We recently went self-catering at Vista Dorada, it was a last minute deal and as a young couple all we wanted was just a break away from raining England so we can't moan too much. The weather certainly didn't let us down and was very hot. However certain things just really... more

I’m a 19yr old lad and went on holiday with my mum. We arrived at night and were given a map of building and had to cart suit cases to our bungalow but I'm a strong lad so that was all good. The bungalow was cracker inside, it had all the essentials. The next morning... more

We booked our holiday 2 weeks before travel. We found the apartment clean and fresh, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The location was a 20 minute walk into main areas, it is situated in a quiet area, with a spar supermarket just outside. Taxis are frequent... more

I have given the Vista Dorada apartments a 5 star rating. There are many positives and yes there are some negatives points too. Don't allow previous scores and remarks to spoil your perception of the apartments. I stayed here with my family. Myself 23 and my 2 brothers who... more

Me and my friend stayed at Club Vistor Dorada between 14th-22nd October. I was not impressed at all by the apartments. We arrived at the apartments in the middle of the night and to find our room we were given a map and had to walk down dark walkways to get to our room... more

I thought the food was good in the restaurant, there tended to be the same desserts every night and the ice cream had already melted, but the food was well cooked and tasted all right. The pool was clean and enjoyable. Sun beds were unlocked at ten o clock after breakfast... more

perfect
Went to the Vista Dorada aparthotel, in Feb 2004, after reading some reviews, i was a little dis-heartened, but was very surprised, my family consisted of 2 teenage boys, a 10 year old, my mother, 64, my husband and myself, well its true what they say, don`t believe all you read, try it for yourself first, we had a fantastic time, rooms were lovely, reps were brilliant, working very hard to keep all entertained, always pleasant and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. food, very nice indeed, hot and always fresh, we were that impressed we are definately going back again, well done airtours, reps and staff
Crap
Travelled for the new year in 2003 , allocated on arrival with airtours ,paid a bloody fortune ,place damp beds absolutely disgusting ,food awful, stayed one night ,wife in tears ,moved to a beautiful hotel after paying another two hundred pounds ,and after a huge row, with a ***** of a courrier ,never again would i go with them
Dont do it!
Allocation on arrival with airtours is crap... the hotel was unhygenic and archiac. The decor needed a revamp... this surely wasnt 3A more like 1A... it is okay for kids but for adults having to make do with butlins style entertainment would make anyone turn to the bottle.
brilliant holiday, the kids cant wait to go back
i stayed at the vista dorada july 04 with my husband and two children aged 9 and five we were quite lucky as our apartment was at the top of the hill right beside the pool area. Our eldest daughter has perthes disease and has walking difficulties but because of were we were situated she had no problems the children loved the entertainment they loved the reps thought they were fantastic the pool during the day was fun too as the reps ensured everyone got involved the food was brilliant and whilst we were there a refurbishing of the apartments was going on all lovely modern furniture being delivered. overall when the kids our happy the parents our too and that sums up our feelings about vistadorada. we plan to go again next year but only if we get apartments at the top of the hill.
loved it
We there on allocated on arrival basis arrived early october very hot required a fan as no air conditioning very spacious accomodation although other holiday makers did not seem to have so much space- lucky or what! food absolutely delicious as they had a chinese chef so there was always a chinese dish at the buffet we were half board and although we have been in places where the buffet area has been expansive the buffet at the Vista was contained in a smaller area but the choice was brilliant and catered for most tastes Self catering could also go for the buffet approx £8 half price for kids There were also theme buffet nights eg barbeque, chinese, hawaian - all delicious entertainment suited the more family orientated eg bingo , quizes and variety shows not for young ravers Mega shopping and nightlife was a short taxi/courtesy bus ride away in Playa Del Ingles The Vista had Plenty of activiies day and night on site shop was extortonate -Spar shop over the road was reasonable receptionist was very efficient you got to know the cleaners although they were not obtrusive I am subceptable to mosquito bites but the blighters never got me once! Never saw a cockroach - by the way I learnt in Tenerife that you must never crush/stamp on a cockroach as they are haemaphrodite and carry eggs so although you kill the host the eggs hatch out in great numbers. The only way to get rid is with a proprietary aerosol! Even in October the heat for me was HOT to say the least so any adults and children of fair skins please take care! hope to return
spot on
This was our first time to gran canaria & we thought the resort was brilliant. The rooms are very basic but they are very clean & the cleaners are always about doing there job.The staff & the airtours reps are great the reps go out of there way to make sure that everyone is enjoying themselfs. If you have kids they will love it as they are kept entertained all day & night as well as the mums & dads. The resturant there is great & there is a fresh buffet twice a day & the price if you go s/c is very fare & you will not be disapointed. The supermarket on site is a bit steep price wise but don't worry if you go out of the reception & turn left there is a spar supermarket just a few yards down the road & the prices there are very good. There is a waterpark called aquasur which the kids will love & its only 3 euros in a taxi to get there. Also we where given a free bus pass so we could go to the sand dunes of maspalomas & if you are daring there is a nudest beach there so be careful if you have kids but its not so bad that you need to bury your head in the sand. There is also a western town where they filmed a few dollars more called soiux city which is a must plus its free beer as well.
Nice Place
I have just come back from spending a week here with my girlfriend. We are both 21 and found this a great place to stay. The entertainment on site was aimed at the middle aged parent and the whole resort was mainly for families but it was only a 10min cab ride away to all of the bars and clubs which cost about 3 euros, £2. The bars are open until 4a.m and the clubs until 7a.m. The reps at the Kasbah, Playa Des Ingles are quite sleazy and put me off. Reccommend Pacha, China Whites and Beckhams bar.
can't wait to go back.
When we first arrived at the vista their had been a sand storm that day,, the place looked awful, the staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough for the children throughout the whole of our two week stay. The entertainment was very good and varied each night. The reps on sight gave 100%. Also I found the food great, (too much I put on nearly a stone in 2 weeks!!!) If i had to pick a fault it would be their was slight damp in one of the bedrooms, but not that bad, it was bearable. Also my sons found out that their are a few cock roaches that also like to lodge at the place aswell, this rattled me somewhat. But all in all i would love to go back and stay their again. It hasn't put me off.
Only good thing were the Spanish Staff
As my title states, the Spanish staff are marvelous. Allocation on arrival with Airtours? Never again! Airtours rate it 3A, Spanish rate it 1Key. The Spanish are telling the truth. Airtours use this hotel as a transit one nighter. People were booking out after one night and staying in a hotel called Beverley something. The rep already had the rooms ready and just sat at his desk raking in the extra money they were charging for the (upgrade) this was also 3A rated. We thought we had paid for this type of accommodation already. Accommodation Built on side of steep hill. Chalet type sheds, No heating, air conditioning or ventilation. Poor lighting, no TV or proper dressing table. Furnishings etc Tired, old greyish bedding, dark green towels (with holes in) and 60s furnishing. Everything tired and old. (No Hair drier, TV or welcome pack) Surroundings Built on side of hill with very few facilities in the area. Need either car hire or daily cabs. On Site Bar/Restaurant: friendly waiters and bar staff but again room run down. Eating whilst Airtours entertainers are bawling down a microphone or children’s disco in progress. Swimming pool: Pool not too bad, water was a slight milky colour though, so we avoided getting in. Poolside: Plenty of loungers but not enough chairs, tables or shade. If you do get a table and chair and want to sit and relax or read your paper, THEN TOUGH, because there are children all around you playing on the pool tables etc and the microphone screaming at you again. We have complained to Airtours (1st time ever) but have yet to get a reply. If we had paid for a 1A or maybe even 2A I would not have been so upset, but we paid for 3A half board as we have done on numerous occasions with other companies. This accommodation is definitely NOT 3 anything. I feel very sorry for the Spanish staff who try really hard to be polite and helpful and who are probably getting very little from Airtours. What if you still want to go there Book flights and hotel yourself. Book direct and pay 52 euros Max, per room per night. Sleeping 1 to 4 people. I have tried to be honest and tell it as it is. I will not book allocation on arrival with Airtours again, In fact I don’t know if I would book anything with Airtours again. I feel they have cheated us and many others, as well as the hotel in question. I have stayed 2A in Corfu and Balearics but I only expected 2A and that is what I got. I have never been disappointed in a holiday before and this really shocked me. I have read other reviews on this site re; Vista Dorada and I can’t explain why there are any good ones. Obviously the cost or expectations were different. PS Just a little thing I did notice. Only British people staying here. No German or Spanish. Could this be because we don't compain?
Very Nice staff Amazing food
Our apartment was clean and comfortable. These can be situated however on steep hill so you need to walk down a long distance and walk up to main reception/food/pool. Are very treacherous for someone who is not Very fit. Staff at the vista Dorada the friendliest I have met on holiday - very helpful. Food unbeleiveble value and variety for money.
