" watch out there is a rep about "

The wife and I go to Malta Salina Wharf every year sometime twice a year. As I have read in reveiws the reps at Salina Wharf are very misleading and hold you to ransom to try to make you upgrade or buy extra weeks before you can book or purchase a bonus week. This makes it hard to plan next years holiday. Any promises a rep make must be in writing, as after payment they have a memory lap.
That is the down side. The upside is the complex is very well run the staff are helpful and polite. One can not fault the cleaneness. The apartment are cleaned 6 days a week. Salina Wharf is well placed for shops taxis buses bars and beach. The food and drink at Salina Wharf is more expensive than the bars outside but a good service and good food can be had at Salina Wharf. I think the moral of the story is forget the reps and enjoy your holiday.

Advice: Not the best place in Malta but easy to travel from

Activities: boat trip to comnio and day out in gozo

Good for: Beach

" Excellent care "

There was a problem with the size of accommodation booked. Debbie did the best she could but we were in the wrong size apartment for the first week. We were upgraded yo a superior apartment for the second week. We found the complex clean, tidy, quiet and totally relaxing. Plenty of sun beds and plenty of really pleasant Guest & Staff.I had an accident the day before I was due to fly home and ended up in hospital for 4 days. My friends had to fly home, so I was on my own. Gillian and mostly Debbie were great. Gillian made a documentation of the problem. When I was discharged from hospital Salina Wharf sent a taxi for me to the hospital, gave me a room to have a sleep, freshen up and get changed in. Debbie also book me a flight home on the Internet. Got me coffee and offered food. They then booked me a taxi to take me to the airport. All I can say is 20 out of 10 for Service, Kindness &^ consideration. Beyond the call. I have told Debbie she has restored my faith in human nature. I would recommend anyone to go to Salina Wharf.

Advice: Lively. Plenty of shops, bars & restaurants

Activities: Sightseers paradise everywhere. Best bar Simons Bar. Best eat out Quanderos Coffee House

" Noise & poor facilities "

Do not expect any privacy at Club Salina Wharf. There is no sound insulation between the apartments. We were woken one morning thinking there was someone in our kitchen doing their washing up - it was next door. The dishcloths are pieces of old towel ripped into squares & not even hemmed. Do not try the barbeque - undercooked food, tired salad and indifferent staff. We will never go again. Be careful about parking, we were given a ticket opposite the resort.

" Relaxing Holiday "

Peoples perspective on a holiday seem to differ in all aspects and the reviews will have to be read according to this , some people come from a bedsit, empty old houses, block of flats or posh houses, some live by themselves and some are large family members , some save all year and others have the money, others work and some dont, some pay a lot and others dont so i believe reviews have to be read in conjunction with this in mind. ( a single poor person in a block of flats looking at four walls etc )
We stayed at the club salina wharf in January 2009, this was a very wet month and it rained half of our holiday. Despite this we were able to ensure we still had a compact holiday.
The hotel is RCI affiliated we were able to purchase weeks at the resort and upgrade our current status by a well presented knowledgable member of staff.
The rooms come well furnished with Satelite TVs, phones, cookers, fridge, microwaves, and well equipt bathrooms. Cleaning is done on a rotor basis by the maid and the rooms are very spacious depending on what area of the hotel you stay.
The complex has facilities for long stay winter breaks, on our visit we met couples who were staying at the resort from Nov to march so their presence for this long period is testimonial recommendation in itself .
The local bus stop to the main areas of the island is about 10 minutes slow walk. The sea is about 5 minutes walk away. The area is locally central to many bars and short walking distances to other hotels and clubs.
The club is in the process of being upgraded with plans to expand its facilities. There is no computer wifi however computers are available in the reception should the need be to send and receive mail etc.
The club has a indoor bar come restaurant which serves well presented food, snacks and meals at very reasonable prices.
We have found some members criticise some of the facilities and complaining all the time about rooms etc and we had our moans as well but the issues were addressed, maybe had others taken the time to present their views to the staff then their matters may well of been addressed also instead of complaining to other members.
Some facilities like outside swimming pool were closed due to the season and for cleaning.
HOT WATER , yes well it would of been nice if we had it all the time but we didnt, most rooms never had problems but we did, we complained and were advised they were aware of the problem, unusually enough the problem was soon resolved but it still came and went during our visit but this was probably because it was new accomodation.
The entertainment was limited during our visit but may of been due to us arriving out of season but what was on was found to be exciting. The old buses are a great experience and remind me of boneshakers. Valletta being the main capital can be accessed by ferry from sliema or bus and is full of an assortment of shops. Bus fares are cheap and rang from a £1 per person to the farthest point on the island, local journeys are about 50p. Day and week tickets are available from bus stations. Beaches are few and far between, the less commercialised one we use is called armier bay, well worth a visit, it is small and isolated, just what you need in busy summer months when there is actually a bus to the beach from Bugibba
Would we stay there again, well the answer is yes. we found the staff all very helpfull and can clearly see why people stay a long time, although our visit was brief compared with others we felt that we could easily of stayed longer.
We are well travelled and can rate this place high in our ratings and would recommend it.

" Excellent "

This is the third year my husband and I have been to Selina wharf and I can not fault it. The staff are all very friendly, helpful and remember you from previous stays. Am very much looking forward to my next visit in August 09.
The apartments are always to a high standard and very clean. Had two single beds last year but was changed to a double within 10 minutes of me going to reception.

Advice: Loads of nice places to eat and everyone is very friendly

Activities: The Princess Diana is a great pub the bar staff are really friendly and helpful

Good for: Beach

" My parents and I have been going to... "

My parents and I have been going to Malta ever since 1997. That year they bought timeshare at Club Salina Wharf and since then we've been going there about every 2 years. Every year we've been there so far we had to complain because of something, either bad smells in the bathroom or beds falling to bits or just plain crappy apartments with no room to move or dangerous steps in the middle and poor furnishings. The apartment we were shown when we bought the timeshare was not the one we ever got to stay in. RIP OFF!
If we complained about anything, they said they would do something but usually didn't. We had to complain every day until they did something IF they ever did anything! In the end we usually got what we wanted, even if it took the whole of our holiday.
>>HoWeVeR<<
We have had good times there and met lots of nice people, some of them had similar problems to us or even worse like damp ground floor apartments with mouldy walls.
So we've had a few laughs and somehow we keep coming back mainly because of the people we know that go there every year and new people AND the staff, especially Mario the barman and Joe the taxi driver AND the people at the reception... don't much care for the RCI reps at the resort or on the touts on the streets, they can be really annoying!!!

" we returned from this dump on the... "

we returned from this dump on the 23rd may. the whole resort is a building site. the view from the room was 3 enourmous containers full of building equipment, they are adding another 3 floors above people as they are on holiday. we were woken at 6.30 every morning by workmen arriving to work on motorbikes and in vans. the work carried on until 3 every day, we had to listen to electric saws, drills and hammers and we went out onto the balcony one morning and there was a man arc welding right outside. we ended up having to go out at 7 every day and not return until later in the day. the entertainment on the complex was a joke and the restaurant was poor. other people we met checked out midweek because they couldnt bear it. STAY AWAY!

" The facilities of this hotel are good... "

The facilities of this hotel are good but be warned,if you are allocated RCI room 325 refuse it.It is a 1 bedroomed aptm, very poor funishings and a tiny TV.The worst is that the main air conditioning machinery for the whole hotel is on the roof above your ceiling and the noise and vibration is awful all day and NIGHT.The hotel reception refered us to John a so called RCI rep who said he would try to change our room, but in the end did nothing. On return when we complained to RCI we were told that RCI do not employ any reps or any staff at any of their resorts so would not help us in any way whatever.

" Recently refurbished and looking... "

Recently refurbished and looking wonderful there is a new style bar and very good restaurant which is fairly good value for money.

Studios are quite small but good value.

Time share touts can be a real pain and spoil your holiday if you are not strong enough to say NO!, but they do pester you.

Went "out of season" so there was not a lot to do, but the island buses are cheap and you can really explore the sites quite cheaply.

At this time of year Malta seems an oasis for the elderly on long stay holidays! which is quite a change from larger louts.

Highly recommend this complex - pool area very nice and staff wonderful.

" Depending on where your room is... "

Depending on where your room is changes how you feel about this resort. We were allocated a below ground level apartment and it was very damp and smelly. When we looked around we could see damp patches all round the bedroom walls. There were two tiny windows set high up and the whole bedroom was dark and damp.

We requested a change of room and were informed that they were fully booked. The week we spent there was very unpleasant as a result.

We are very relieved that we no longer have a timeshare in Salina Wharf as we would not be coming back to this resort nor would we recommend it.

" Me, my husband and three... "

Me, my husband and three grandchildren ages: two 17 year olds and 1 eight year old have just returned from Club Salina Wwharf (16/10/07) and I must say it was one of the best self catering holidays we have had.

The apartment was out of this world luxury isn’t the word. Very clean lovely staff and room cleaners, they could not do enough for us.

Some people say they think that Qawra is dirty I don’t think that it is; it has a lot of character and this is sometimes mistaken for being unkempt.

We have owned time-share at Salina Wharf for eight years now and enjoy each visit and each visit is better than the last.

I feel quite home sick for a few weeks when I return and it usually is quite sad to leave.

" The Salina Wharf is an excellent... "

The Salina Wharf is an excellent place tp stay BUT please be warned. Some of the time-share reps try hard selling and bullying tactics to force you to upgrade your time-share. This can have a real dampener on your holiday! We spent most of our time trying to re-book for next year only to be met with UPGRADE or you cannot book till November but on returning home no July August weeks available because we wouldn't upgrade. BEWARE OF THE TIME SHARE SHARKS

" We have owned timeshare at Salina... "

We have owned timeshare at Salina Wharf since it first opened, it was the best thing we ever did.

We love the resort and the country, the people are so friendly. The area of Qawra is filled with bars and restaurants and there is plenty to do our kids often come to Malta with us as they love it too.

There are clubs and bars to keep them occupied or they meet up with other members kids that they have known now since they were all small children and all go out together.

We have been to other resorts in the RCI chain but prefer to come back to Salina Wharf as the staff make us so welcome and remember us from year to year.

The owl and cat pub in Salina Wharf is great and the staff are too, especially Mario, Jesman and Dave.

The apartments are lovely also very clean you can’t fault them, they are cleaned nearly every day and the staff are very friendly, most of the time you have the same maid from year to year.

The pool area is cleaned every day and a pool boy often comes round to see if you would like a drink etc, they could do with some more sunbeds though.

We meet up with other owners who are now our friends and we all go on the same weeks each year, we are looking forward to going back this August, it’s great.

" We had a fantastic time in Malta.... "

We had a fantastic time in Malta.

When we arrived the weather wasn't so good, so we decided to hire a car and get around the island more freely, which indeed we did.

I would recommend anyone to hire a car if possible and take the off the beaten road tracks. You can never get lost on this island as it is only 122sq miles, and the locals are more than happy to help with directions, etc.

The Apartments we stayed in we're very nice, very comfortable. The staff were very helpful and polite, and there was a great atmosphere in the bar on site.

Over all we loved Malta, and would certainly revisit the island, the way of life is so relaxed, and very civilised.
