The Eleanna is superbly positioned...
8 / 10
Sep 2007, Mr D Fidler

The Eleanna is superbly positioned right on the sandy beach and all rooms have a sea view. The upstairs apartments have a great view of the bay with its Islands and multitude of small boats. Air conditioning is very efficient and a must have in August!
Tolo is a Greek resort and the majority of visitors are from Athens so there is a slightly more Greek feel to the place compared to some places that cater more for northern Europeans.
Sunbeds on the beach a mere 50 yards south west, so leave your towel if you need a siesta during the heat of the afternoon. Some stones getting into the sea but sandy all the way out once you are up to your knees.
Lots of good places to eat. Our favourites were To Steki (on the beach 50 yards north east of Eleanna) and Romvi (again on the beach 200 yards south west); at both you can do a "Shirley Valentine" and take dinner with the sand between your toes!
40 yds up the beach access road that leads to Eleanna is the main street with a good selection of gifts shops, supermarkets, sandwiches shops, a bakery, cash machine, two chemists, and a varied selection of bars. Great atmosphere for an after dinner stroll with the necessary retail distraction.
Hiring a car gets you easy access to beautiful Nafplio, with its Venetian old town and impressive Palamidi fortress. A little further away is Mycenae and Epidavros both interesting classical sites.
The Kosmar reps were both knowledgeable and very helpful, and their organised trip to Athens well worth the money.
Our theory that the longer the transfer from the airport the more authentically Greek the resort was proved by this trip to Tolo.

This was the second time that we had...

Dec 2006, Mr C Cooper

This was the second time that we had been to Tolon and are going again in May 2007, back to the Eleanna.
It’s in the perfect position for all of the amenities. Yes the apartments are not great by any stretch of the imagination but this is Greece we're talking about. If you want uniformity then go to Spain. The restaurants are excellent, especially Marias and Santa Marias.
And the only bar you need to go to is Cafe Bar Express/Nikos, as Manoli and his mother/wife will look after you as though you are one of the family. Can't wait to go back.

Having stayed at the Eleanna for 10...

Having stayed at the Eleanna for 10 holidays, this speaks for itself. The location is brilliant.
We have been to Tolo 24 times in different apartments, but the Eleanna is the best for location.
You fall asleep with the sound of waves lapping the shore. If the weather is bad there are restaurants either side of the apartments.
Cleaning leaves a lot to be desired, but that is my opinion.

OK, so the Eleana is not the greatest...
8 / 10
Feb 2006, Mrs S Long

OK, so the Eleana is not the greatest apartment block in the world, but the location is magnificent and the sea is so safe, making it an ideal resort for children.
The only downside is the travelling time, although now that the flights have changed from night flights to Athens with about a four hour transfer, to early morning flights to Kalamata with about a two and a half hour transfer, it's got better and there are now more regional airports in the UK, which cuts down the travelling time even more. This year will be our eighth visit and for the first time we are taking our grandchildren with us.
The resort is pretty enough, although not spectacularly pretty like other Greek resorts, but the locals are extremely friendly, favourites being The Grill House, Cafe Express, The Esperando and Barbaressa. For a change, it's also nice to go round "Scary Corner" and sample some of the tavernas in New Tolo, a favourite being Hotel Christina, which, despite being an hotel, serves really nice food and is located on the beach.

We didn’t have great flights...
8 / 10
Jun 2004, hurdler

We didn’t have great flights because we had to go from Manchester and land to pick up in Newcastle but that aside we had a great holiday. The apartments were small and basic but had everything we needed. The location was unbeatable as they were centrally located and right on the beach. There were tavernas and bars on either side but any music played wasn’t too loud and stopped by about midnight. The resort isn’t the prettiest I’ve been too but the friendliness of the people more than makes up for that. You can get all you need in the resort or you can catch the bus into nafplion for a wider choice of shops. Nafplion is well worth a visit as it is a very attractive town. There is a very good selection of excursions available if you want to see the sights. We spent many enjoyable nights in the cafe express bar (nikos bar), nice atmosphere and good service from manoli and Stavros. If your looking for a really lively holiday this may not be the place for you but if you like a steadier pace it is well worth trying Tolon.
