M partner, myself and our 11 year old - We are due to go on holiday at the Bahia at the end of this month (29/08) for 2 weeks. Can anyne please advice us on what the weather is like as in the UK it does not seem the warmest and we want to be sure we take the right clothes.
Also, we would very much appreciate advice on:
- if anyone has been transferred from one Bahia resort to their sister hotel nearby? If yes, please let us know what your experience was like.
- how does the system work with eating at the different restaurants?
- do they have music that adults or kids can bop to in the evenings?
- anyone know how the rooms are equiped when sleeping 3 people in a room, do they simply provide a single bed in a double room or is it a proper room for 3 people?
- we have heard the area near the pool is slippery, can normal swim shoes suffice here?
- any advice on the local beach would be greatly appreciated too
Many thanks in advance
Angie

Can I say that this is the cleanest hotel I have ever been in? There for a week and no tummy problems, a first.
The food was excellent and you would be struggling to find something not to like. The other restaurants in the package were really good and does make a change from the buffet, but as I said, could eat their each night with no problem.
Rooms really good, reception in check in days the slowest I have ever met, but staff very friendly and did explain the all inclusive basis very well. We had a Jnr site, fridge filled every day and maid was excellent as were all the staff.
I have been to the Caribbean on all-inclusive and have to say this matched it.
If you have difficulty with steps, hills ect not the best placed hotel for walking.
Overhaul a really good stay and will be back again, have not said that about to many hotels that I have stayed at.

the all inclusive bahia principe in teneriffe was a great and enjoyable holiday by far. this was our first time going all inclusive and it was great for the 12 and the 9 year old. there was a buffet that you could have breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as the alacarte restaurants. you dont get fed up with the same food in the buffet because there was a great variety of foods there and change every day. they also cater for fussy eaters....you will find something you like! there was a lot to do for kids. there was a kids club and a teenage club. you had to be 13 for the teenager club. but the 12 year old found the kids club too young for her. the entertainment was very good and there was discos for kids every night. the staff were great and helpful and were very good with the kids. the rooms were very clean, comfortable, spacious and there was a mini fridge and it was toped-up every day. there was no sandy beach though....and that let the holiday down. it was a 5 star hotel in a 2 star location.

My wife and I had booked a hotel in Puerto Santiago, but 10 hours before we left home we received a phone call saying they had overbooked and we had been upgraded to the Bahia Principe Costa Adeje. We were a bit apprehensive. When we arrived at the Bahia Principe they had no booking for us. Luckily I had the e-mail print off and was able to show that we had had been booked into the Bahia Principe. By this time my wife was tired and upset. However the young man behind the desk could not do enough. He sent us to the dining room for lunch and drinks and asked us to return in about an hour. This we did and found everything had been sorted.
We were directed to our room and WOW!!!.....the holiday began here. What a fantastic place.
The hotel was not your usual tower block but consisted of numerous buildings built to the Catalonian style, all very colourful. Our room had air conditioning, phone, TV and fridge( which was topped on regularly) . There was a balcony that overlooked the pool area and across the bay we could see Las Americas.
The hotel is purely all inclusive and it seemed strange at first not having to pay for anything.
Food was marvellous and plentiful, and drinks flowed like water.
The gardens around the pool areas are wonderful with a fountain, stream and waterfall.
All the staff (including the gardeners, maintenance team and chamber maids) are very
cheerful and always very helpful.
I could waffle on about this fantastic hotel for hours.
The Hotel is a bit out on a limb but there is a bus service run by the hotel to Las Americas......anyhow who wants to leave this Hotel.
I have been to no end of hotels in my life but this was by far the best..... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED... go see for yourself.
Thanks to all the Hotel staff.

We checked onto the hotel towards the evening , as soon as we walked in we instantly releaxed and thought wow ! I went with my husband , 4 children and a friend of one of the 4. I Shared a room with my 3 youngest and husband our room was resonable but was a little narrow.
The all inclusive deal was fantastic ! The kids could go up by the bar and help them selfs to Slush puppys and lots. The only thing i didnt really like was the fact that most of the pool snacks were chicken nuggets and chips and jamaican chicken and CHIPS.
The weather wasnt atall very hot. It was just very warm witha breeze. The little ''private'' beach is tiny and deserted, with 2 sunbeds. Dont bother.
The food was excellent though, but the wine was not very nice.
The sunbeds were hard to get im afraid its a case of waking at 5 to get one ! You have to sneak though as there is a guard making sure you dont reserve them.
Location was bad but the hotel was clean and very spacious.
Might return.Like another viewer put. Very groundhog day.

Please ignore the comments of Mrs S Sheriston who gave this hotel a 5/10 some people are just moaners. It is a great 5* hotel with loads to do. Why would anyone want to catch a taxi to playa its a total hole. We only caught a taxi there once to stock up on cigs & pressies while the kids were being entertained at the kids club. There is great entertainment great weather its very clean the food is very good the a la cartes are great. They even have tables all around the hotel with juice & booze so you dont have to wait at the bar. You dont have the hassle of getting dressed in the middle of the day as the serve hotdogs, burgers & toasties ect by the pool. I am the very fussy when it comes to hotels & when i pay for a 5* i expect to get it & with this hotel you do.

I have stopped at this hotel 3 times in each part coba, tulum and akumal. The hotel is absolutly spottles. I recomend you stay in tulum unless you perfer a louder holiday with non stop action that is likely to be in coba. akumal is very similar to tulum but tulums beach is better. The rooms are big and spacious with huge bathrooms. They have a wide variaty of resturants including show cooking to traditonall mexicans quisine. x caret is the best trip if u go wih your to opperater it cn be a rush but if u step just outside the hotel u can get a safe mini bus A mini bus is $3 each about £1.50.

Just back from a week stay at the Bahia Principe Adeje 11th to 18th April, I must say firstly that the weather was on our side, this was the principal reason for choosing Tenerife at this time of the year.
We wanted a spring break with a bit of sun and primarily somewhere to "down tools"!
The Pro's
The weather.
The hotel is clean and the gardens are immaculate, the rooms are adequate and the heated pool is a god send, although my 12 year old son preferred the un-heated pool as it was far less crowded.
The Con's
The location is too remote, 30 euros for a return taxi to Las Americas is too expensive to keep doing and there is nothing to do elsewhere locally so you are hotel bound here.
The buffet restaurant serves the same selection of dull and boring food every day - the food was never hot and after a while this got on my nerves.
The A la Carte restaurants are fine - if you can make a reservation, bear with me here and I'll explain.
There are 5 A la Carte restaurants, Italian, Spanish, Fish, Asian and Mexican. You have 3 bookings within the all inclusive package.
If you are staying in the Adeje part of the complex you have the first 3 on site and if you are staying at the Tenerife part of the complex you have the last 2 on site.
Whichever complex you are at - you have priority and forward booking capability, you are only able to book off site restaurants on the day you wish to eat as you cannot make forward reservations for these, stay with me here as I have to make my point, we were staying in the Adeje and wanted to book for the Asian and Mexican - you have to queue at Guest Relations from 10.15am for a 10.30am opening - the queue becomes very long I can tell you - when you get to the desk - the off-site restaurants are full!!!! we tried this 4 out of the 7 days - you are then told that you can forward book the on-site restaurants and come back on the day at 4pm to swop if there is availability - but there is not going to be any availibility if the other hotel gets priority and is full on the day anyway - do you get my point??? We were unable to eat at either of the Asian or Mexican which was a disappointment to us. We ate at the Italian twice and the Spanish once, they were ok - much better than the "cafeteria" buffet at least.
Quite simply - change the booking to an on the day - first come first served basis and at least everyone would stand a chance at eating something different.
The entertainment is very average and very typical for this type of hotel.
This is a one time visit for us I'm afraid and as we have stayed at hotels like the Bahia Princess/Tenerife Princess/Guayarmina Princess (although not all-inclusive) we were not really impressed by the facilities here.
I also hated being "banded" the minute we walked in the place - mine came off the minute I got to the room and guess what - no-one challenged me as to why I wasn't wearing it either............
So in summary - average hotel with average facilities and average food - definitely not a 10 for us - from reading other reviews I think the scores depend very much on what you are used to and what you have to compare it with.
This has now compounded my opinion that all-inclusive packages are compromised by quantity over quality, they are ususally hotels in the middle of nowhere so you are trapped.
Very ground hog day!

This Hotel Is fabulas ! Its very big asin it takes 10 mins to walk from one side of the hotel to the reception. When we were given our room it was room 7306 Which was one of the biggest ones , Rooms are clean and bathrooms are nice. If you read that there is a beach 2 mins away .. thats true BUT... its not very nice beach atall ! its all pebbles and 3 sunbeds .. thats all , its never being used ! The only let down was the location ! It was a 15-18 min drive to Playa De Las Americas with actually a rather large fee ! If you want to catch a free weekend coach to americas from the hotel ... Go For It !
Food was excellent .. all you can eat buffet with a lovely and large selection Night , Morning and Midday.

We stayed for the second time in 2007 - having been there already in May - for christmas. We had a wonderful time, as with our first holiday - no complaints.
There were 6 adults and 2 children in our party and we are all in junior suites, nice and big with plenty of room for everyone. The rooms were cleaned daily and beds were made and the room tidied. Towels were also changed every day if you wished. The minibar was restocked daily - they put 2 beer and 3 soft drinks and some bottled water in it and whatever you use daily they will replace.
The pool was lovely - 4 altogether - we mainly used the heated one which was nice and warm. The poolside bar and snack bar were great, the snack bar was open til midnight so as our room was near this it was handy to get a beer or a hot chocolate of whatever you liked. The snack bar had a good variety of food - pizza, chicken wings, burgers, etc.
There is a main restaurant where you go for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is exellent for each - a great variety and always something to suit everyone.
For our booking we had 4 nights in an al a carte restaurant. There are 5 i think.. 3 in the main hotel and two across the road in the bahia principe tenerife - we had use of these also
By the pool was the spanish restaurant which opened at lunch time but at night you need a reservation - food was lovely
There is also a fish restaurant by the pool but we didnt try that.
On christmas night we booked the italian restaurant which i must say was my favourite.
We also used the mexican twice which was lovely.
In May we ate in the Asian restaurant which was alos very nice.
The bar was lovely - always able to find a seat and you could serve yourself although some nights the bar staff served and could be quite slow - my one and only complaint.
There is also a small snack bar in the centro publico which opens late - i think midnight to 8am where you can get tea coffee beer etc and snack food so there is 24 hour all inclusive.
Overall we had a wonderful time and would love to return again. We have booked a different island for our holidays this year but the Bahia is a lot to live up to...

Just returned from a week in the Bahia Principe Costa Adeje, (two adult’s one child) our second visit previous been there 3 years ago.
The place still has very high standards, clean well maintained and friendly staff.
The previous time we stayed in a junior suite, so we booked a junior suite again only to be told on arrival that they were over booked and preference was being given to parties of four, and we were getting a room, as we had book 6 months in advance we were surprised.
We weren’t the only people to find ourselves in this position, as they presented us with a gold band (which entitled us to one extra booking of the restaurants and free local drinks in the plaza). Throughout the week I noticed lots of other gold band people with similar stories some had only up graded weeks before arrival.
The management said we would need to contact who ever we booked with to get a refund of the difference, we asked for a letter stating our situation but they only give us a standard note in four languages saying we accepted and alternative room. As we booked through internet we are having no joy getting a refund, or reply so far.
We enjoyed the week, the pools were great and the one heated one was very popular, one lifeguard covering all three pool! Most sun beds were claimed by 8.30 but this was mid-term brake and the place was almost full. The beach was very small and rocky, not really a beach at all, not suitable for non swimmers, but did have a small amount of sand above the high water mark.
The food was good, but the staff in the self catering breakfast and lunch seemed to be over worked and to get a hot pot of coffee for breakfast was impossible. The quality of local drink available was poor but international drinks were available to buy. The Spanish & Mexican restaurants were very good, the Italian was just ok, we didn’t try the fish restaurant so can’t comment other than it was all fish, so if one of your group didn’t like fish they weren’t catered for.
The place is isolated, but as we went to chill out it was perfect.
A safe is available in the room at Euro 2.50 per day and internet was available Euro 1 per 10 minutes, in the main building. The taxi for the airport to hotel was Euro 30.
Kids club and entertainment was average.
Yes I would recommend it but whether I would go back again I don’t know, may be if I ever get a refund.

first of all just read some comments on this hotel that were negitive(cant believe it) my wife and i are going again in sept for about the 7th time in about 4 years, i have been to other 5 star hotels in tenerife and they are not a patch on this place, true there is not a lot to do out side the hotel but then that is the same with most all inclusive hotels, some one complained about the food being boring i can only assume they are roalty and eat caviar all the time,or they are from the north and want chips every day,i cant imagine staying any where else in tenerife i know i will be disipointed, trust me this place is fab.
