded at all.
Over all i cannot praise this holiday enough, it was more than we expected, it is rated a 3 star but i would rate it more like a 4 star, it has great facilites, there is plenty to do, there is even horse riding you can book, the hotel has its own horses there, we went twice it was good fun and a nice hack out on them.
There is a good choice of trips to do also, we went on a mega trucks and also to the the ocean worls, i would recommend both, they are a great day out, the mega trucks you get to see the real dominican, on a big ex army truck, do some horse riding, visit local cigar businesses and see how the locals really live, great day out.
Ocean world, well what a great day, dolphins, sharks, sea lions, birds tigers there all there and you can do so much, take plenty of money though as there is loads of photos to be done and buy of you with the animals, there great.
Flights were great, in flight entertainment witht the Thomas Cook was better than i thought.
So overall i would recommend highly this resort, especially if like us you want a quite relaxing holiday.

" Arrival and Flight: Friday June 13th... "
Submitted By: Mr J CuthbertRooms: Basic but clean and adequate. Maid service every day and thorough and efficient.
Restaurants: Main restaurant buffet style good selection of tasty food for Breakfast and evening meal will suit everyone except the faddiest who will never be happy. There are three snack bars near the bar on the beach serving delicious Pizza, battered fish and French fries, various pastas different on different days, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Fried Chicken, all available with salads. There is also a choice of delicious tropical fruits and ice cream for anyone just wanting a light lunch. The buffet restaurant is also open at lunchtime but we did not try it as we were on the beach every day. There is also an a la carte restaurant which each guest can book twice a week with different theme nights every night. Service is good plenty of wine topped up as fast as you drink it and the food is tasty and well presented.
Bars :Beach bars and Pool bars open until 5pm main bar open all day service is good
Beach and Pools : Pools three in total large pools deepest 1.5 mtres clean and well kept.
Grounds: Flora and Fauna absolutely beautiful and well maintained all around the resort, tropical plants you would never see in the UK
Activities and Entertainment: Bit of a letdown the nightly entertainment consisted mainly on audience participation therefore holiday makers entertaining holidaymakers. The animation team seemed to have little individual professional talent other than Latin dancing which they were very good at. Activities all throughout the day but entertainment team struggle to get participants as most people just want to chill out.
Tours: Not a huge variety that suited us but there would be at least one tour to suit individual tastes.
Departure and Check Out: Like check in fast and efficient by hotel reception remember to hand back in your beach/pool towels and exchange it for a receipt card as you need it to get a clearance chitty before departure.
Conclusion: This was listed as a three star hotel taking into account food, service, facilities, and staff I would rate it as a three star plus. The weather for the fortnight was excellent blue sky every day heavy shower only once lasted 15 minutes. I would have no doubts about recommending the Luperon Beach Resort to anyone but of course people have different levels of expectations and probably would not suit the fussier holidaymaker who generally expect five stars for a three star cost holiday. The time we were there the hotel was well under occupied which meant there was no problem getting sun beds on the beach or around the pool (although there was still the odd [--] who got up early in the morning to put their towel on a sunbed probably never returning that day) The only time it was busy was Friday until Sunday when the hotel does short term breaks and the hotel fills with local Dominicans for the three days but the services took the extra guests well within their stride and coped well. There is a ten-dollar entry tax landing at the airport and twenty-dollar exit tax so make sure you take American dollars as my sister in law did not and they do not accept sterling at immigration. They accept dollars in the airport shops and in the resorts so that would be the preferred currency to take although you would get your change in Dominican Pecos. Remember your Dominican Pecos are no good any ware except in the Dominican Republic so use them all up before departure. You will notice on the main departure days the staff are even friendlier and go around singing as you prepare to leave (hint hint) so go on give them a good tip they are worth it and you had little else to spend your money on.

Advice: Great relaxing holiday abit of the beaten track.
Activities: The Beach
