" Better than expected! "
Submitted By: Adrian CThe pool was great , kids loved it, although on the odd day it was hard to find a spot with a lounger, although there were loads of them. Shop was fine, and other supermarkets within a 5 minute walk. Kids club highly reccomended, our eldest went everyday & loved it. Tour rep was on site every day, and helpful. Francessca did indeed get everyone going with her aqua aerobics, games etc, although she was off sick during the end of our stay, and there wa no replacement. Evening entertainment was, well fairly entertaining. Elvis was great, and the kids loved the puppets.
We had no problems with the hotel bar, found them all friendly enough, even Alex, the big guy, had a few chats with him, and he was fine, sometimes busy though.
Local cove/beach was nice, pretty, but did get busy at certain times of the day, not earlier though, we loved swimming/snorkelling, looking at the fish swimming around you, and crabbing on the rocks.Pirates cove restaurant was nice too, with kids play area.
Overall we enjoyed our holiday, no real moans, yes we would consider returning.
Advice: Satisfactory resort, quiet area, nice beach, nearby resorts (20 minute walk) are busier!
Activities: Mr Beps restaurant, Pirates cove restaurant.
Good for: Beach
" Magical Menorca "
Submitted By: SCopareOur Thompson rep was very helpful, and we did go on one of the organised trips "Capital Delights", which was really good (especially if you like Gin!). It made a nice change to get out of the complex and not sunbathe for a day!
The reception staff were helpful and friendly, as were the bar staff, although the large bloke just grunted at whatever you had to say and absolutely stank! The bar/resturant in the complex was ok, drinks were very pricy though, but the state of the Euro at the moment doesnt help! One offputting thing though was that the bar closed at 12 sharp, which is good for families getting to sleep without trouble, but when your sitting on the terrace having a drink and the bar staff turn the lights off, its not too pleasant.
I must admit that we didnt eat there, but we were told the food is "ok". Entertainment in the evenings was alright, Elvis was brilliant, but the quiz nights & karaoke were a bit of a bore as no one was there! We preferred to walk into Cala n Forcat (20 mins away) where there was a whole strip of bars, resturants and shops. The square (just under the blue arch) was brilliant too, with live music every night and loads of entertainment for the kids.
The pool area at the apartments was spacious and clean, and there were always enough sunbeds to go around (although some people still insited on getting up at 4am to put their towels on sunbeds). Only thing was that because of all the suncream people were wearing, the floor became very slippy, especially around the pools edge, and when i was there i witnessed several people slip and fall over, including an elderly man and several small children, one injuring his chin quite nastily!
Francesca the daytime entertainment manager was very good, running the water polo, football and aerobics 5 days a week, although the "Hola! Hola Francesca!" catchphrase got on our nerves by the end of our stay.
The small beach was only a 5 minute walk away, but it got very busy and sunbeds were expensive to hire. The water was nice though, very clear and you could see the fish swimming about, but it was very rocky so we preferred to wear flip flops in the water.
At the apartments at night, there was a night porter walking around all the time, from about 11pm until morning. It made us feel very safe and he does his job very well.
One thing we were very dissapointed about though, was that one afternoon, a window in the corridoor outside our apartment smashed (while closed) and one of the people in the appartment just up the corridoor went to tell reception so they could get it cleaned up. A good half an hour passed and it still hadnt been cleared up, so my mum went down to tell them again. The receptionist was quite rude to her, and when asked what would have happened if someone was walking near the window at the time it smashed, she just shrugged her shoulders. My mum then came back to our room, (after having to walk over broken glass to get to the door) and we waited, again. An hour and a half after the window smashed, my mum had to go down yet again to reception, because it still hadnt been cleared up. Luckily she bumped into our rep on the way there, and she ensured it would be done immediatley, which it was. We felt let down by the staff that day as they didnt seem to care that their guests could have been injured.
In spite of this, we did have a lovely holiday. If i could pick up the apartments and move them nearer to Cala n Forcat, it would have been perfect, but it was just too quiet for us in Cala n Blanes. I would definitley reccomend this place for young families, but if your looking to go out most nights, then i wouldnt come here.
Advice: A safe quiet resort - perfect for families, but not for those wanting a good nightlife
Activities: Mr Beps - cheap and lovely food! Mahon was nice to walk around & had a great market!

" cheap n cheerful "
Submitted By: lunnpolyBiggest problem with the apartments wasn't Germans, or spanish or any other nationality but the English themselves!! Why oh Why do people feel the need to get up at 6am and put towels on loungers, particularly when the don't appear at the pool until 3pm in the day? As a result half the loungers covered in towels were lying unused while families like ourselves had to squash round about them, like second class citizens until the fancy took them to swan down to the pool and claim them. Why no rule like any empty beds with towels will have towels removed?
Another gripe is the amount of lardy topless women parading about the pool, im not a prude and really don't mind people being topless, but a bit of discretion about it - personally i think toplessness is best suited to the beach. But at a family complex it was a bit much. My 8 year old son didn't know where to look and it really put him off and us.
Poolside bar/restaurant was fine for the odd drink, or plate of chips but burgers best avoided as they were on hard stale rolls and not much meat in them, not pleasant! Service wise was fine, but just don't expect cheerful spanish bartenters here - maybe if they realised that a few manners or smiles were given they might have recieved decent tips. We got used to drinks slid up the bar without a word or slammed down in front of us, never had a problem anywhere else.
Entertainment was on in the evenings however we prefered to be out of the complex having meals when this was on, as it seemed pretty poor quality, but fine if you like karyoke, just not for us. Apartments well placed for going into citadela which i can't recommend enough beautiful costal walk from the apartments or quick taxi ride away. Wonderful restaurants and craft shops in a beautiful location.
Kids club is brilliant and the girls work really hard pleasing the kids, which is great kids loved it and gave us adults a little relaxation time. Overall the apartments were great value for money only downside is cheap apartments = cheap guests!
Advice: Lovely resort, small cove beach a little dirty

" We love Vista Blanes! "
Submitted By: jeannie smithDon't miss the coastal walk into Ciutadella- it's only two kilometres and flat, but the views are great, especially in the evening.
We would definitely go again, but hire a car this time, as we know there was a lot more to see.

Submitted By: Mrs LJ GITTINSI have to say it was a brillliant holiday yes apartments basic, beds wasnt that comfortable, but it had everything you needed microwave, ironing board, kettle, toaster i have never had equipment like that in other apartments we have stayed in.
Pool area fantastic it suited myself husband and 11 yr old daughter, never had to get up early to find a sunbed, plenty to go around even finding shade.
Evening entertainment left a lot to be desired though ok if you liked freddie mercury wasnt our cup of tea, so every evening we walked into cala n forcat about 15-20 minutes walk which i found to be very pleasant especially when sun was going down and it was going cooler. plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from and souvenior shops to browse in even though they seemed to sell the same things, we didnt have no particular favourite eating place it was all nice food.
We hired a car for a week when we booked our holiday with thomson highly recommended, went travelling to some very nice villages and towns including citudella and mahon.
I thought francesca the daytime entertainer was great my daughter and husband joined in most activites including water polo and my daughter joined the kids zone which she enjoyed.
Overall it was a very pleasant 2 week break.
" Lovely location, only a short walk... "

Submitted By: Mr D FurnessCleaning, you have to empty to your own bins which is not a problem as the main bins are just outside the hotel. The cleaners can set a world record for cleaning your room, mainly changed the towels every 2 days, and bedding every four days. We found the floor dirty when we arrived and we kept cleaning it ourselves, but dont get me wrong the rooms are not that bad, just the cleaners are!
Kids club the girls were fantastic and really entertained the kids and really do work hard.
Sun beds at the complex are first come first served and yes its towels down in true German style. A shop is on the complex and they have most things and pricing is not too bad compaired to the other shops. The bus stop is near to the hotel.
The nearest beach is 2 minutes walk away, which gets busy, but needs cig ends picking up and the locals have no problem with sitting on top of you, but the sea is great to swim in and safe for the kids as it stays shallow some way out.
Menorca is quiet and never changes, the weather is great, the locals are friendly, and the complex is good, although the only thing that I would say is some of the parents stay in the bar and let the kids do what they want and they could consider other people are on holiday ( but I guess this is a Uk thing as we see it here as well ).

Advice: best part was coming home
Activities: restaurant at the airport coming home
