I have to mention the food first as this was a huge part of the holiday! Starting with breakfast - a range of usual choices e.g. cereals, cooked, continental and a chef to cook your eggs the way you like them. We ate at the "snack" bar most lunchtimes, however roast... more

The problem comes alive at 7am when people are putting towels on sunbeds, which I have to say is not my idea of a relaxing break when you feel you need to rush down to the pool to get a sunbed. Left till 8.30 and forget it - nothing available and thats not fun when you... more

Beautifull! Relaxing, clean, plenty of food & drink.
Married couple 28 & 34yrs great holiday, we didnt have to leave the Hotel! Food was lovely entertainment could have been better! The pools & beach were great. The alcohol was flowing & the view was fantastic. We are coming back!!
Good holiday on Bahia Principe
We arived yesterday from Tenerife. It was a great holiday. The hotel was good, the room was excellent, the food was good. The entertainment was sometimes good but also sometimes very bad. For example the tribute to Freddy Mercury was good, but the "Miss Bahia Principe" was not good at all. It is a good place to stay.
The Best
This is without doubt the best hotel we have stayed in and we will be going back. The food, rooms, service and staff were first class. This is a chill out hotel but with enough going on to prevent you from getting bored. Excellent holiday worth all of the cost and would spend the same again without thinking about it twice. Any things to be aware of, well if you want a quiet night in the room and you are English then your TV choice is news channels or Eurosport. Also make sure you buy your phone cards from the hotel shop at 6 euros for 50 minutes and not from the reps at 12 euros. One question, why is it only the Brits that walk round wearing football shirts and the one piece of graffiti we saw scratched into the inside of a lift door was in English.
Can we go back Tomorrow
Returned from Bahia Principe on the 26th September. The only problem we found was we did not want to leave. The hotel was set in secluded location a good way from anywhere really but the brochure from Airtours makes you well aware of that before you travel. I am amazed at some of the earlier reviews as my Wife and I would have had to inspect the hotel with a fine tooth comb to come up with any faults. Staff, Fantastic and friendly Food, Really was very very good Fantastic Choice at Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, if you are that way inclined even Cava or Bloody Mary's with your breakfast. Our Room was absolutely spotless when we arrived and our Maid Suza kept it that way every single day. Entertainment was exactly as it said in the brochure so we got what we expected and that was just fine for us. Both Pool areas were kept spotless and the water was very clean, as was the snack bar next to the pool where you could just help yourself to a large selection of drinks and order a number of snacks. Our Rep from Airtours was always on site when he said he would be and he was very helpful when we needed him. Could have gone into a lot more detail but I would be writing for a week. Our advise to you is if you are after a really relaxing holiday with first class service give this Hotel a try. We will certainly be going back. Just one more point an earlier reviewer mentioned he thought the Tenerife Principe was an upgrade, we disagree, no lager louts at the Bahia when we were there.
superb
The hotel does put on a courtesy bus twice daily which satisfied need to do any shopping. If you want luxury and time to chill out this is the place to go.don't be put off by some of the previous reviews as I very nearly was worrying myself sick as to what we were going to.I would have no hesitation going back.I would give the hotel a 5* rating.
fabulous hotel - shame about the meat
We are a mature couple who have just returned (Sept. 2003). The hotel has many excellent little considerations, e.g. the minibar in your room which is restocked every day, the "self service" soft drinks and slush puppies at the pool areas, the cases being taken to your room, the a la carte restaurants, and many others too numerous to mention. The hotel is truly excellent in every way except the food, or more specifically the meat. The beef, pork, veal and turkey were all tough and/or chewy, a great shame considering the tastiness of the other dishes. It should be noted that this criticism only applies to the main restaurant and not the 3 a la cartes. The pork in the Spanish a la carte was very good. Seriously, the meat was so tough that I became a vegetarian for most of my stay. However this is the only fault that I could find, the hotel is scrupulously clean, spacious, has superb gardens, large pools, and ample sunbeds. Further the rooms are quiet, we did not hear our neighbours in the adjoining rooms at all. So I can thoroughly recommend this hotel for a completely relaxing break - it is perfect for vegetarians.
pretty marvellous
July 15th 4 adults & 2children All Inclusive What a pleasant suprise to arrive at the Bahia Principe entrance to be met by a porter to deal with our cases. The check-in was quick and very informative. It was definatly a 5-star hotel, clean and very friendly. The restaurants were excellent especially the Spanish one.the bars were busy but there was 2 tables available with spirits, cocktailsand soft drinks so you could help yourselves. The pools were good too, there was entertainment on and around them but felt that the British were left out when the organisers came round. The kids enjoyed themselves which is most important. Our only gripe was when the entertainment(Shows) and kids disco was on outside you had to pay for your drinks, which is not all inclusive. Overall it was a lovely place, apart from being a good way from Playa de las Americas.
Appalling Hygiene
Having just returned from holiday, I would like to highlight the serious lack of basic food preparation hygiene displayed by this hotel. And would NOT recommend the place to anyone who is bothered about sharing their meals with various insects and pigeons. There was no air conditioning in operation in the restaurants and thus the place was crawling with flies. On one of the nights a cockroach like insect was found in a breadbasket and you literally had to fish insects out of the salads and buffets (there are three al a carte restaurants to choose from that can be used three times a week but they were even worse than the main restaurants). Even more frustrating, the managements and tour operators (first Choice) answer was that as there is no law in Spain regarding the covering of food they were therefore not going to. IE they adhere to the VERY BASIC requirements permitted and didnt do anything during our stay to rectify the problem. The hotel itself is a very nice place. House keeping, the pool area and poolside snack bar (where you would expect insects) was the best weve experienced. In summery we felt very annoyed and disappointed that after paying so much for an all included deal, it was ruined by the restaurants. If you are going to this place and you consider food and meals an important aspect of your holiday I would suggest taking extra money to eat out or changing venue if you can.
FANTASTIC HOTEL
Family Holiday 2003 8-22 July 03. Two adults 35 years and two children 4 and 5. We were allocated a junior suite in the newer block - the Tenerife. This was a smaller version of the Costa Adeje. Because it was smaller the pool and sunbed area was not so busy and sunbeds and umbrellas were always available. Hotel and all facilities were excellent. Two children attended the Kids Club every day between 11am and 1pm. We could always keep checking where they were in the kids club on the same level as the restaurant. Cleaning and polishing takes place all day every day, even down to removing glass in garden lights and cleaning these! Excellent choice of food - you would not go hungry. Rooms fantastic - we had four beds in our room and still room for a table and chairs and all other furniture as in standard rooms. Mini bar filled every day - only beer, water and soft drinks and crisps - however it was all free and an added bonus. Would definitely recommend and would even consider going again. Fantastic family holiday for relaxing and enjoying yourself. However, Tenerife -particularly this area is very barren and not very pretty, compared to mediterranean islands.
Great hotel!!!
We had a geat holiday here in July. Hotel was excellent, very clean and food was great. Downside was lack of entertainment in the hotel itself, and having to pay for drinks in the square, not right when we had paid for all inclusive. The sunbed fiasco was a nightmare .I came on holiday for a rest and had to set my alarm clock for 6.30 am to be sure of getting a sunbed & canopy. Could they not be allocated when you exchange your towel in the morning. Surely the hotel could come up with a solution. That said the hotel is excellent though very remote.
